thesteelhurtin Posted June 2, 2013 Author Posted June 2, 2013 BUSTYeah the Steelers running game just jumped up 8 spots in 4 weeks on its own. Dude is legit he needs to improve his pass blocking some but dude is a road grader. If they stay in one piece the Steelers are going to have a great line next year. Quote
cravnravn Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Keep telling yourself that, we heard the same story last year..How'd that turn out Quote
thesteelhurtin Posted June 2, 2013 Author Posted June 2, 2013 Keep telling yourself that, we heard the same story last year..How'd that turn outIt turned out that the Steelers used more line combos then any other team due to injury. You want to talk bust wasn't your first pick last year and olb named Upshaw? Hmmm now didn't yinz have to go out and get Elvis because Upshaw is a huge bust. Quote
cravnravn Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 How is Upshaw a bust? he contributed last year unlike your first 2 picks. Quote
thesteelhurtin Posted June 3, 2013 Author Posted June 3, 2013 How is Upshaw a bust? he contributed last year unlike your first 2 picks.First both our draft picks contributed second did the Steelers have to go pay a mercenary to come in and play for either Adams or DD? Hey at the rate he is going maybe he can play DE for yinz this year. Injuries happen Upshaw is just lazy Quote

Dude is legit he needs to improve his pass blocking some but dude is a road grader. If they stay in one piece the Steelers are going to have a great line next year. They couldn't have jumped 8 spots. They finished a puny 26th out of 32 teams in rushing. First both our draft picks contributed second did the Steelers have to go pay a mercenary to come in and play for either Adams or DD? Hey at the rate he is going maybe he can play DE for yinz this year. Injuries happen Upshaw is just lazy Saying both your draft picks contributed is stretching it. Yea....they contributed to an 8-8 season.Upshaw contributed. He was solid in the playoffs. And... the Steelers couldn't sign a mercenary, their own players or anybody because they were CAP Broke. And... the Steelers couldn't sign a mercenary, their own players or anybody because they were CAP Broke. The Steelers have over 5 million to spend after the rookies sign. Also they went from 30th to 22nd under Adams and then fell back after he went down so yes they jumped 8 spots with him in there and fell back with him out so there's your impact. So you can't have an impact unless your team does well huh I guess Barry Sanders never had an impact then. Quote
thesteelhurtin Posted June 3, 2013 Author Posted June 3, 2013 Also thanks for making my point that Adams had an impact they fell 4 spots in 4 weeks Quote
vmax Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 They sucked!4 spots means shit when you are ranked with the slappies of the NFL. Quote
vmax Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Let's be fair and get an outside opinion..... David DeCastro, right guard: The Steelers' first-round pick last year, DeCastro dislocated a kneecap during a preseason game, erasing most of his season. He returned in time to have a pair of miserable games against the Cowboys and Bengals late in the year, with Marcus Spears and (especially) Geno Atkins abusing him. DeCastro is an excellent prospect, and while he appears to be built for a drive-blocking system, he has the athleticism and fundamentals to move laterally and zone block. He is a reason for optimism, but he is no sure thing. Mike Adams, right tackle: Adams was stabbed this weekend while trying to stop the theft of his truck. The assailant did not cause critical injuries, and Adams was recovering at press time. He is expected to miss about six weeks of football activities, putting him on pace to be ready at or near the start of camp if all goes well.Adams looked lost at the start of training camp last year. He worked his way up the depth chart as much because of the injuries and ineffectiveness as others as his own improvement. Like DeCastro, he had a few "Help! I'm a rookie!" games late in the year before suffering an ankle injury. Adams, last year's second-round pick out of Ohio State, is a specimen: 6-foot-7 and change, long arms, a thick frame that looks perfectly proportioned at 325 pounds. He's a little sluggish off the line, however, and his fundamentals need work. Adams is exactly the kind of tackle zone-blocking teams avoid: The system is built for smaller, quicker, ornerier players. Assuming a smooth recovery from his attack, he will have to adjust.http://www.sportsonearth.com/article/49447398/ Quote
thesteelhurtin Posted June 4, 2013 Author Posted June 4, 2013 Let's be fair and get an outside opinion..... I'm not saying they don't need work DD was rushed back and probably should have sat the year but the fact he wouldn't let that happen says a lot. Good lord spears and Atkins have made many of players look bad but he progressed. I'm defending them being called busts because they clearly aren't. Every young player needs work but these guys have the work ethic to get better and not show up over weight. The oline as a whole has been working out together all off season. We will see if Adams can adjust to the zone scheme but I think he will. Quote
cravnravn Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Your points are moot Steel, Upshaw contributed to a team that won the Super Bowl. Quote
thesteelhurtin Posted June 4, 2013 Author Posted June 4, 2013 Your points are moot Steel, Upshaw contributed to a team that won the Super Bowl.If he isn't a bust then why bring in dumervil for 3 years? Obviously the ravens don't have much faith in him. Sorry but your first pick should be on the field at all times as an olb. Him showing up at the weight of a DE tells me all I need to know. I think the ravens found out last year he was lazy and needed a contingency plan. Quote
vmax Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Dumerville was brought in to replace Kruger. At least Upshaw was able to put on a uniform and play this year unlike Adams and DeCastro.. Quote
vmax Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Hey crav!Whatta you think....Guy Whimper has a strong sounding Steeler name and looks like he could be the answer to their O line woes... Steelers' lack of line depth is magnifiedA day after coach Mike Tomlin took the Pittsburgh Steelers to Dave and Busters to build some team unity, the Steelers will play the not-so-fun game of musical chairs along the offensive line. With right tackle Mike Adams expected to be out until training camp after being stabbed last weekend, the Steelers' lack of depth on the line is going to be magnified over the last two weeks of offseason workouts. Pittsburgh has two choices to replace Adams, and neither are great options. The Steelers could turn to Guy Whimper, a free agent from the Jacksonville Jaguars who was signed last month. Whimper has experience with 22 starts over six seasons, 15 of those in 2011. But it's not exactly good experience, especially from the quarterback's perspective. He led the NFL in sacks allowed in 2011 with 14, and gave up four sacks in six starts last season. If Pittsburgh doesn't want to go with Whimper, the other choice is Kelvin Beachum, a seventh-round pick from a year ago. Beachum is the best option at right tackle, a spot where he started the last five games for the Steelers last season. But moving Beachum to right tackle would hurt the interior of the line. Beachum has been working this offseason on becoming the top backup at guard and center after Willie Colon was released and Doug Legursky wasn't re-signed.Outside of Whimper and Beachum, the Steelers are extremely inexperienced on the offensive line. Only one other backup, John Malecki, has played in an NFL game, and he's only played in one. The rest of Pittsburgh's depth is made up of two practice squad players from a year ago (Justin Cheadle and Joe Long) and five undrafted rookies (Joe Madsen, Nik Embernate, Mike Golic, Mike Farrell and Chris Hubbard). And unlike last year, the Steelers can't call on their fallback option, Max Starks. He signed with the San Diego Chargers two weeks ago.http://espn.go.com/blog/afcnorth/post/_/id/70944/steelers-lack-of-line-depth-is-magnified Quote

