dc.
http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/investigations/bal-homicide-embed-part-one-story.html Part One of a series The Sun is running on murders this year, in the series their main crime reporter gets to follow an investigation with the detectives. First: great read, but sad and frustrating. And that's only day one of the crime... Second: So reminiscent of shows like Homicide and The Wire, hard to shake the similarities. Feels fictional. Spen
I'll check it out. If you haven't read it, I highly recommend "Homicide" the non fiction book by David Simon. They adapted some of the cases and stories for the TV show but the book was fascinating.
dc.
Simon's writing has been on my read list forever - both Homicide and The Corner. One day. One more reason to check it out... Meanwhile, showing of Homicide - the city still uses the "big board" on homicides shown in the TV show. Still white board, red and black pen. Crazy to see the pic in this story. And a lot of red this year of course.
Spen
The Corner was really good too but so heavy and sad. Thanks for the reminder, I still never watched The Corner.
deeshopper
Is it free to read on the Sun site? Most of the articles aren't free, even simple things like weather and traffic reports. I prefer the Washington Post because at least they give you 10 free pages, and free subscriptions if you work in education.
dc.
It's not, but I never seem to get busted by their wall. I access many by twitter, so maybe that's why?
dc.
PS- the Post gives free subscriptions for ed workers? How do I get that? I have just been fighting their paywall and sneaking around it (again, twitter seems to help) for years!
Spen
That was a good read. Interesting and sad. That board, all the red. Wow
