papasmurfbell Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/writers/don_banks/08/17/ray-rice/index.html "Getting there is not good enough any more,'' said the Baltimore Ravens stud running back, laying flat on his back at his locker between recent training camp practices. "I've played in two AFC Championship Games since I've been here, and been in the playoffs every year. The playoffs are the norm now. It's not just about the feeling of making the playoffs any more. It's about taking care of business again and this time actually getting the job done. Do we have the pieces? Yes, but it's going to take every man on board.'' vmax Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 OK...if they don't have all the parts, then getting to the AFC Championship game would be one hell of an accomplishment. They never played to "just go to the playoffs". Their goal is the Super Bowl. If they fall short, then they will feel "it's not good enough". I think every competetor feels that way. They all hate to lose. That doesn't mean that they didn't have a great season. A lot of teams last year had great seasons...they just weren't the last team standing. He said it's going to take "every man on board". That means you too. The 12th man. You're going to be a heavy burden for the rest of us fans to carry if you think this season is pointless throughout this year. I said "If".In 2000, I never thought the Ravens would get to and win the Super Bowl, but I marveled and relished every victory. I paid attention because I saw something special was happening despite the string of ugly, ugly wins. I learned a lot about being a fan that year.Enjoy the moment. Enjoy winning. I still remember the taste of losing from '96, '97' and '98....and seeing no end in sight. I want a Super Bowl like everybody but first, just give me a competetive team to follow. Quote
yagersports Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Well said Max. Getting to and winning the Super Bowl is never about having no weaknesses. Most people make this misconception. A little luck and the ability to overcome the weaknesses usually are the major factors for the last man standing. Quote
