tsylvester Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 Yep, you get more blowout games because of the "rules" that allow teams into the playoffs. It is a great story, Indiana and especially SMU back after the death penalty years ago. But they are no match for the over rated PSU and Notre Dame, up next Boise St and Arizon St are prime to get blown out. Used to be only 1 blow out game, maybe 2 when they went to the 4 team playoffs. Georgia might get beat badly simply because their starting qb is out with an ac tear in his throwing shoulder. Proper seating would have had reseeding where the lesser teams play each other to minimize these blowouts. Even with the "free agency" now in college ball, leading to this year there isn't 1 great or two great teams, there is still a big difference in the depth and size of of the players at the big schools. Yes, let little Jimmy play and get broken in half Quote
tsylvester Posted December 22, 2024 Author Posted December 22, 2024 Yep, it's one thing like Tennessee gettimg smoked, they are one of those team that just come out flat, but has the talent to beat any team. This year there just isnt a great team. Even Oregon is beatable. But these smaller schools clearly are not up to it and next week will be even worse with blowouts. Â Quote
papasmurfbell Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 Don’t forget the portal.  A lot of guys have already left their teams.  One school had to withdraw from a bowl bc about 50% hit the portal.  The new rule on that is the portal doesn’t open until after Jan 1.  on who gets into the dance I would like to see the group that picks who is in ended.  No more opinions.  If a team wins a game they get 15 pts.  For every team the losing team beats the original winner gets 10 pts.  Finally any team beaten by the original losing team that wins games gives the original winner 5 pts.  I would add it strength of victory also.  If you beat a school by 10 it’s an extra 5 pts.  20 gets you 10.  30 gets you 15 and so on.  At the end of the season the team with the highest point value is the 1 seed and so forth. just making an example here bama w lsu 32-20 w old miss  35-21 W Arkansas 45-30 w auburn 27-20 w Texas 30-27 w tam 35-14 w Louis tech 52-14 w ou 27-24 w sc 45-14 w mizz 52-20 l ug l uf they get 150 pts from the wins and 55 from the strength of victory.   so looking at lsu w old miss w msu w mizz w ug w auburn w Texas So add the wins lsu gets to bama and you get 210.  Bama would get the wins from each of their losing opponents.  Finally 3 levels down and we look at auburn. w mizz w Kent w vandy that gives an additional 15 points to bama.
