The Tannehill contract has a a big rippling effect now because what do you pay QB's who actually win?

INDIANAPOLIS -- Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill's new $96 million contract has many wondering what Colts quarterback Andrew Luck, the premier player at that position from the 2012 draft class, will be paid once he gets his new contract.

The Dolphins quarterback is no better than the third-best quarterback in that 2012 class behind Luck and the Seattle Seahawks' Russell Wilson.

Outspoken Colts punter Pat McAfee tweeted his opinion on Tannehill's contract.

Well today's market showed that a 25-25 record gets you 96 million American dollars... Andrew's about to own a team I think #Tannehill #Luck

McAfee was being nice about Tannehill's record as a starting quarterback. Tannehill is actually 23-25 as a starter.

According to ESPN NFL Nation’s James Walker, Seahawks general manager John Schneider put Tannehill’s representation on notice that he didn’t much appreciate how things played out between the Dolphins and the quarterback.

Walker reports on Twitter that Tannehill’s agent, Pat Dye, indicated Schneider called him and said, “Congrats, you just cost me a lot of money.”

That’s probably a monumental understatement. With rumors out of Seattle indicating that Wilson and the Seahawks — already reportedly at an impasse— are “tens of millions apart” in contract terms, the $96 million deal given to Tannehill definitely makes any contract the Seahawks offer their franchise quarterback in that range — if not a notch above that — that much more of an insult than a reasonable deal.

After all, only Drew Brees ($20.0), Peyton Manning ($19.2), Aaron Rodgers ($18.7) and Tony Romo ($17.1) will be make more annually than Tannehill ($16 million). And let’s be honest, Wilson has a far greater pedigree and has accomplished substantially more than Tannehill.

Tannehill's not a bad QB. He's decent....but the team doesn't win with him. He's getting ridiculous money so I have to say this is proof that the NFL is a Quarterback Starved League.

Loved the piece from the Seahawks gm that was the hot topic on the radio down here. I feel they should harvest him play his option year out, this season was do or die with Tanny, now that he has the money who knows how he plays, he's already came out and stated be has to do better thks season, he's putting the pressure on his self.
