  1. At this point, I just can't see the Ravens making the playoffs. I love it how every time the Ravens do better than expected, the fan base talks playoffs, only to be disappointed when they fall short or are one-and-done. Technically, I can pull up the old season prediction threads, and I challenge anyone to say that the playoffs were within reach for the Ravens this year.

For me, the bottom line is that I predicted a 4-12 season (or, at best, 5-11). These extra wins so far have been gravy and I'm really enjoying. It shows just how good this team (this offense in particular!) is going to be next year.

I don't see the Ravens making the playoffs. When they can beat two teams with winning records (and the Eagles do not count, as they were 5-5 when the Ravens faced them, and therefore not a winning team), then maybe I'll start expecting the Ravens to reach the playoffs. Until then, they need to beat the Bengals. And then Washington. And then the Steelers.

Coincidentally, I believe that any chance the Ravens have at the playoffs rest with their final game of the season. But again, they have to beat two winning teams first. Can they do it? So far, they haven't been able to. We'll soon find out.

  2. LOS ANGELES (AP) - Dr Pepper is making good on its promise of free soda now that the release of Guns N' Roses'"Chinese Democracy" is a reality.

The soft-drink maker said in March that it would give a free soda to everyone in America if the album dropped in 2008. "Chinese Democracy," infamously delayed since recording began in 1994, goes on sale Sunday.

"We never thought this day would come," Tony Jacobs, Dr Pepper's vice president of marketing, said in a statement. "But now that it's here, all we can say is: The Dr Pepper's on us."

Beginning Sunday at 12:01 a.m., coupons for a free 20-ounce soda will be available for 24 hours on Dr Pepper's Web site. They'll be honored until Feb. 28.

Dr Pepper is owned by Dr Pepper Snapple Group, Inc.

  3. ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -The NFL is giving Adam "Pacman" Jones another chance.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Wednesday the suspended cornerback has been reinstated by league commissioner Roger Goodell, but he must miss two more games - this Sunday and the following game on Thanksgiving. He'll be back Dec. 7 at Pittsburgh.

"He much appreciates the Cowboys and Jerry Jones for standing behind him and encouraging him, and he's grateful to the commissioner," said Worrick Robinson, Adam Jones' Nashville-based attorney.

Jerry Jones would not reveal any conditions the commissioner may have imposed and the league office said it would not have any immediate comment. However, Robinson, said, "He knows what he has to do. It's very clear."

"He's a long way, a long way from having clear sailing," Jerry Jones said.
