  1. Last yr was teh last best shot they had. Teams go from being in the playoffs to being used up all the time.

The opinion of some lowly fan like you on a message board doesn't matter in the big picture. If you believe that last year was their best shot then fine that's your opinion but should the Ravens concede this year because of your weak minded opinion? HELL NO

  2. But I don't see them making a SB run so build for that run in the future.

That's your freakin problem right there you lunatic, the Ravens believe they can make a run this year. It doesn't matter what you think they can or can't do. They are not going to trade Cary Williams now so squash it.

  3. Jurys out, Brees is the perfect example, he struggled under Cam, since leaving Cam he has become an elite QB..Brees fav target in San Diego was LT..I see the same pattern with Joe and Rice...

Are we wasting Boldins talent in this scheme? Boldin had big numbers with Lineart as his QB, since hes been under Cam, Boldins numbers have declined, sharply.

First of all crav Brees was pretty good under Cameron his last two years in San Diego, he just wasn't elite. You are right Brees did have LT but he also had Antonio Gates who was developed in Cameron's system. Yes Cameron has not properly used Boldin but hopefully Jacoby Jones can be a consistent outside threat which will allow Boldin to stay in the slot. Cameron finally has the players to run his system properly. He could have been more creative with what he had but at the end of the day he can't make Houshmanzadeh, Mason and Boldin run faster. He wants to run a vertical passing offense and now he has the threats that will allow him to do that.

  4. But 2 yrs ago I do not think he got the most out of them. Why would he have Stallworth basically only run reverses when he was on the field. That season he touched the ball 7 times. Only two were receptions. I believe those 2 catches were right at the end of the season.

You do make a good point but you do have to wonder how healthy was he. Stallworth also hasn't set the world on fire since he left the Ravens.

  5. For a few yrs Rex had suspect CB's. He was not exploited with those guys because he sent pressure and made it so they weren't on an island to long.

When you have Ray Lewis, Terrell Suggs and Haloti Ngata on your front 7 it helps you in bringing pressure. Rex doesn't have a front seven quite as good in New York but he has Revis and Cromartie as his CBs. While Rex is a great defensive coach it still doesn't eliminate the fact that he had and continues to have special players to make things much easier for him. Cameron has worked with WRs who flat out didn't scare defenses, Derrick Mason garnered respect but not fear. Todd Heap was and continues to be a shell of himself so he wasn't as good as he was early in his career. Don't get me started on Mark Clayton or Demetrius Williams. The trio of Boldin, Mason and Houshmanzadeh could catch but they all were basically the same type of WR, no speed. Smith, Jones, Boldin, Dickson, and Pitta all present matchup problems and will give Cameron more flexibility. I will admit that Cameron could have been more creative but he can only do so much.

  6. But a coach needs to adjust his philosophy to what the players has can do. Rex did that here very well.

Rex also had special players in Ray, Ed, Suggs, and Ngata. Outside of Ray Rice no other player on offense scared defenses before last year. With the emergence of Torrey Smith, Ed Dickson, Dennis Pitta, and Jacoby Jones to go along with Boldin and Rice Cameron has more to work with. He can be more flexible, you need dynamic playmakers in the Air Coryell offense.

  7. I disagree.

There is a team philosophy and strategy on how to win games. The Offense, Defense and Special Teams work in tandum to achieve that.

Cam has to fit his offense into that.

Ozzie gets him big ass road grading lineman because he wants to run. He wants to be physical.

They want to win the field position battle, time of possession, turnovers and control the game....Ravens football.

To Cam, Ozzie and Harbaugh a dump off pass to Ray Rice is a run. They want him in the second level with the ball.

Joe is a "Steward" with the ball. His job is to not turn it over, and put the D in a tight spot. Joe does that well.

Joe has to be able to make the "big play". He does that well too.

For most of his career Joe did not have the pass protecting line and receivers that he needed for this team to be pass happy. So Cam put Joe in the best position to succeed as a QB and for the offense to succeed in their role of the overall game plan for winning.

Slowly Ozzie's been getting Joe and Cam the pieces to open it up and really be deadly.

Just might see it happen this year.

Vmax that is very well said man. At the end of the day it comes down to the personnel you have. Cameron wants to run a vertical passing offense and now he has the weapons to do that.

  8. They havent signeed blackmon yet...i have no idea what that holdup is...it has to stem from the dui

Getting a DUI before he signed his contract wasn't a smart move by Blackmon at all. I agree though that he will make their WR core better once he signs. The sad part about it is Evans hasn't fully taken advantage of the opportunity with Blackmon holding out. I heard that Laurent Robinson hasn't been overly impressive and Evans is still on the bubble, if he can't make the Jags WR core then it will be really hard for him to make any other team.

  9. If yhey would have brought evans back. You would have heard me long distance. Now that i reside in fl...evans isnt going to make the jags!!

Yeah my buddy told me the same thing, he hasn't wowed anyone. Evans is a good guy and a true pro but sometimes it comes to a point when a player just doesn't have it anymore. He made that great one handed catch in the playoff game against Houston but he hasn't made a habit of making catches like that throughout his career. He's relied on his speed since he isn't a great route runner and now that part is declining. The Jags have a mediocre WR core and he's on the bubble? I think he's done but I do wish him all the best.

  10. Like I said Cundiff has owned what he did and I respect that.

He didnt make a single excuse and he had the opportunity to do so.

He also dodnt crawl into a hole like del greco or norwood. I respect that.

It is what it is. Could any of us handle that type of pressure, fail, the keep our heads high?

Its not so easy and he is human like the rest of us.

If tucker is better then hes better. Bit if cundiff proves to be the better kicker we go with him.

