It reminds us that these guys are just like us, humans. Very well done The Ringer: Marcus Peters Confronts His Football Mortality. https://www.theringer.com/nfl/2022/11/30/23482314/marcus-peters-ravens-nfl-mortality

Agreed Max, his route combinations are either atrocious or being run incorrectly, all the time, in every game. Multiple players in the same zone, no spacing, no routes run to purposely get another player open. So, either his seems stink or the players are mixed up on what to run. We are no talking about turning inside when they should turn outside. We are talking about running a flat route to the field side when they should have run it to the boundaries. If that is the case and the coaches are not correcting them, or if they are and the players, for years, and different players, are still doing this, it is quite an indictment on the coaches so someone has to be fired. Even if that firing is allowing them to leave for another job
-
Nothing new there Max, that is what all teams do, try to do; match ups. They tries to do a lot of things they thought would work, but failed..

That was totally tubular

Denver has tissue paper for an offensive line. Our pass rush should get at least 5 sacks. Wilson is not the scrambler he used to be, so hit em early and often. Enough fooling around, shit or get off the pot. I would really love to see Huntley get a shot if the offense continues to struggle to score. Clearly the coaches & players are tired of it, redzone struggles, lack of big plays, I expect it to be rectified against the Broncos. It won't be very cold and the rain should end well before kickoff..

Doubtful they turn to him, pure far reaching speculation

Not much can be done right now, just play the string out, see what happens. The funny thing is the defense shut down the Jags for all but the last 2 mins of the game. Even on the short field because of the fumble by Gus, they held them to a field goal. So what happened in the last 2 mins? They couldn't be tired from the game, could they? Despite the close score, the Ravens to that point had dominated time of posession. Yet the entire secondary looked slow as snails. Even the pass rush that created a 3rd and 20, then disappeared. Was it scheme in the end? Why has Hurts been able to have so much room to run, yet when you watch the Ravens, it is as if Lamar is playing on a field half the width, with defenders at every yard. Simple, no one respects the deep passing game of the Ravens, they do respect the one for the Eagles... Fire Roman now, wait till the end, I'm all for it. But will Lamar, who worked "all off season" with a qb coach and receivers, really get it together and get the touch needed for deeper routes? Will he start to read a defense, know where to throw, throw on time and accurately so that there can be yak? Because if not, if this is Lamar where we're argue if a pass that is not complete is a drop or just an impossible catch, what difference is a new oc going to make? Running the ball is now made more difficult with safeties and backers 10 yards off the los, hell bent on stopping the run, not too concerned with the passing game.

Agree, if it comes down to it, Smith over Lamar

I get that I am an old dude, but seems to me, even on the Twitter, one should not say those types of things.... & even a yutte should know better than to say such things

Pretty much describes Lamar's response to a twitter-er... https://profootballtalk-nbcsports-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/11/27/lamar-jackson-responds-to-social-media-critic-with-vulgar-tweet/amp/?amp_gsa=1&_js_v=a9&usqp=mq331AQKKAFQArABIIACAw%3D%3D#amp_tf=From %1%24s&aoh=16695953750214&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&share=https%3A%2F%2Fprofootballtalk.nbcsports.com%2F2022%2F11%2F27%2Flamar-jackson-responds-to-social-media-critic-with-vulgar-tweet%2F

Good bye Lamar, thanks for the memories. Yes, there were some drops, but not the type of drops every qb gets. He throws a pass to the flat that is Duv is standing straight up it hits him below the knee, Duv drops it rather than being tackled for no gain He throws a high pass to Andrews in the endzone, Drew can't handle it as he is being hit by the defender. If Lamar had thrown it sooner, it is an easier catch. He has Robinson wide deep, Duv wide open deep and over throws both of them by 20 yards. Yippie, he threw it as far as he could to Jackson who makes the catch, 62 yards to set up the go ahead touchdown. Big whoop, Jackson was wide open... They played zone most of the game, that requires either throwing on time or just waiting for a receiver to move to the next window. Lamar can't find anyone open? Really? He scrambles to his right, has Andrews right in front of him in the endzone, but can't see him? He has Robinson wide open on a crossing at the back of the endzone but doesn't square up nor set his feet, throws it too low to be caught, but some will say it was a drop; bull. Tag and trade him, he can't read a defense, can't throw deep, get rid of him. Yes, the play calling and routes were questionable, but he is holding this team back.

