TBird Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 His 6 game suspension is over - till the next one, cough, cough. Anyway, does anyone think he starts next week? Doesnt anyone want him to start next week? It's pretty bad when Franks is taken offthe street and goes more than Chykie Brown. Doesn't say much for Brown. Back to Hill, if he pans out, and he is one of the better safeties, this will be an evenmore dangerous unit. And how about that Rolando? He intercepted a Wilson pass to end the game as Boyz beatthe champs. Ravens get a 6th round pick out of Roland. It was a 7th rounder if Rolandmakes the team and doesn't play but a 6th rounder if he plays 50% of the time and he'splayed most if not all of the time. Ozzie has done well in the 6th round drafting Adilius Thomas, Sam Koch and RB ChesterTaylor. He got today's hero - Campanero in the 7th round. Quote
Robjr83 Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 I'd rather have Bobby Brown covering guys out there then Chykie Brown. Quote
tsylvester Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Dangerous unit? Come, this is a Trap statement, right? Outisde of Jimmy Smith they can't cover and even counting Smith, who I think teams are staying away from not because of talent, but because the middle and right side are wide open. If the front four/five do not get pressure, the seconadry is torched. This is clearly a defense that will only have pressure sacks and not cover sacks. Quote
TBird Posted October 13, 2014 Author Posted October 13, 2014 Trap statement? What's that? That unit did ok yesterday and hung with Indy. Again, a million times over, it was the offense that didn'tshow up vs Indy or Cinci. We should have won both of those games. We still had a chance to tie it onthe last play of the game in Indy w/o the offense showing up and had the lead with 5 mins vs Indy andlost it but Joe gets sacked twice going for the win at the end on an over-balanced line. Ravens lost 2 games to 2 good playoff teams, that's all and a division rival at best. Theycouldn't beat Carolina yesterday but beat us. They took off. Indy let up in 2d half vs Houston whichcame back but turned the pressure back on at the end of game causing fumbles on their last2 drives but vs Ravens they went 100% of the time. Luck was terrible vs that dangerous unit scoring only 20 pts and last TD was a gift from Flaccoafter an interception. Quote

Trap statement as in, gotcha- to get the discussion right where we are again; you blamming the loses on the offense, thinking the defense is the best in the NFL. Read what I said carefully; every game this year anything over the middle to to the weak side (side away from Smith) are wide open, whether the team plays zone or man. Linebackers don't get deep enough drops quick enogh because they always step forward before back on pass plays. So the middle, behind them, is an easy wide open pass. The ends, Suggs & Dumervil, rarely get pressure, often getting blocked by a tight end. Yesterday the pressure came from up the middle, usually because of a blitz. The 2nd half was all 0 litz for the most part something they rarely do because it leads to big plays if they don't get home. Tampa is a terrible team right now, trying to adjust toe Lovey Smith's way of coaching. This defense will be exposed, again, by good passing team with decent offensive lines. Quote
Robjr83 Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 How much of this blame should be on Pees? Watching the game I litterally thought the end WR's were not covered because the DB's were so far back they were out of the camera shot. Even the best DBs are going to give up plays when you give a 15 yard cushion. Quote

There is the "fear" of giving up big plays, or going 3 & out on the offensive side. So Pees did something "smart", by playing the "prevent" with a twist, he called multiple blitzes on almost ever play to try and force the ball out quicker. It worked for the most part, giving up 17 points and yards. I can't really blame him for the way the secondary played in the 2nd half. Quote

Yea, it was vs TB, but the offense lost the 2 gamesfor us. Joe didn't score 30 pts vs Cinci and Indy. Twenty one would have won the Indy game. Quote

Are you a tween, a teen, a young adult or a thirty something + ? I ask because your reading comprehension and quick twitch to fire seems to indicate the former two, rather than the latter two. Anywho, I did not mention him directly, you are correct there. However, in my first response and subsequent second post in this thread, on top of all of our discussions on this defense in other threads, including on where Hill was discussed, I gave my opinion on the defense over all, which, most inteintelligentotball wise, person could infer that no, the addition of one safety is not likely to improve the pass defense because there is larger issues at hand that make this pass defense, stink. As I said in those other threads, yes which you were apart of, the Ravens do not have a safety on the active roster, who can cover, and in this thread, a corner, nickel nor dime back who can cover, yes, I know I am leaving out the slightly injured/bad back corner, who may or may not get back to his form. TBird Posted October 14, 2014 Author Posted October 14, 2014 UM, fast with the quick twitch to fire? Pot meet kettle with your your "Trap statement." I skipped most of your long winded reply because I wanted to know the specifics on Hill and if he could contribute or will he get into trouble again. You gave a long winded expose on the defense overall which all of us know already from your other long winded posts and ignoring that the D held up vs 2 good teams when the O failed to show up but you keep forgetting that. I wanted specifics on Hill, not your pessimistic views on the defense which is why I skipped most of it while looking for Hill's name. Like Craven, I like our chances for the PO run and Ozzie was thinking the same by signing Hill whom he thought would help down that road, especially with more injuries to come. So if you have anything to specifically say about Hill, please indulge. I'd like to see it not more long windedstuff about the right side of the secondary. Quote
