But Baltimore is stuck with Flacco. Cutting him in 2019 would've saved $10.5 million in cap space -- but also cost $16 million in dead money. Yeah it is a giant savings. Also in 2020 they clear tons of cap space with lots of contracts coming due. Why dump his dead money into the yr you can totally clean your cap up? Get it done earlier. Quote
oldno82 Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 According to SportTrac, if they release him post-June 1 in 2019, the dead cap is only $8 million. To find it, you have to have to hover the cursor over the $16 million figure. That means his last season would be 2018 if they went that route. http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/baltimore-ravens/cap/2019/ In any case I don't think they should wait until 2020. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted November 14, 2017 Author Posted November 14, 2017 I would do it in 2019 and take the whole cap hit that yr. They clear well over a dozen contracts in 2020 so why have Joe still taking a dump on the cap then? Just clean the cap once and for all and don't ever let it look the way it has for the last several yrs. Quote
oldno82 Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 They have managed to put the franchise in cap hell; that's for sure. Quote
varaven45 Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 Whether he's let go in 2018 or 2019, they need to posture themselves for a franchise QB - either this Springor in 2018 (absolute latest). After 6-7 straight years of mediocrity, everyone's going be to be chomping at bit for a new brand and winning program by 2020. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted November 15, 2017 Author Posted November 15, 2017 YEah stop winning games and stop winning them now. Quote
