cravnravn Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 65 catches 1057 yards 7 TD's and ESPN ranks him as the 10th best player in the AFCN..Who are they kidding Yet these numbers dont get a mention? 50 catches, 841 yards and 7 TD's He's made a hell of alot more impact plays then Green ever did. Quote
thundercleetz Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Torrey Smith is really awesome, but AJ Green is a beast and probably a better all around receiver. It's like comparing Mike Wallace and Larry Fitz. Wallace is very dangerous, but Fitz is the all around better receiver. I expect Green to absolutely blow up this year, but Torrey Smith is going to have some sick numbers as well. You cannot go wrong with either guy. IMO, Torrey will definitely be well into that top 10 list next year. Quote
cravnravn Posted July 20, 2012 Author Posted July 20, 2012 AJ Green hit a wall the last 1/4 of the season, or maybe teams finally had film on him & Dalton.. Where as Torrey and Joe got stronger.. Quote
yagersports Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Nail on the head Crav, and Torrey played through a hernia and still didn't hit a wall. AJ Green is good, but there's a whole lot more to prove before he's ranked that high in the North. I personally think Torrey Smith will be the best WR in the North this year. Quote
thundercleetz Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 I am pretty sure AJ Green was playing on a bum knee the last fourth of the season. Quote
cravnravn Posted July 20, 2012 Author Posted July 20, 2012 AJ's last 1/4 #'s 5, 6 ,2,2,5 catches..ZERO TD's I think teams figured them out, hence the back in into the playoffs. Quote
cravnravn Posted July 20, 2012 Author Posted July 20, 2012 Now compared to Torreys last 1/4 #'s of 5,6,2,5,1,3 catches and most importantly 3 TD's Torrey had 3 huge catches and a score vs New England, where as Green was held in check. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 He was hurt for a game or two. He hit the rookie wall. He had a rookie throwing him the ball. But early on he was killing it. They are projecting what to expect. Quote
yagersports Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 AJ Green reminds me of Michael Clayton, of the Bucs, not the Phins. Quote
thundercleetz Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 AJ Green reminds me of Michael Clayton, of the Bucs, not the Phins. Ouch... harsh!!! Quote
yagersports Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Ouch... harsh!!! I could be wrong, I just see some similarities. Both were well thought of as rooks and both lit it up their first year. Both however had trouble producing once they were figured out. Now if AJ was injured that's one thing, but his production dropped off considerably. We'll have to see if he avoids the one hit wonder issue alot of rookies go through. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 Clayton was a total loser. Green is a monster. Quote
cravnravn Posted July 21, 2012 Author Posted July 21, 2012 Hes a monster for 3/4 quarters of a season..Last time I checked, the NFL plays 4 quarters in a season..In which TD Smith absolutely blows Overrated AJ out of the water..AJ did as much as you and I in the last quarter of the season, and I'll tell you like I tell the Steeler fans, Injuries are never an excuse, If he was hurt, tell him to Tampon up and sit down. Quote
yagersports Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Exactly! AJ wasn't getting his Bombs on, and I don't think it was because he was hurt. Just my thoughts. Quote
