Yea...all he wants to do is run. He tells 10 other guys what the play is...they practice their butts off executing it in practice and then Taylor goes and does his own thing.

He does not execute the plays.

You can not have an NFL QB who can not execute his position within the scheme of the offense.

    It's ...Snap...take a quick look...run!

Painter does not have the arm like Smith but he knows how to run this offense....10 times better.

Tyrod is doing exactly what the old and to some degree the current version of Michael Vick did/does. Vick has and continues to do his own thing and there are times when it has put him at risk injury wise. Vick is Tyrod's mentor and Vick has been helping him. The old Michael Vick use to do what Tyrod is doing now, the current Vick has evolved more but still has his moments.

  2. The line will be better with Birk holding up the middle. He'll communicate well with Williams. Joe was getting pressured between the tackles from missed assignments.

McKinnie just pushed those 2nd and 3rd stringers around like toys.

With the no huiddle D's will get gassed which affects the pass rush. Then there's the audibles, shot gun, waggles, roll outs, hot reads...this is a dynamic and fluid offense this year.

I don't think the line will be as big a weakness as we've been thinking.

All good points, I think the slow start last night was due to getting some of the kinks out. We still have issues to work out on the Oline but you're right about it not being as bad as everyone thinks. The more the Oline is scrutinized the more I believe they will be motivated to prove everyone wrong. Gerry Sandusky (WBAL) tweeted a couple of weeks ago about the offense using more no huddle and spread during training camp to adjust the offense to Joe's strengths, he also tweeted that they won't show their hand much during the preseason.

  3. He's incredible...

Oh...after watching last night I saw another reason he dropped the weight. They are going hurry up and no huddle. More of the league will too. He's got to run and hunt and be in great cardio shape.

    He's friggn'n amazing.

The man is incredible, as usual Ray is ahead of the game.

  4. LMAO..I DVRed the game I just fast forwarded to Tyrods plays....He forgot what play he called and caused the O to get a holding call..So what he can scramble..He doesnt have it..Painter does.

Painter had his moment in the sun last night but don't be fooled, the real Curtis Painter will show up over the final 3 preseason games.

  5. I wouldn't say I'm very wrong. I don't recall which two people reported it, but both said that Smith was having some trouble picking up schemes and wasn't quite at the point the Ravens expected. I don't think this means that he'll be terrible or is having a terrible camp. I think the meaning is just that, at this point, Williams and Webb are the two better CBs. I expect Smith to be the best CB on this team in a year or two. I'm just saying, right now, based on what Papa wants to do right now, it would mean trading our 2nd best CB. By the end of the season, this statement may no longer be true as Smith will inevitably improve as the season progresses.

I'm telling you Aaron Wilson said Smith was doing well and Aaron is a pretty honest guy. It really doesn't matter who wins the battle between Smith and Williams because both will get significant playing time. Papa needs to shut up and stop the nonsense, the Ravens aren't going to trade Cary Williams before the season starts, no point in debating him over it. Papa should just wave the white flag and give up, oh wait he has foolishly done that already as it relates to the Ravens Superbowl chances.

  6. Word out of camp is that Smith is not progressing as quickly as thought. Why don't the Ravens see if Smith is going to pan out before they decide to trade a quality STARTING CB. I say the Ravens maintain their depth. That way they can win the Super Bowl and you can come up with excuses about why the Super Bowl win was not legit.

Yager I know you are trying to defend reasons for not trading Williams but you are very wrong about Smith's progress in training camp. Aaron Wilson personally tweeted me that Smith was having a great training camp before he hurt his back.

  7. Papa has been trying to get the Ravens to build for the future for the last 4 seasons. I think he has predicted no better than 9-7 in all 4 seasons yet we have made the playoffs and gone to the AFC Championship game twice. Every year that has passed was also supposed to have been our best shot at a ring.

What will it take for him to wake up to reality? I think the guy is very far gone.

  8. I was watching NFL Network earlier and they were having a Flacco v.s. Ryan debate as it relates to who will have the better season. Willie McGinest was with Joe all the way and of course Evans said far and away Matt Ryan. Willie pointed out all the weapons Joe has to work with (he likes all of them a lot) and Evans laughed at everything he said. Evans is convinced the Ravens will fall apart and the defense will crumble. He also mentioned for the 100th time that the Ravens will crash and burn without Terrell Suggs and Jarret Johnson (that's his new theme). Did I also mention that last week he said the Bengals will crush the Ravens Week 1. Evans thinks he's the man since he played with Tom Brady and Drew Brees but he was a sorry ass fullback. Believe it or not he's worst than Jamie Dukes, I have no respect for Evans at all. At least Jamie Dukes is coming around to Joe a little bit (he picked the Ravens to go to the Superbowl) and he adores Ray Lewis. I would like to add that Evans has picked on Ryan because of his lack of playoff wins but suddenly he loves him when compared to Joe Flacco. Rant Over lol

  9. Good article overall, here's something very interesting:

"2. Is it time to give Flacco a new contract?

There is no doubt the Ravens from Bisciotti on down recognize that Flacco is their franchise quarterback and they feel like they have a very good offer on the table. I doubt they will raise that offer significantly between now and the end of the season. One Ravens executive said, "We might have some fans that will criticize us for the offer we have on the table because it's too much." I asked Flacco about the situation and he convinced me his focus right now is football and the deal will get done in good time. If he has a great season the Ravens are prepared to raise their offer, but if he doesn't the deal on the table now or a franchise tag will be the option. After watching Flacco practice I think he's on his way to a very successful season. That being said, I would hate to see him risk injury this season and miss out on the deal sitting there."

I wonder how much they offered Joe? Hmmmm lol

  10.

You dont say? Do you mean to tell me that good QBs get rid of the ball quickly? ;)

Arguing with Papa is beyond pointless. Ive conceded points to him in the past to see if I would get an objective response and it never comes.

As far as the Oline. I dont believe they r terrible. Oher and yanda are awesome. Bryant despite being heavier than the Ravens wanted is still actually lighter than last year. He played well last year. We'll be fine there. Im thinking Birk will be fine for the first half of the year and ole Gino will take over. With Birk mentoring, Im just not worried. Birk knows his stuff and is a team player. Lastly that leaves one spot open in whivh our rook is gonna be a force. We're good. The stars are aligned. Place ur bets Ravens fan we're gonna have a fun season!

Yager be careful you're saying positive things about the Ravens, you might offend Papa lol. You're right about him though, he just never quits.

  11. Really that is great work. I am curious about the lack of mentioning the OL. Right now he is not working with his starter and there is movement all over the line. If they can't settle that then Joe can't shine.

There is a part in the article about the Ravens running a no huddle offense that will help Joe get rid of the ball faster which helps the OLine. Elite QBs mask problems for the most part and if Joe is going to be elite then he will have to mask some of the Ravens problem areas with his play. Go ahead Papa disagree with me I know it's coming lol.

  12.

If the Saints come with an offer they can refuse I could see them making it. No team is capable of making a run every yr.

You are right about a team not making a run every year but to give up before the season starts is beyond ridiculous. If you expect the Ravens to concede the season this year then you really need to check yourself into Sheppard Pratt, hell I'll do it for you.
