cravnravn Posted June 20, 2012 Author Posted June 20, 2012 McKinnie to 'shut everybody up'Ravens offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie doesn't feel the scrutiny that followed him being held out of mandatory minicamp practices is deserved. "I'm going to show up at the weight I'm supposed to be and handle my business and get everybody off my back," McKinnie told the Carroll County (Md.) Times. "I want to get this work done, come in at the right weight and shut everybody up. I'm only nine pounds away." McKinnie added, "I'm getting in shape. I'm lower now in my weight than any time last year. I think people got the wrong idea about why I wasn't out there last week." McKinnie said he currently weighs 354 pounds and wants to get down to 345 pounds. His focus has been cardiovascular workouts, not weight lifting. "It's the type of cardio you do to keep the wind going," McKinnie said. "It's not doing as much banging on the knees. My whole goal is to slim down. It's about working smart based on losing weight." http://espn.go.com/blog/afcnorth/post/_/id/50042/w... Quote
papasmurfbell Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 It isn't the 50's anymore. These guys are paid far more and are supposed to be in better shape. Quote

Baltimore RavensCombining the all-around talent of Haloti Ngata with excellent pass-rushers like Pernell McPhee and Arthur Jones gives Baltimore a front that most offenses are afraid of. Terrence Cody is someone to watch for a breakout year at nose tackle in the Ravens' versatile three- and four-man fronts. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1222249-nfl-2012-which-teams-have-the-most-talent-at-each-position#/articles/1222249-nfl-2012-which-teams-have-the-most-talent-at-each-position/page/7 8. Baltimore RavensThe loss of Terrell Suggs definitely changes things in Baltimore's hybrid defense, but the depth here is still amazing. Ray Lewis is a name that needs no introduction, and Paul Kruger on the outside played very well in 2011. If the team can get production from rookie Courtney Upshaw, replacing Suggs won't be as impossible as it might sound. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1222249-nfl-2012-which-teams-have-the-most-talent-at-each-position#/articles/1222249-nfl-2012-which-teams-have-the-most-talent-at-each-position/page/8 1. Baltimore RavensContingent upon Ed Reed being on the team, the Ravens have the NFL's best secondary. Lardarius Webb is the best cornerback no one is talking about. Jimmy Smith is well on his way to being a legit cornerback who can take on bigger receivers. Bernard Pollard is among the hardest hitting safeties in the game, and the depth at every position is loaded up three deep. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1222249-nfl-2012-which-teams-have-the-most-talent-at-each-position#/articles/1222249-nfl-2012-which-teams-have-the-most-talent-at-each-position/page/5 2. Baltimore RavensThis depends greatly on Bryant McKinnie being in shape this season, but if he's back in his 2011 form, the Ravens have a loaded group up front. Marshall Yanda and Michael Oher form one of the top right sides in the NFL, and Matt Birk at center is still one of the best in the league. The left guard spot has good competition and depth as Jah Reid and Kelechi Osemele fight for the top spot, and Bobbie Williams looks to back them both up as a swing guard. So the OL with all its question marks is #2 but the RB's can't make top ten. Can I have some of what he is smoking. Quote
reddog271 Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 They don't hit. They don't do anything but run through plays. It is basically as my coach in high school said "mental reps." It is getting used to the other guys on the line who are new. you are looking for something to complain about. He has 7 weeks of training camp and preseason that will accomplish that. I'm sure he's getting his Mental reps in. also.. its' the same offense, he started in all of last year. Quote
yagersports Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Hey yages, the old timers used to run around in large garbage bags cut out like a poncho.. My pop warner coach had us do that! I'm surprised he was able to get away with it. I must have played pop warner in 88 or so. Quote

And I'm sure people like Papa would be the first to stand up if a guy got injured for hitting in the Mini camps. I'm sure instead it would be, "Why would Harbaugh have these guys hitting so early?" papasmurfbell Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 In the CBA hitting is against the rules. So if Bryant were hurt in hitting in OTA's then the players would rat him out to the NFLPA and Harbs would lose OTA dates again like a couple of yrs ago. Just because the Ravens had a Pro Bowl fullback and Pro Bowl running back last year doesnâ€t mean they were on the same page the whole season. It took some time for Vonta Leach and Ray Rice to learn how to work together. And that â€trust factor†is something Leach wants to continue to build on in 2012 â€" once Rice arrives. View the full article So RR and Leach were not always on the same page last yr. OL has more moving parts and need more time to be ready. Quote
