  1. Found this, quite interesting, from Sept 2022 That’s because more than simply saving money, choosing to play this chess game alone requires a player being willing to carve out the extra time off the field. That’s a lesson Arizona Cardinals offensive tackle D.J. Humphries learned when he negotiated an extension this offseason that will pay him more than $30 million in guaranteed money over the next three years. He is on a list of 13 active players who didn’t use an agent in their current deals, but have employed one in the past. “Tough. I probably wouldn’t do it again," Humphries said. “It was something I wanted to do. When I’m done (playing football), I want to be a businessman, so being able to do one of the biggest deals on my own for the first time, that was huge for me.” Jackson said; “No, not at all," he said. “I’m a different player than any of the other players who represented themselves.”
  2. It's gonna be fun to watch, Burrow, Hurts, the etc...
  3. Kc & Mahomes is going to be a good ledger to watch, he is slated to count $46 mil (20%) against their cap this coming year, as they get into the meat years of his deal. He was $36 mil against their cap this past year. They let a top qr go because they could not afford him, now that everyone has a super bowl ring or two, the others are going to want to be paid now. Currently they have just $11 mil in cap space up coming...
  4. Man what a pickle this team is in right now. They were good qb play away from being, going further in the playoffs. Safran, Phili too boot. Pay Lamar, hoe many players are lost to free agency because of cap? Sure, they might be able to structure a deal in a way that gives them cap help in the first year or two, thus hang onto the players needed to keep this team in the playoffs. Maybe that is the hold up in the contract talks with Lamar, the structure? Or Tag & trade him, boost the depth, add weapons through the draft, easier said than done sometimes. Bring in Carr, Mayfield, Smith to give the team possibly good enough qb play to go along with the running game, the defense, bolstered by all of the draft picks. Those deals would have to be what, 1-5 pending, years, low at first, big signing bonus if five years. Still not the 45-50 mil tag hit Lamar would cost. Frankly, as we've talked about here, let Lamar walk, 3-5 years we are back here talking about the same thing if the qb turns out to be mvp worthy.... oy
  5. Georgia ran several types of zone read, Bennett wasn't fast, but he was very quick. So that part of the offense won't change much. Should be interesting to see if Monken can find us a receiver in the draft, finally.
  6. Carr can be had now with no draft picks, hmmm
  7. Eh 1) he was a rookie qb, they all throw picks. 2) it was Mayfield... The key is the types of plays, the routes, the route combinations. Did his qbs throw to the right guy? Make the right read? Were there open receivers? Im a huge GA, never miss a game. Even in their last two seasons, one undefeated, with a very mature qb, there were times when Bennet threw to the wrong man when he had a wide open receiver (drove Kirby & Todd nutz at times). This past season they lost their top two receivers to injury early in the season, but they still schemed ways to get the others open, wide open. Even using their top tight end, a first round pick, wide open based on formations and route combinations.
  8. I'm most intrigued by his use of route combinations, how he adjusts to what coverages a defense is using game by game, to get players open.
  9. The Ravens have hired Todd Monken to be their offensive coordinator, Head Coach John Harbaugh announced Tuesday. Monken is a 34-year coaching veteran who has spent the past three years as Georgia's offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach, helping guide the Bulldogs to back-to-back national championships. Monken, 57, also has eight years of NFL experience, including four years coordinating NFL offenses. He last led attacks for the Cleveland Browns (2019) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2016-18). "We conducted 21 interviews with 14 candidates throughout a thorough process that had wide-ranging organizational involvement," Harbaugh stated. "Todd's leadership and coaching acumen were evident from the beginning. He has a proven track record for designing and teaching offensive systems that allow players to succeed at the highest level. We're excited to get to work and begin building an offense that will help us compete for championships." Georgia's offense was humming the past two years with Monken calling the shots and former walk-on quarterback Stetson Bennett under center. Over that span, the offense ranked No. 5 in in the country in points per game (39.8) and No. 8 in scrimmage yards per game (472.0) https://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/todd-monken-hired-offensive-coordinator
  10. Monkton it is! Yippie!
  11. Wow what a game, heroic effort by Mahomes, tremendous effort by Hurts, that fumble Hurt... Hats off to the lines of the Chiefs, no sacks, 158 rushing yards for the offense. Their defensive line shut down, for the most part, the Iggles running game.
  12. Why yes, Lamar certainly is....
  13. True but many think he is only good because of Andy. He doesn't get free rein in KC to call plays. Much like Leftwich in Tampa, highly thought of but only good with training wheels. So by changing teams, becoming a true OC, teams will see him
  14. Yeah, could be packing his talents to take to the next team he plays for.... Who knows with his ig posts. He knows what he is doing is driving people, the media nuts with these shenanigans, bravo
  15. Yep, he would vault to the top of the head coach lists
  16. Monkton would be my first choice, he has little desire to be a head coach. Bieniemy would be my second choice, though he likely, if/when successful away from Reid, would then be a head coach candidate.
  17. Per Shefty, and makes some sense Would be nice
  18. Iggles run the ball well, Chiefs not so good against the run. Chiefs offensive line not that good, Iggles can pressure very well with 4. Yes, it appears the Iggles should win this running away, especially if Mahomes is not fully healthy. But, if Hurts still hurt, is the biggest question
  19. Well far better for us old time Raven marauders to follow rules
  20. Man that was so good, highly recommend it, as it is the one thing, 30 for 30, that ESPN does well any more.
  21. Will it be this week? Will it be next? Will the Ravens choose the best? Who will they choose, who will it be, to bring this offense into this century..
  22. The only one I don't understand is Outten, one year in the oc position for a team that way under performed offensively, that with a "hall of fame" qb... not much coaching experience beyond that, that would make him a viable choice.m Give me Monkton palease..
  23. They don't know what they have in Ridder.
  24. Or the cryptic posts, especially the one right after the loss. I agree with you, his immaturity has been on full display. As for traveling, it has been suggested that the team doesn't allow injured players to travel, but I've found no proof of this. Add in his proclaiming his injury is worse than reported before the game, yet we've seen him on the sidelines at home games jumping around, having fun with his teammates, one has to wonder. I also wonder if maybe he made the injury worse by jumping around, maybe that is why after 6 weeks it was not just healed, but made worse? So many questions, answers we, the fans will never get. His teammates know the truth, I guess that is all that matters in the end.
  25. Surprise, oops he did it again...
