varaven45 Posted March 22, 2019 Author Posted March 22, 2019 The QB draft cupboard is pretty bare. We are going to need to draft a diamond in the rough or pick up someone in the Summer/FA - which is now unlikely given RG III. Quote
oldno82 Posted March 22, 2019 Posted March 22, 2019 I think Tyree will go before round 5. I think round 3 or even 2 is more likely. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 https://heavy.com/sports/2019/03/tyree-jackson-nfl-draft-projections-mock-draft/ Ahead of the combine, The Draft Network’s Jon Ledyard listed the Buffalo quarterback as his No. 156 overall prospect and No. 7 quarterback prospect. This goes somewhat along with the ranking provided by ESPN’s Mel Kiper, who labeled Jackson as the No. 8 quarterback, behind Auburn’s Jarrett Stidham and NC State’s Ryan Finley. As far as when Jackson could potentially come off the board in the upcoming draft, those projections have varied some. Draft Tek’s most recent mock has him as the No. 111 pick (fourth round) and heading to the Detroit Lions. But in a mock revealed by DraftSite.com, he’s not receiving nearly as much love. They currently have Jackson pegged as a sixth-round pick and heading to the Carolina Panthers. This would make him the 10th quarterback to be selected, behind Mississippi’s Jordan Ta’amu, Stidham, Finley and also West Virginia’s Will Grier and Northwestern’s Clayton Thorson. Fth is about where he is projected. It has to be watched to see if his stock starts to soar. Quote
oldno82 Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 Good recap, Pops. I think we ought to try and get him come round 4-5. Fortunately, we have 2 3rd round picks. BUT, they may be looking at getting a QB in 6th or 7th round or even as a UDFA. That's kind of been our picking ground for 3rd string quarterbacks. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted March 24, 2019 Posted March 24, 2019 That was under Ozzie. It can't be a bad idea to hedge on Lamar while giving him time to show if he can get better. This would be a way to do that while getting a guy who has potential to be pretty good. He also would fit into the offense the Ravens are designing now. I would not get a pure pocket QB as a backup in this case. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9JL547ScXQAlso he is able to work from the pocket. And something else I noticed in that highlight package is he slides. Quote
