Yeah taking a 6 or 10 yd play for a first down is great. Screw that 30 yarder down the sideline. No need for that chunk play that will loosen up the D near the LOS.
I agree let them play. But draft someone also. The team has to find out before payday. Put Lamar on that island and make him throw the ball some in places to that open up the defense.
I think both is probably the best bet. A coach like Shannahan could work the system to get Lamar more comfortable. Also route combos that get guys open in more advantageous places. But he would have to make tweaks and I am not sue Lamar would be dynamic in teh pass game. Just more respectable and that could be enough.
Coaches put their players in the best position to succeed. But in this case can Lamar do more but is being held back. Time to know the answer to that. But the only way to know is put him in those positions where he might look bad.
After a few weeks if the defensive ratchets down again like last yr start calling those pass plays. Put Lamar on full display. Sink or swim. It will show just what kind of QB he is.
No WR will play in this run first offense with so few attempts in the air. It hurt them on the market in their next contract.
I am in agreement on that. Harbs should hire a dynamic pass guy for the pass game coordinator and make Roman use the concepts. But John is clueless on these things so as always an OC pushes concepts that hurt the team and Harbs just lets it happen.
8 go back to the missed open players. I go back to th3 bad throws. That has zero to do with scheme and talent around him.
I go back to what I said last yr. Open it up and let Lamar sink or swim.
Apparently dez, brown, and Sneed all liked Twitter posts that railed against the offensive system this off season. Roman maybe an issues but I do think Lamar makes it hard. Of the 3 qbs he has had as oc Lamar is the worst passer.
That is simple. Being a 1 yr deal to get past the lowering of the cap it's sort of a prove it deal. His stats would be crap hear and hurt his market for the 22 fa class.
