  1. From Fowler, Jeremy on Da Twitter Among prominent coaching names I'm hearing are firmly on #Ravens' radar for offensive coordinator: Former Colts head coach Frank Reich, Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy and former Bucs OC Byron Leftwich. In-house candidates Tee Martin and James Urban could get a look, too
  2. So, with an excellent supporting cast, a forward thinking play caller, the great Josh Allen could not or barely put up numbers = to Huntley against the same team. Granted, there was snow, a slippery field, but, he is supposedly used to those conditions. The great Buffalo defense could not stop the Bengals, being shoved around, blown back, no coverage, terrible tackling. Tell me why again, the Ravens should use up all of their cap on a MLB, qb, and top receiver? Lamar at the Ravens price, Smith at an acceptable price given what he does for this defense as the proverbial defensive qb. Then some complimentary receivers, Gabe Davis style to match a healthy (?) Bateman, Duv, Andrews. Sure up the line, teach them proper pass protection.
  3. He was overly critical, rightfully so, that place it horrible from reports. Still, there was a better way of going about it...
  4. Good thing Lamar and the Ravens are not playing in Buffalo today with that snowy, slippery field. He always has trouble getting his cleats right, slipping and sliding all game...
  5. I wonder is Lamar is now waiting to see what Burrow gets this off season now that he is eligible for an extension
  6. Yep, been saying it all season. Sure, they have one top receiver, but it has been Hurts and working on his passing, the receivers having routes that work to get them open.
  7. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/ravens-request-permission-to-interview-seahawks-qbs-coach-dave-canales-for-offensive-coordinator-per-report/ The Baltimore Ravens parted ways with offensive coordinator Greg Roman this week, and they are now in pursuit of a new lead man on offense. Per ESPN, the Ravens have requested permission to speak with Seattle Seahawks quarterbacks coach Dave Canales for their open offensive coordinator job. Canales has been with the Seahawks since 2010. He has worked as the wide receivers coach, quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator for Seattle. Previously, Canales served as USC's offensive administrative assistant for one year, where he worked as an assistant strength coach and some with the quarterbacks, per his profile on the Seahawks' official website. The Seahawks, of course, were one of the biggest surprises in the NFL this season, making the playoffs as the No. 7 seed even after parting ways with franchise quarterback Russell Wilson in the offseason. Canales' work with new quarterback Geno Smith was a big reason for Seattle's success in 2022, as the former backup signal-caller completed 69.8 percent of his passes for 4,282 yards, 30 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, earning a Pro Bowl bid for the first time in his career.
  8. So much for that... ESPN: Ed Reed won't coach Bethune-Cookman as negotiations fail. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/35496576/ed-reed-coach-bethune-cookman-negotiations-fail Ed Reed, a Super Bowl champion and nine-time Pro Bowl selection with the Baltimore Ravens, announced Saturday he will no longer be the head coach at Bethune-Cookman. Reed was tearful during a 15-minute goodbye in front of players and parents. "We've been around here trying to change things," Reed said. "My vision for change, probably moving too fast for a lot of people. I'm not withdrawing my name, as they said. They don't want me here. They do not want me here because I tell the truth." Reed also tweeted an announcement that detailed, "After weeks of negotiations I've been informed that the University won't be ratifying my contract and won't make good on the agreement we had in principle, which had provisions and resources best needed to support the student athletes. "I was committed to coaching and cultivating a relationship with the University, Players, Community and the Fans. It's extremely disappointing this won't be happening," Reed said.
  9. And another https://www.cleveland.com/browns/2023/01/ravens-request-interview-with-chad-oshea-browns-wr-coach-for-their-offensive-coordinator-vacancy.html CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Chad O’Shea could go from trying to beat the Ravens to trying to help them beat the Browns. O’Shea, the Browns wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator since 2020, has received a request from the Ravens to interview for their offensive coordinator vacancy, a league source told cleveland.com. He would replace Greg Roman, who parted ways with the team this week. The Browns and other NFL teams must grant permission for such promotions O’Shea, 50, interviewed Friday for the Jets coordinator vacancy, but the Ravens opening is likely more attractive because of the quarterback position. The Jets are in a state of flux at QB, whereas the Ravens are confident Lamar Jackson will be back despite the fact they haven’t yet signed him to the blockbuster extension
  10. That is what happens when you use him properly. McDonald used him in blitz packages, in run support, a lot in zone. In man coverage, however, he wad a liability. Essentially he was a linebacker
  11. And so it starts, a good start, just a request, but clear what path they are looking to take https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/01/20/ravens-chargers-request-interview-with-zac-robinson-for-oc/ According to Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, both the Ravens and the Chargers have requested to interview Rams pass game coordinator/QBs coach Zac Robinson for their respective offensive coordinator openings. Robinson has been with the Rams since 2019. He was initially the team’s assistant QBs coach before working with the receivers in 2020. He went back to being the assistant QBs coach in 2021 and was promoted to his current role in 2022. Robinson was a seventh-round pick by the Patriots in 2010 and also spent time with the Seahawks, Lions, and Bengals. But he did not ever appear in a regular-season game. The Ravens need a new offensive coordinator after Greg Roman stepped down earlier this week.
