    RIP Mr C

I thought he was cool. I wanted to find a clip where he offers Richie a Lifesaver after he loses the basketball game, but I cannot find it anywhere. Oddly enough many other people seem to remember the same clip because I keep reading about it.
  2. You're a glutton for punishment if you don't turn it off after the 3rd!
  3. You're right, I think he threw it away before running out of bounds. To me it looked like Boldin was open before Joe started running.
  4. It looked to me on a number of plays they showed replays that people were open and Joe didnt see them. Boldin was open on the Heap double covered pass and one soon after where Joe just ran out of bounds. To me it seems like Joe does not go through full reads but only looks primary, then Rice and if Rice isnt there its confusion time. At this point in his career, and its still early, if the offensive play calling is good Joe executes well. If Joe has to use his head, whether it be to audible out of a poor matchup, or choose another target he doesn't do well at all. That's just how I see it. I place most of the blame on the late game play calling, not Joe.
  5. I primarily blame the offensive play calling. I think we went into a predictable try 'not to lose' safe mode in the 4th and OT. We completely went away from things that worked in the first half to calls everyone could see coming a mile away. A bit of blame has to be on Joe too. If his primary target is covered he looks for Ray Rice and that's it. If its an obvious passing down and Rice isn't on the field then Joe either forces it to the primary regardless of coverage, runs, or throws it away. I don't even think he looks at the other wide outs. Late in the game he had time and it appeared that he had open targets, but he either ran or threw that ill advised pass to a double covered Heap. I don't blame the defense at all.
  6. I'd be lying if I said that thought/joke didnt cross my mind as I watched this story on ESPN earlier.
  7. My posts might have read like that a few times but I don't feel that way. I have had some problems with other aspects of the offense both on and off the field. I don't feel like I am generally a negative fan, with the upgraded weapons I just expected both Joe and the offense to be better and so far I don't think either of them have been. I'm going to be more positive for a while, that late win earned that. I don't like having doubts about what I have seen and I don't like to argue against the team; so I wont for a while. Hopefully no more for a long time.
  8. I don't think its nitpicking or whining to want Joe to improve and better read coverages and find secondary targets. So far I don't think he is very good at those things and think he gets confused when his primary target is covered - unless he has Rice to dump it to. He also still often locks onto his target alerting everyone where its going and has thrown floaters off his backfoot. These are rookie mistakes that need to stop. With my criticisms I do acknowledge that its still just his third year and he should be getting better at those weaknesses. If he does, the sky is the limit. If he doesn't then he will just be a middle of the road QB if that. Though I don't think he was anything better than OK yesterday, the final drive was a beauty and hopefully this will be a big step going forward.
  9. I am amazed it looks like I won this week. I was on a cruise until yesterday and changed my lineup quickly (.65 cents a minute) a few days ago. I must have missed some because I have a player in my lineup who is on his bye week.
  10. No doubt that the quality of opponent was a factor in the offenses not being very successful. If this was the first week the offense was like this I wouldnt feel bad at all. However its 4 weeks in and the Ravens offense has not been good in 3 out of the 4 games. All three were against good defenses, but that is still a concern to me and why I was not totally happy with the effort today.
  11. The offense needs to get better and fast. When we held them to so few yards by the end of the third we have to find a way to score more points to seal the game earlier. Our defense was dominant and if it wasn't for a bad day from Reed I don't know if we win. Its a great win against a tough division opponent on the road so I don't want to dwell too long on any negatives but once again at times Joe seemed off and confused. The way it looks to me, and I admit I am far from an expert, is that if Joe's primary target is covered then he has trouble finding anyone else and he gets confused and does stupid things. But what a beautiful pass to win the game, hopefully we can build on it.
  12. I agree, but I think something like that should be called evenly across the board no matter who does it. Didn't Harbs get a penalty last year for arguing on the field, something Cowher did all the time and never got called?
  13. Easy call, not surprised at all. I would not have been surprised if he was given a penalty right then.

    Perspective

Good post DC. I was worried about being 0-2 at this point and I am glad we are 1-1. Oddly enough I could see us playing a lot better and still being 0-2. I certainly think the play calling was off, Ray Rice was gettign some yards and we went away from the run. In a close game where we had the lead in the 2nd half that's baffling. However I have a hard time looking past Joe for blame. For the third straight game Joe has looked awful versus the Bengals and since they are a divisional opponent that is hard to ignore. And in those three games I think there were plays to be made, but he didn't make them. I can understand a number of INTs in a game where a team is behind and someone has to force the ball in order to try to catch up. Four interceptions in a close game such as this is inexcusable, especially the type of interceptions they were though. I didnt think he looked good against the Jets either, and its the type of mistakes he made that bother me. This year we have targets, and that is a good thing and a bad thing. People argued, as did I to an extent, that the reason Joe's numbers were not better last year was the lack of receiving threats. No such excuses this year, and so far the passing attack has been awful. Oh well, 1-1 after 2 road games isn't bad. BTW I am not happy that my opinion is what it is so far of Joe. I like him and hope he improves and is the Ravens QB for a long long time.
  15. I wonder if Ray bitching about the penalty is a planned distraction to remove heat from Joe. If so its working and probably not a bad idea.
  16. I thought the calls were goofy. The Suggs call today was no worse than the running into the kicker penalty last week. I thought that was really weak, and that was the drive the Ravens ended up their one and only TD that week. So the refs giveth and taketh away.
  17. I am not sure that Flacco has progressed any if at all since his rookie season and therefore I am unsure if he'll ever be more than an OK (at best) QB. However I do feel he is the starter and a young one and I wouldn't bench him yet.

    Week 2

I think it was the Bengals before the Jets. The Bengals made Joe look confused and play awful both times last season.

    Week 2

Despite the better stats I don't think he progressed much last season, I think the breakout of Ray Rice way inflated Joe's numbers. So far this season he looks terrible. Today there were bad throws, bad decisions, and missed open receivers.
