Geronimo Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 "Scrap" Heap was an average TE that was injury prone and because we didn't draft another TE to replace this bum he played here for ten years. thats all i have to say about that. Quote
cravnravn Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 John Mackey 5286 total yards, 38 tds Todd Heap 5600 yards, 42 tds. Mackey had Unitas and Morral throwing to him, Heap had Boller and McNair Mackey in the HOF, and Ring o honor, Heap deserves the Ring of Honor Quote
papasmurfbell Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 No he wasn't. Heap is more than worthy of ROH. Just because he was stuck behind Gates and Gonzo doesn't make him a loser. Quote
Geronimo Posted May 19, 2014 Author Posted May 19, 2014 Mackey and "Scrap" Heap played in two totally different era's , that argument doesn't wash. so if your numbers are better than John Stallworth at WR then you should make the hall of fame? "Scrap" Heap was an average TE, to correct myself, he wasn't a bum but he was also far from ROH worthy. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 Average? He was a top 5 TE from yr to yr. He just happened to play in a conf with 2 of the best of all time. That is far from his fault. Quote
Geronimo Posted May 19, 2014 Author Posted May 19, 2014 he was serviceable, adequate, satisfactory, nothing special about this guy , other than when a whole stadium said his last name is sounded cool Quote
papasmurfbell Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 I love fans revisionist history of players. Yes I have seen his numbers. There was plenty of injury time in there that was more due to a bad QB and coach and less of him. He was a good soldier and did as he was told. He should have stood up for himslef. Quote
cravnravn Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 (edited) have you looked at his numbers? I posted his numbers, they were very good, and yes hEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAP is worthy of the ROH, Again, Heap had Kyle Boller as his primary QB, Edited May 20, 2014 by cravnravn Quote
Geronimo Posted May 20, 2014 Author Posted May 20, 2014 He was a good soldier and did as he was told. this statement applies to most NFL players, that doesn't make them ROH worthy. You guys are making Heap out to be something that he wasn't. the guy was a decent NFL TE , thats it. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 He was a top 5 TE. That is ROH worthy. It isn't HOF worthy but those are two different things. Quote
cravnravn Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Please enlighten us as to what brought you to the conclusion that Heap doesnt belong in the ROH..Numbers were posted but you choose to side step them and shoot them down with the "different era" shot. To this day Unitas is still the greatest QB of all, and yes he played in a different era. Quote
Geronimo Posted May 21, 2014 Author Posted May 21, 2014 Please enlighten us as to what brought you to the conclusion that Heap doesnt belong in the ROH..Numbers were posted but you choose to side step them and shoot them down with the "different era" shot. To this day Unitas is still the greatest QB of all, and yes he played in a different era.you're the one that posted the numbers of Heap and someone from a different era, to try and make Heap look like something more than he is. why didn't you post Heap numbers with someone most of us could at least say we have seen play? you're really reaching now Crave, so because Unitas is the best qb of all times and he played back in the day, that means that Heap can put up average numbers over a ten year career in the 2000's and because there similar to Mackey's, it legitimizes Heaps career. Bottomline "Scrap" Heap was average and the numbers you posted are the proof. Quote
cravnravn Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 If they're average numbers then why is it OK for Mackey to be in the ROH and HOF with lesser numbers, I dont buy the different era crap, many a QB have better numbers then Unitas, but hes still considered the greatest. Unfortunate for Heap that he was here during our franchises probably worst ever draft pick.If Heap was drafted 6 years later, he'd have numbers up there with Gonzo... Quote
Geronimo Posted May 21, 2014 Author Posted May 21, 2014 Unitas plays QB and it's easier to compare QB's in different era's because the position carries wins and losses with it, thats how come Unitas can still be considered the greatest of all time at qb. furthermore compare Mackeys numbers with TE's in his era and see how he stacks up , now do the same with Heap and tell me what you come up with. Quote
cravnravn Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 But you still havent acknowledged who was throwing the ball to Heap, makes a BIG difference, Quote