  12. Also to keep in mind, KC traded away one of the best wide outs in the game, one who is so quick & fast he is extremely difficult to cover. So clearly, having one of the best is not always needed
  13. Hopkins is a phenomenal talent, but he is always missing games for one reason or another. I know, he put up huge stats since coming back from his suspension, but that contract, plus Smith and say Lamar, wowza, 3 players taking up that much of the cap? To me he is not needed. All that is needed is a healthy group, proper route combinations, a line to hold up, a qb to make the right read. Joe proved that the Super Bowl season, shoot, Lamar proved that in 2019, even earlier this year, with the same group of receivers mind you. What they do will be dependent on who they chose for an OC, then one what happens with Lamar. If you look over the all 22 for each game you will see, often, receivers open, just not thrown to in a timely manner or not at all. So why do we need a Hopkins? For that price, a contract + the draft capital to aquire him. Get a speedster in the draft, use what what we have...
  14. I would love to see them reach into the college ranks, the game seems to be morphing into that style any way. I doubt a guy like Todd Monkton from UGA would make the move, two nation championship titles, a very good play caller with outstanding game feel, route combinations, knows how to adjust. Yes, I am a big UGA fan going back to the 70's.... But someone like that, who adjusts well not just to his players, but in game adjustments. Not everyone is good at, they have their game plans and stick to them.
  15. Well Harbs & Eric did say that they plan to revamp the wr room. Hopefully that doesn't mean putting in a juice bar. But given that this organization has always had issues at this position, I won't get my hopes up
  16. Yeah, I think this was more of a mutual agreement. Jk's comments, looking at the tailspin thr offense was in, maybe even the thought of starting over with a new qb had Roman saying time to move on. Who knows, with all of the open jobs now, maybe he really did want a fresh start.
  17. The problem Max is that Lamar is still a kid, so to speak. Those apparently cryptic tweets, that only he and his loyal friends know the meaning, he also knows stir the pot of the fans, media, hungry for some stew. So while I applaud his wanting to play games with the media, I also shudder, not knowing what he means by them. I've no doubt that the Ravens offered a fair deal, are trying to build a team around him. Now they have even parted ways, mutual possibly, with their oc who did provide for record setting stats at one point. I also know that this is one of the best orgs a player can be a part of, I've spoken to past players, current at the time who have all said as much, players we all respect. So his "mind games" if about the team, need to stop. He either wants to play here, or he doesnt.
  18. Stillers have already said that they are brining their oc back
  19. Ah, Arians was overseeing the offense, this was the first year with the proverbial training wheels off. They were deadly, as the media says, in play action, but rarely called for play action... we've seen that show, ive screamed till I have no voice left
  20. Yeah I believe them too, as far as wanting him here, I wonder if Roman walking will have Lamar reconsider his position on the guaranteed portion of the contract.
  21. Max, what else is Eric going to say? Risk alienating Lamar or make the draft capital smaller if you do plan on tag & trade. Eric played it correctly, praise him, say it is between he and the team, that you expect, not just want, but expect him to be the qb of this team. Yes, I do believe the numbers Jefd Z has leaked via the union, $250, $135 guaranteed. Bigger than everyone except Watson, who the Biscuit has said was way out of whack. Now will Lamar come down? Will the Ravens raise the $135 to $180?
  22. Please no, not here, he couldn't get anything going with Brady, Mike Evans & company, what makes anyone think he can help this offense?
  23. Ding dong Roman is gone, sing it high, sing it low, ding dong Greg Roman has gone away! He's gone where all dinosaurs go, way deep down, far and wide, ding dong Greg Roman has gone away!
  24. I was just about to say that you forgot about that one Max! Can't wait!
