vmax
Most but not all of the players are healthy... There was marked improvement as the team returned to practice Monday and started preparing for Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans. Lee Evans, Ben Grubbs and David Reed all practiced. Haruki Nakamura said he felt a lot better. Asked if the team was getting closer to 100 percent healthy, Harbaugh said “we must be closer.” Not all the news was rosy. Harbaugh said rookie cornerback Jimmy Smith, who suffered a high ankle sprain in week 1, was “not there yet, that’s for sure,” and Smith expressed concern about whether he would play Sunday. “I’m optimistic about everything, but realistically, I doubt it,” Smith said. Harbaugh also said safety Tom Zbikowski, who suffered a concussion in the Ravens’ win over the Jets on Oct. 2, had not been cleared to play. Obviously, it remains to be seen whether any of the players coming back from injuries end up playing a major role, or playing at all, on Sunday.http://www.csnbaltimore.com/10/10/11/Ravens-getting-healthier/landing.html?blockID=575294&feedID=6703
yagersports
It will be awhile before Jimmy Smith is ready to play. It's not like he's a Vet that can lean on his experience if he's only 80-85%. He's a rookie, and as such, we can't put him on the field until he's 95-100%. It's his raw talent that is going to make up for his lack of experience. We need him at 100%. It also takes 6+ weeks to heal from a high ankle sprain and that's a best case scenario. We're probably looking at Jacksonville or Arizona. If he can't get on the field for one of those two games, I say keep him out until after the Pittsburgh game and he can return during the Seattle game. oldno82
High ankle sprains always seem to take longer that predicted. I'll be glad when we get him back but he'll miss at least 2 more games.
vmax
A little better and clearer today... Six players returned to practice Wednesday after sitting out prior to the team’s week-long break.Guard Ben Grubbs (toe), wide receiver Lee Evans (ankle), wide receiver/kick returner David Reed (shoulder), safety Tom Zbikowski (concussion), safety Haruki Nakamura (knee) and linebacker Dannell Ellerbe (hamstring) were all listed as limited practice participants. It’s not a guarantee that they will play Sunday against the Houston Texans, but it’s a positive sign. The team will continue to monitor how their injuries respond to practice, list their game status on Friday and perhaps make some game-time decisions.Only cornerback Jimmy Smith (ankle) and cornerback Chris Carr (thigh) did not return to practice Wednesday.http://blogs.baltimoreravens.com/2011/10/12/six-ravens-return-to-limited-practice/ We can count Smith and Carr out. The Titans are dinged up with 18 players on their injury report.