I agree with everything you said, I'm still a little irked that a fraction of fans wanted Lee Evans back. The man is on the decline and injuries are starting to catch up to him. A friend of mine lives in Jacksonville and he told me that Evans has looked solid in camp but is still on the roster bubble fighting for the 4th WR spot.

  11. I didn't go...too hot and humid.

The Westminister mornings were great before the heat of the day set in. I miss them.

We'll have to wait until 7:30 Thursday to see them.

So the crowd spoke...Tucker's bringing the heat. I'm trying to remember all the great things Cundiff has done because he was dependable until that last kick. The Ravens ran through a lot of kickers before they settled on him. The long kickoffs don't matter anymore since they moved the tee up.

If the cut Billy and go with Tucker and he disappoints, then they could go another stretch of seasons trying to find a solid kicker. I got that "Al Del Greco" image in my mind and can't shake it.

Whatever happens, I can't leave early for the bathroom like I would when Stover trotted onto the field.

I hear they cheered when it was anounced that Phelps won #22.

Time is running out to get Ngata, Smith, McKinnie and McPhee practice reps for Thursday. I feel like it's running out for Kindle. He needs to make a statement Thursday.

Jacoby Jones had a nice grab and the fans cheered him. I'm warming up to him. It will be hard to game plan the passing game if he becomes dependable.

Ngata, McKinnie and Smith are expected to be back on Monday full go and McPhee has already been practicing full go so stop worrying for now. Kindle is having a strong camp so his stock is up at this point.

  12. Im real anxious to see our D-Line smash the shitout of Matty Melt, cant stand that overrated POS

Matty Ice is starting to lose some of his street cred and popularity. First he wasn't voted on NFL Network's top 100 list by the players and Ron Jaworski put Joe in the top ten of his QB list and not Ryan. He might be or will end up being the 3rd best QB in his own division by the time the season ends with Brees on top followed by the emerging Cam Newton.

  13. OK...OK, I didn't mean to start another round of contention here...Um, I actually thought Preston was pretty complimentary about the Ravens. I'm not worried about the defensive line though. I think it will be tough. Its the O-line that scares the hell out of me.

I would prefer you use the word concerned when referring to the Oline, it's not a life or death situation so no need to use the word scared. That annoys the hell out of me when fans say they are scared about certain issues with the Ravens, they don't directly affect you personally. If the Oline continues to be a problem it's not going to ruin or end your life. Can you please use the word concerned?

  14.

Haha we were just joking. Crav is a big T. Smith fan, like most are here. No one is worried about Torrey. Like Crav said a lot of us have been on this board since 2001, just am inside joke.

My bad LOL, I've had a long day today. So is this part of the heckling process for the new guy along with getting blindsided by the force that is papa? LOL

  15.

Flacc, its a joke from way back when..I was a big Travis Taylor Fan, how'd he turn out? Then we drafted Darling, and I was a bigger fan since he was from the Bahamas...So my rooting interest with WR's has been well less than spectacular..Remember, most of us go back to the 2000 season in here..Just be very cautious around VMax..He's "Out there"

Crav, I definitely understand where you are coming from. I had my doubts when it came to the WRs too but Torrey is wired differently then those guys are. The man played most of his rookie year with a sports hernia and he didn't let it get to him. He did exactly what Lee Evans was supposed to do last year and he was clutch in the AFC Title game. I know it's hard to trust the Ravens when it comes to WRs but I'm telling you man please I'm begging you to give Torrey a chance, he will be the one to end the WR drought. Clayton, Taylor, Darling and the other scraps weren't ready for the big time, Torrey is ready, the man caught the game winning TD against the hated Steelers on Sunday Night Football.

Speaking of Lee Evans he hasn't been doing so great with the Jags in camp and is on the bubble.

  16. That looked to be a very comprehensive truthful eval of the team. He spoke glowingly of Joe and the WR corps. He also talked up the DB's. He had his reservations about both lines. Not unreasoned at all.

I agree that he gave a very accurate evaluation of the current state of the Ravens. There are question marks on both lines but things do change in the NFL pretty quickly so we shall see if the Ravens resolve these issues as the season progresses. No final predictions papa, no team truly should be eliminated from the Superbowl discussion, you never know what could happen. You have every right to give the Ravens no shot at winning the Superbowl but it doesn't mean it will come true, in the real world there are no guarantees.

  17. The fact that Crav doesn't like him is enough for me to believe we'll have a good season. With that said, I'm worried about T smith this season...

You are way off base when you say you're worried about Torrey Smith. Smith is having a great camp and looks like a much more polished receiver. You will be eating a lot of crow this year if you continue to doubt Torrey Smith, I suggest you change your tune otherwise I will have to whip up a special crow dish for you.

  18. He says, "Im not part of the corporate world"

Ummm you're in the media. I dont care if your a contractor or not. You're part of that world.

This guy just reaks of pretender.

I do have to admit that he is not as bad as he used to be. Probably because Harbaugh gi es him little to work with.

I said the other day in another thread that Preston misses Billick because Billick gave him plenty to work with. Preston could write about how Billick treated the media, his Camp Creampuff training camps, and the issues in the lockerroom towards the end of the Billick era. Since Harbaugh has been here Preston doesn't have much to work with because Harbaugh doesn't give into Preston and his games. The Ravens have stability at quarterback with Flacco and throughout the organization in general and that makes things boring for Preston.

  19. Cam is still a dick :)

That is not a hoax but he is showing signs that he's changing. Maybe the growth of Smith, Dickson, Pitta and the addition of Jacoby Jones will allow Cam to truly run his offense the way he wants to since he has more speed (Cam loves big tall fast athletic targets). It still doesn't change the fact that he could have been more creative with what he had to work with, time will tell if we see a different Cameron.
