  1. The Ravens have dreamt of drafting such a WR since their inception. I was praying when we got him he could turn into that deep threat, but given our past miscues I was very hesitant to say the least. If he can keep this up and catch the ball consistently he will be successful for many years to come.

  2.

Merrill Hodge is the worst at this. He is such a Steelers homer it is sickening.

But he keeps his job...ESPN loves it. They love catering to the big fan bases. You would never see a Ravens homer employed like that. Never.

  3. Crav,

Could be worse - The Herd has us at No 10 !

Look, these rankngs dont mean squat - its where we are at the end that counts.

Besides, I'd rather see us climb the mountain and have time/room to peak.

    :gorave:

Jesus don't get me started on Colin Cowherd. I can't stand that prick. He gets off hating on the Ravens while talking about how great Steeler fans are. Fuck that guy.

  4. We finally added some speed to the equation. Obviously the 2 deep thorws to Smith helped score or set up TDs, but even when Smith wasn't the target, he opened things underneath. Boldin's TD is a perfect example. I've said it before and i'll say it again, the more we can connect on those go routes for Smith, the more teams have to respect it, the better our offense will be. Flacco just needs to be more accurate on the deep passes like he was in this game.

Yea that is what has killed us in the past...having a bunch of possession receivers. Bengals could cover them one on one, safeties would cheat up, and we couldn't move the ball. Having Smith take the top off the defense changes everything.

  5. Mason was our only consistent receiver for his entire tenure here. I don't think anyone would debate that. He played hurt and played tough. On the field I had no problem with him at all, he was a very solid, tough possession receiver.

The problems I and many other fans have with him is the off the field antics and overall attitude. Anyone who went to the Carolina game last year saw his antics in full display as he repeteadly tried to engage Flacco in an argument on the sidelines (per A. Wilson he was "upset about Flacco not throwing him the ball quickly enough"). Who could forget when he laughed after dropping what would have more than likely been a game winning TD against the Steelers back in 09? Or how about after the most crushing loss in Ravens history (Colts playoff game at home) he complained about being "underappreciated?"

As a player, I have a lot of respect for Mason. As a person, I think he is a whiny little bitch.

  6.

you do realize they gave up zero second half points right? Thier D did hold, and they got the ball back with a chance to win.

Sorry I was thinking about the Dallas/Pats game. Duh.

  7. I'm worried about both Grubbs and Evans. Grubbs practicing but not playing to me means that the injury keeps flaring up as he is testing it out. Not good. I don't know what to think about Evans, definitely seems like damaged goods. Thankfully Torrey Smith has stepped up but it would be nice to have a veteran like Evans out there.

  8. What surprised me is how poor the offensive line played, this Texans defense shouldn't have been putting that much pressure on us, especially with Williams out. It looked to me like our offensive line took them lightly, and we almost paid the price.

I was surprised with this as well. A few times Flacco snapped the ball and there were Texans grabbing his jersey. I hope they just took them lightly and this isn't a sign of things to come. Our offense is in trouble if the line plays like that every game.

  9. The play vs the Steelers will cost Del Rio his job, down 7 with 4 minutes to play and you elect to kick a field goal?? Come on Jack..

Yea what the hell was that. Did he really think his defense would hold? Stupid, stupid decision.

  10. I was glad to see Boldin get more involved. I am sure he has wanted the ball more but you never hear a peep out of him (unlike with Mason). He is a true professional and I really hope he keeps getting opportunities.

  11. Beaten twice in as many weeks by his old team! :D I loved how he was boo'd after each of his three measly receptions. I wasn't at the Jets game so I am not sure if it was the same there, but I couldn't help but wonder what he thought when he heard that.

Does anyone know if he was on 105.7 this morning? I tried to listen to their stream but it wasn't working. I wonder if he won't be cut when Johnson returns after hearing rumors of the Jets maybe cutting him before the trade went down.

  12. If the Ravens get to Schaub like they did with Sanchez and Ben, I don't see the Texans putting up more than 10-14 points. However, if Schaub can beat our blitzes and play smart football like Hasselbeck did against us it could be an interesting game. I am inclined to believe the former, at home coming off a bye I would take us against anyone in the NFL. I think we will get to Schaub, Ray Rice will have another good game on the ground and receiving as t\he Ravens win by a decent margin.
