TBird Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 According to Peter Schrager of Fox Sports, Courtney Upshaw is visiting with the Jets. It would be good news for the Ravens if he ends up signing with them. It would return a 3rd-round compensatory pick. They lost that pick, which was a result of Kelechi Osemele signing with the Raiders, when they signed Eric Weddle. They’ll get it back because Upshaw will cancel out that signing. Quote
thundercleetz Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Comp picks are tradable next season as well Quote
TBird Posted March 18, 2016 Author Posted March 18, 2016 I guess Upshaw's claim to fame was his forced fumble in SB 47? Quote
TBird Posted March 18, 2016 Author Posted March 18, 2016 Here's a pic of it with a caption on him. http://bamahammer.com/2013/02/03/courtney-upshaw-causes-fumble-in-super-bowl-xlvii/ Quote
TBird Posted March 19, 2016 Author Posted March 19, 2016 He also gets his SB ring to go along with his National College Championship rings. A career most college football players would kill for. Quote
thundercleetz Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 Upshaw signed with the Falcons for one-year. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/15068590/courtney-upshaw-reaches-agreement-contract-atlanta-falcons Quote
OneManCypher Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 Upshaw did a lot of the dirty work that doesn't show up in the stat line, he may not have been a good edge rusher but he was damn good at setting the edge and being physical in the run game. he had a role and he did his job well. I liked his physicality, hopefully Zadarius can do what Upshaw did with better results as a pass rusher, But i'm not going to trash Upshaw, there have been others who have come through here to have the same role as Upshaw with similar results and when they left it was all love. The others were drafted or signed to be end tables. Upshaw was drafted to be the lamp on said end table. He never came to be the player he had the potential to be because he is lazy. It shows in his play. That is why he could only muster a one year deal after visiting two-three teams.... Quote
vmax Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 What I liked about Courtney is he did set the edge. Very important because teams would love to get a RB on our corners.Also...is team's couldn't bully him.The Ravens desperately need QB pressure and sacks from that side and Courtney couldn't do that. Step too slow in his initial burst. Quote
TBird Posted March 31, 2016 Author Posted March 31, 2016 LOL - Did your mom tell you to say that because he just couldn't cover and this: With just five sacks in four NFL seasons, Upshaw lacks the speed and athleticism to solve Atlanta's pass-rushing woes. Quinn will have to rely on Clayborn and Shelby on the interior and 2015 first-round pick Vic Beasley coming off the edge to disrupt quarterbacks.PREVIOUS ARTICLE Quote