cravnravn Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 He's a back up that's it. Also whoever wrote this has no clue what they are talking about beacham would be the starter but Adams will be ready Jamison Hemsley is very knowledgeable around the AFCN. Things arent so peachy in SW PA, lets face it, Adams wasnt that good last season, now he wont be ready til camp time? NFL is a 12 month job, Adams is taking 3 months off, you'll see how that effects his play. Quote

NFL is a 12 month job, Adams is taking 3 months off, you'll see how that effects his play.Hemsley is a raven lover plain and simple he frickin wrote for the local paper. Beachum was in Adams place at otas not whimper. Every single steeler fan that watch the games Adams started is excited about him. He needs to work on pass blocking but he is the RT not the LT. The stats don't lie with him in there the Steelers had three different rb rush for over 100 yards against good rush defenses one being Cincy after he went down zero over 100. You can say what you want but that is a direct and noticable impact. 6 weeks is not 3 months off. Upshaw took 3 months off Adams has been busting his ass all off season in the gym a few weeks off aren't going to hurt him to much. Everyday one of the olinemen would tweet about lifting with all the other linemen. This group has gelled and the rest of the league is about to find out. Every week Adams started the Steelers had a 100 yard rusher none before him none after that says it all. Quote
thesteelhurtin Posted June 5, 2013 Author Posted June 5, 2013 As Max said Doom replaces Kruger..Dont be so hung up on Upshaw at 285, it is 90 degrees outside, he'll drop 25 lbs like that.Yes he can drop the 25 pounds but the fact that this is 2 years in a row that he has showed up over weight tells me he has zero motivation and is lazy. He was your first pick you shouldn't need to go out and get a guy because he can't rush the qb. You could get a guy who can't rush the qb but takes up space in the later rounds. In a 3-4 defense the olbs main job is to get to the qb. I know the Steelers wouldn't keep an olb that couldn't do his job. Look at it this way yinz just paid a guy 35 million because Upshaw can't do his job. Take Jason worilds for example he has ten career sacks when replacing Woodley and zero from Harrison's side so what did the Steelers do they drafted a guy who can. If a rookie is a pass rush specialist then awesome but to go out and have to pay top money to a guy because your first pick can't do what he is supposed to is ridiculous. I believe Jones beats worilds out straight and is the FULL time starter. Quote
cravnravn Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 I wont give up on a guy thats a few lbs overweight Tony Saragussa & Sam Adams, always came to camp over weight, and by Sept 1 were in game day shape. Quote
