The club released him in the final round of cuts. The 16th-year pro has made 212 NFL regular season starts, intercepting 52 passes and making 12 Pro Bowls.Ravens cornerback Asa Jackson will miss time with a sprained toe, leaving the club with just three healthy cornerbacks entering Tuesday: Lardarius Webb,Jimmy Smith and Chykie Brown. However, Baltimore is reportedly adding at least one cornerback. According to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun, the Ravens have reached a deal with Dominique Franks, who spent time leading up to the regular season with Baltimore. Franks, who turns 27 on Wednesday, appeared in all 16 regular season games as a reserve for Atlanta in 2013.In other Ravens news Tuesday, the club was assigned tight end Ryan Taylor on waivers from Green Bay, per the NFL’s transactions. Taylor, 26, played in the Packers’ first five games of 2014 as a reserve. To make room for Taylor, the club waived tight end Phillip Supernaw. Quote
tsylvester Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Champ doesn't have the wheels any more to cover. He might be decent in zone, but the Ravens run a variety of schemes in the 2ndary. Franks, had some good play here & there, but nothing consistant and is prone to being fooled on the double move.... Maybe, maybe with the safeties doing so horrible they plan to, since they do in dime & some nickle packages, have one or two play the slot, maybe they want to move Champ to safety and move a safety to corner full time... Not sure which one since none of them can cover.......... Quote
