TBird Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 The #2 draft pick two years ago just hasn't been able to make the field. He's improved a lot and is coming along but he still has too muchtalent in front of him like Ravens #1 pick Mosley last year and D. Smith. It's frustrating for him. Several teams have tried to trade for him but Ozzie always declines. He was originally projected in the first round andDeCosta said he was one of the best line backers in his draft class. http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/bs-sp-ravens-arthur-brown-0902-20150901-story.html Quote
thundercleetz Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 He's cheap and under contract. Who knows how much longer Smith has. Keep Brown and give him a shot when Smith retires or if he gets hurt. Good depth. Quote
TBird Posted September 2, 2015 Author Posted September 2, 2015 Great point. So he isn't a bust - right? Quote
thundercleetz Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Great point. So he isn't a bust - right?Maybe a disappointment thus far, but still early to say a bust. Quote
tsylvester Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 If he ever learns how to avoid the wash, how to properly make his drop, his reads and, remember how to tackle, then he won't be a bust. But as Cleetz said, cheap back up.... Quote
vmax Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 HE NEEDS TO TAKE OVER THIS GAME TONIGHT! Quote
tsylvester Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 HE NEEDS TO TAKE OVER THIS GAME TONIGHT! Did not happen, a few tackles, a caused fumble. Frankly, against the caliber of talent neither he nor Orr stood out other than a play here or there. No depth behind the two starters, they may have to switch to a 5-2 to keep the best front seven on the field. Look for two new linebackers draft next year, one of them, likely in the first round. Some good ones coming out. Quote

tsylvester Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 What do you think of Beyer as an OLB prospect? I think Stan said it best last night; practice squad for sure. He is very raw but showed over each game, he learns quickly, rarely repeats a mistake and he is very smart. It is clear he studies tape as many plays as he jumped/sniffed out. The question is can he get stronger and a bit quicker? He is a keeper right now on the practice squad, worth a chance next year to atleast be a great special teams player. Quote
TBird Posted September 4, 2015 Author Posted September 4, 2015 As mentioned Brown forced a fumble and the undrafted Orr as been ahead of him all summer. Quote
vmax Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 What do you think of Beyer as an OLB prospect? He reminds me of a young Jarrett Johnson. I watched him all pre season. He's a battler, he took on anybody in front of him whistle to whistle... a winner IMO. He needs to get stronger, which he can. He's the same size as McCrary. Quote