Marcus Peters clearly had too much to eat over the holiday, took away his speed and his mind on how to cover. 3rd and 20, under 2 mins left, game on the line and they get the first down. That says it all...
-
If the Ravens had Trevor Lawrence instead of Lamar, this game would not be close. Is the loss on Lamar? Not entirely, the defense choked on turkey. But Lamar missed a number of passes that would have put this game away. Shame, Tucker missed a new record by a foot
-
To quote what I think was what Harbs said after the 4th and less than one; "what the ""bleep"" was that!?! That sums up the first half for the offense. Lamar again shows that he can't throw accurately deep, missing a wide open Robinson on the first series. End result after a nice opening drive is Tucker. The second possession after a great stand by the defense to force a turnover on downs is Lamar missing wide open receivers, but also, with Jax in zone in the redzone, Andrews, seeing Lamar void the pocket, drifts his route (in the endzone) into a defender. Lamar is forced to throw to Robinson on a crossing route along the back of the endzone. Had Andrews just sat his route down, easy pitch & catch. Lamar had a clear lane to Robinson, but fails to square up, set his feet, to throw accurately. Another missed opportunity to score a touchdown, Tucker time. Then on a 4th and less than one after a Questionable spot, they try to get tricky and have Lamar squirm around the end where he gets stopped short of the line to gain. Play calling is questionable and getting the plays in on time is also perhaps the worst it has ever been. The defense once again has a blown coverage leading to one touchdown and a big gain on the final drive by Jax to end the half up 10-9. This team as a whole is disjointed, they better get it together, play, play calling, or this is going to be a loss.

A weather delay, this is a real sport, football is played in all weather, this is bunk!
-
Is Lamar dinged up, a slight hip bruise by latest reports from the Panthers game. Is the added muscle over the offseason to blame for his wheels to keep slipping, slowing him down a bit? Is he performing at a level of all of that guaranteed money he wants? This is the game, against a poor, young, hungry team capable of beating you where Lamar needs to shine. Proper zone reads, running from the pocket when the opportunity presents itself, not holding the ball to prove that you are a pocket passer. Making timely, accurate throws, giving the receiver yak capability. The time is now.

Funny note, Jags are 0-15 when their opponents convert 55% or better of their redzone chances since 2021... Come Roman, get some good redzone plays in there....
-
Of all of the bad teams the Ravens face, the Jags have the most dangerous qb, Lawrence can make any throw, has a cannon for an arm, this secondary will be tested. We could end up in a shoot out, Robinson, Andrews will be key, but who steps up in the 2nd half when the Jags take them away? Proche?

Hey Max, since it is Thanksgiving week, thanks for always being the sunshine around here, even when the season is cloudy...
-
I tell ya VA, it is great to talk football with "adults".
-
Well it will be warm and not windy, so Lamar should play well This is a team with a good young qb who is big, strong, can run; sacks will be difficult, eyes need to keep him in sight. Their defense isn't great at one thing, they can be run on and thrown on. The question is will Roman use a real play book in this game? Last week he called runs that worked into the strength of the defense, which, as expected, failed. Jax will try to keep the edge, so inside runs are needed. They will hover close to the los, but drop in cover 2 & 3. Seam routes are the key. They don't tackle well on the outside, those wide receiver screens should work well. Question 2, is as you said VA, will the defense be focused or will they rest on their laurels, come in overconfident?
-
Drops, as I said earlier in this game thread as they happened, were not all drops; it is a very subjective term. Included in those five is the screen pass to Drake who had to stop, leap with one hand, just to get a few fingers on it. A proper pass is not only complete, but likely a touchdown as he had a convoy and very few defenders between he and the endzone. One to Proche, again, off target, not a real drop as Lamar threw it behind him, perhaps expecting him to stop his route, we will never know. One to Richard, thrown slightly too far, Richard, a fullback, on a wheel route, had to reach mid stride, that one is a maybe, maybe not drop. One to Andrews, also on a wheel route, he did drop it, would have been a big gainer. There are four of them from memory, only one, the last one a real drop. You keep skipping over the passes that caused the receivers to stop a route, get tackled right away, have no yak because while they caught the pass, the pass was off target. I expect the blinders from the Ravens reporters like Mink, can't complain when writing for their website. But not from you max, you are too smart buddy. As for Oweh, he had some snaps, got an assist on a tackle. He is being fazed out it appears by other players doing their jobs properly. Here is the snap count https://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/ravens-snap-counts-grades-panthers-week-11 Bravo I say to McDonald, he is doing a great job changing up the schemes, adjusting in game from series to series. His 4th quarter schemes are masterful, and, he is using players to the best of their abilities, those who perform according to scheme play. Those who freelance or do not perform well sit down. Bout freaking time!
-
The completion % is flawed max. If not for Andrews digging one out of the dirt, it's another incomplete pass. If Lamar throws it chest high, Andrews runs for 20+ yards instead of s 6 yard gain. Go back through the game thread, Andrews is not the only one who had to make a tough catch while being wide open, and not get any yak because of the off target throw. The wind had very little to do with those passes, it only affects long, high passes down field. He also made some bad choices on the read option plays that resulted in a loss of yards. Yes, let us look at the good; the defense was great against a bad team. Best that they have played all season, a complete game. Yes, Lamar completed 72%, but he left a lot of yards on the field against a bad team. In his defense, it was one of the worst game plans offensively from Roman, as I complained about all through this thread. Improper running plays, poor route combinations, etc The question is why? To do the minimum to win, so as to not give out better schemes for teams to scout? Because Lamar missed the most important day of practice? (with apparent good reason) The one time they did run right type of running scheme resulted in Drake running for 20, setting up the only touchdown. Even then, Lamar looked very slow, again..

Oweh had 1 assist, bout what he is good for, he and Ojabah were reach/wasted picks. But then it is early in their "careers",,,,

Yeah, this super conference stuff is really taking off and the NCAA is on its last legs
