  1. Or J.J. Watt, or Ryan Kerrigan, or Adrian Clayborn. The entire 2011 draft was stocked with Big Ten DEs, so that's one of the more ridiculous things you've ever said, really.

Oh, and the SEC is overrated.

Which one of those guys was hyped before the draft? They were all solid-but-not-exciting, unlike Gholston and Graham.

And your SEC comment is more ridiculous than anything I've ever said.

  2.

We then need to get a coach that can coach them up if we are going with developmental prospects. Our O-Line has been average to poor for quite a while now. The only linemen to have developed in the last few years have been Yanda and Brown and Brown is now in St.Louis.

Yanda in the 3rd, Brown in the 4th... pretty much what we're expecting.

  3. I don't see ILB as a need for the Ravens. Yes Ray is old, but the defense played very good when Ray went down. McClain filled in very well.

I don't know about all that... McClain has never looked better than average to me.

  4. If the best center in the draft drops to the Ravens, I would take a center. Perhaps the 2nd best as well depending on what the dropoff in talent is. If no center is available, I would BPA either LB or S.

You're talking about Mario Pouncey of Florida, the least-hyped of the Pouncey Tripletts. Guy needs to fire his publicist.

  5. That is more than likely very true. But it has allowed them to move all over the board in other ways.

Same thing with the Colts. While Peyton is the QB, Bill Polian is a GM-genius. When Peyton Manning goes down, they barely win two games and everyone - including the Polians- gets canned.

Giants with Eli, Jerry Reese is a genius. Until Roethlisberger, the Steelers couldn't make it to the Big Dance.

And everyone knows how much having solidity at QB has made our coaching staff look more competent than it probably is, whereas everyone we had before Flacco on offense was awful.

You could argue that we actually have had MORE success than New England, outside of the quarterback position, because we have consistently found stars at the top of the draft, while they keep trading down.

  6.

Why? He is OK but he is not that good. He drops so many passes.

He's another Mark Clayton. His stats on the year: 39 receptions, 523 yards, 4 TD. And his best year, 2010, was 60 receptions for 944.

No thanks...Tandon Doss is probably that good or better.

  7. There is a reason why NE has been in 5 of 11 SB's since they turned it around. They treat picks like gold. They get them as often as possible. It is something that should be copied.

Because they hit on a hall of fame QB in the 6th round?

No matter how great the Pats drafts go the past 11 years, they probably don't make a single Supe Bowl without Brady.

That's really all that matters in this conversation.

  8. Jeffrey absolutely would be a great pick at 29. He isn't going to wow anyone with his speed but he still put up big numbers in the SEC and all the NFLesque speed that flies around in that conference. I just don't know that we can afford to take him there. There will be some good LBs available around that spot and possibly a franchise C as well.

    Two words: red zone.

I don't know if we can afford NOT to.

  9. Remember, Hakeem Nicks went #29 to the Giants back in 2009...

I remember a lot of us were high on him at the time. (we moved up to take Michael Oher at #23)

Then Kenny Britt went next at #30.

Dez Bryant went one pick before us, #25, the next year. (Tool.) Then we trade down and Gronkowski goes one pick before us at #42. (We would have taken him.) Then our actual pick falls down 6 flights of stairs. (estimate)

Strange that two years later we're still looking for a big, strong young receiver who can actually catch...

God Bless Torrey Smith, but he'll always be that #2 guy who makes the #1 guy even more dangerous.

Don't we still have a need there? Why couldn't we take a guy like Alshon Jeffery in the first?

  10. One thing I think NE does better than almost any other team is trading, whether it is picks for picks in the future or non-core players for picks.

I really wish Ozzie would start copying that.

Ozzie is among the top 5 pick-traders in the league.
