I think the O's will be Jones, Manny, and a bunch of new guys in 2016. The question is will the new guys be young prospects or a bunch of crap heap guys.

O's are maintaining July 1 is the decision deadline because that's the date he could get the surgery and still be ready for opening day 2015.

I saw give it one more run next year and if it doesn't work out blow the team up (only keeping young guys like Machado, Schoop, Gausman, Tillman, Britton and Bundy) and take the draft picks from Wieters and Davis.

The problem is you need to make a trade in a hurry. I think Davis is traded this yr if he gets hot again.

We have up until next year's trading deadline. No need to trade Cruz. Offer him a qualifying deal. He either comes back for one more season and we can trade him next trade deadline or we get a draft pick next year.

Unless they recently changed it for next year I don't think so. I know Boras wants it changed.

I don't think so at all, because you're going to be forced to pay for a player based on skills that he might not have anymore. Too risky; i'd rather see him walk.

Sure why not. It shows the fan base you tried when he walks away. Boas will never agree so you are fine.

I disagree because, in our circumstance, it ends up looking worse trying and failing to sign someone versus not trying at all. Too much recent history of tiptoeing into (and out of) a negotiation for it to help public perception any.

Who knows with perception. I don't expect Matt to be here in 2016. He was really raising his value this yr and now that is up in smoke. I figure the worst case happens. He plays lights out starting right around trade deadline next yr drives his value into outerspace and he simply walks away.
