deeshopper Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 Maybe they should take some.lessons from Venice.... Maybe build it all on stilts, on automated risers lifting the buildings when the water level reachs x? Costly yes, but jeepers. Venice is sinking. Quote
tsylvester Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 Venice is sinking.Yeah but this is what the 3rd or 4th iteration over the past 300+ years, no? If you bag it, it will float... Quote
tsylvester Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 So their plan is to purchase 10 existing buildings, then tear them down. They will build the culver deeper, adding a 2nd one, and wider. 5 year, $40-50 mil at least. No idea where the money will come from... I know these people are "smarter" than me, but I saw a vid not too long ago about inflatable, automatic, dams. Why not install them along the base of the buildings, use a sensor, when, if the water gets too high up stream, they inflate. Certainly a lot less money and no need to kick people and businesses out of Ellicott City. https://www.damitdams.com/inflatable-dams-inflatable-flood-barriers/ Quote
