ravinmaniac52 Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 -- Chargers Friday Injury Update - Tomlinson OUT! --Fri Sep 18, 2009 --from FFMastermind.com CBS Sportsline reports San Diego Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson, C Nick Hardwick, and DE Travis Johnson are out for Sunday's game against the Ravens. ORG Louis Vasquez, NT Jamal Williams (elbow), and OLB Antwan Applewhite are questionable. OLT Marcus McNeill and P Mike Scifres are probable. RB Darren Sproles is set to start with RB Michael Bennett seeing action. NT Jamal Williams (elbow) didn't practice Friday after practicing on Thursday. Quote
colincac Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Honestly I think Tomlinson is a better matchup for our defense then the super quick Sproles, so I'm not excited about that. What I do love is Hardwick (and potentially their RG) being out, the pressure is going to be on Rivers. Quote
thundercleetz Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 I think Sproles presents more of a threat when he is in tandem with Tomlinson. Sproles as a featured back should not be much of a problem for our defense as we can focus on him exclusively. Remember, with Tomlinson out the Chargers are sure to limit Sproles in the return game as he is their feature back. What scares me about the Chargers is their passing game. Gates and Jackson present huge mismatches. It is not the run game where Sproles has potential to do damage, but it is on the dump-offs and screen passes underneath which could prove to be crucial. Nevertheless, I still think we match up well against the Chargers and have a great shot at winning this game. Quote
REEDPIXOFF Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Jamal Williams done for the season. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&hl=151731&id=587 Quote
vmax Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 This is the type of injury that can alter a team’s Super Bowl plans. I’m not saying the San Diego Chargers’ chances of winning their first Super Bowl are dead as a result of the team putting defensive tackle Jamal Williams, one of the most disruptive defensive tackles in the NFL, on the injured reserve with a triceps injury. But this is a devastating blow and it will change the way the Chargers play defense. They won’t be able to control the middle of the defense like they did with Williams. The loss of Williams will particularly hurt San Diego’s run defense. He was a premier run stuffer, who clogged the middle. http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/8182/williams-is-a-major-loss-for-san-diego Quote
