  1. Dak, ouch at the last minute, season wise The Dallas Cowboys and Dak Prescott have agreed on a four-year, $240 million contract extension that will make the star quarterback the highest-paid player in NFL history and keep him in a Cowboys uniform through the 2028 season, sources told ESPN. The deal includes $231 million guaranteed, a source told ESPN, which is the most in league history. Deshaun Watson's fully guaranteed deal with the Cleveland Browns was worth $230 million. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/41176649/sources-dak-prescott-cowboys-agree-record-240m-deal
  2. Wiley made a great point, one we've talked about before; we as fans just do not know a lot of what goes into a play. No matter how well we may know the game, we can't know, as the story he told, what stunts were called on a play. Shoot, on offense, how often is the qb changing the play just from run to pass? What is the order of a progression for a qb on a certain play. There is so much we, as fans just cannot know no matter how much we might study the game. Yes, the all 22 is a great tool but there are sonny things it can never tell us.
  3. Love Marcelus Wiley, one of the few pod casts that I watch. MW on Lamar https://youtu.be/4_sgNcqAfr0?si=uLe3fOP8u9XtorO6
  4. Lamar said he was throwing to Bateman on a crossing route, DOUBLE COVERED, when he saw Flowers at the last second. The ball was intended to Bateman, who stopped after he made his break. Even if Bateman keeps going, no way that pass is completed. He admits that he sped up because Jones was being blocked by Hill and he was trying to help Hill out. That is he had waited a count longer, he would have fired it to Flowers. Interesting stuff. He also, because the tackle blocked down and both backers were in coverage, could have run to his right and made it easy into the endzone. It's all learning, for receivers, for Lamar, hopefully they learned to slow down. Last year they were great in the redzone, hopefully, and I expect so, it will continue this year.
  5. My question too, maybe they need to see if game experience for the big fella will work? As far as the defenese, there were growing pains with McDonald, hopefully that is all it is now...
  6. Yeah I think it will be, like the o line, a work in progress with Orr. The pieces are there, there were good stands made, short fields because of a turnover, a failed 4th down try. My biggest concern in the use of personnel at times. I think going forward we will see more of the rookie playing corner, especially when facing more speed at the wide receiver position. I'm not sure what was going on with all of the big plays down the middle, the backers not reading right, missed tackles, etc, something. All fixable
  7. Wow, 9 seconds, has Flowers wide open in the endzone, misses him, Flowers went one way, the ball the other. On the final drive, Bateman made a great catch, laying out along the sidelines to get them to the 12 or so. All in all, yeah they lost, could have won this game. But too many errors on the defense, blown coverages, bad coverage, missed tackles, not finishing the rush on Mahomes. Missed blocks at key times along the line or as I pointed out by Likely. Andrews fell down going for a 1st down, failed. Bad passes down field, missed opportunities. However, 1st game of the year, on the road, yeah, this team is very, very good, patience.
  8. Kc comes out of the half and marches right down the field for a touchdown, mostly on bad coverage in the secondary, the middle of the field. 20-10 hole Ravens answer by moving down field, end up with a 3rd and 12 from the Cheifs 45 yard line. Lamar scrambles a bit, though not under major pressure. He ignores Andrews in the flat with one man on him that could have gotten at least 8 yards. He sees Flowers with a step on his man and tosses it to him but it is badly under thrown. Lead him into the endzone, Flowers was at the 10, it's a touchdown.
  9. Mahomes doesn't get a clean pocket, and is picked by Smith on the ensuing series. The entire series to end the 1st half from the 9, Lamar appears to be rushed, doesn't see the field clearly and half tosses bad passes that fall incomplete. Leads to a field goal to end the 1st half down 13-10.
  10. Brand9n Stephens so far has gotten owned by Kelcey on that play and a few plays later by Worthy on a crossing route. But they buckle down and force a field goal. Ravens get the ball back, Henry rips a run off right tackle, Lamar steps back to pass on the next play and either it was a called qb draw or he for some reason decided to run, big gain. Later in the series, 3rd and 8, Lamar is forced to scramble, Worries gives up the pressure, incomplete pass Leads to the Tucker miss from 53, just outside the left up right. It appeared, though not easy to see, that the hold was a bit off.
  11. 3rd and 12 on the ensuing possession for Kc, they have Mahomes deep for a major sack and lose containment, he throws to Kelcy for a first down. Ouch, great players make plays. So far, these teams are even, even with the new line, the ridiculous refs and their officiating.
  12. 4th and 3, down 10-7, 2nd q, 9:44, they go for it at the 50. They run a wide receiver screen to Flowers? Sure, he only had 1 man to beat, the guy Likely passes up to seal off a linebacker who had no chance to make the play. Good play call, bad execution by Likely. If he just gets in the way of the dB, Flowers makes it easy. The series before Lamar is once again stripped sacked, results in a field goal. The defense to this point is playing well, even with the busts in coverage. Roqqun is very good, but not good enough to cover a wide receiver. Then of course the break that lead to the Worthy long passing touchdown, dB and safety let him go.
  13. Haven't watched the game, only the last play. Likely was out of bounds, nuff said. On that play however, Andrews was coming from left to right along the goal line, 1 man on him and Mark had 2, 3 steps, easy touchdown. Bateman was at the left back corner, he too had 1 man on him, had position and a step or two on him, easy touchdown. I know, Lamar was scrambling, but, he clearly is looking to Likely 1st and foremost, not a good thing. Likely is awesome, good bye Mark, but not when it is taking away from other players. Another strong start, then a fade in the middle requiring a comeback. The line was fine papa, 1st game together, on the road with one of the best teams in the league, 20 pts, could have, should have been more. Do they need work? Sure, so too does the Chief's line which gave up 2 sacks, few rushing yards. Same for Henry, 1st game, the defense was pretty good, from looking at the stats, but it too needs work. Tucker 2 for 3 on field goals is more alarming, it haven't seen his miss yet, but...
  14. 8:40 kick off, ill be 3 sheets to the wind by then
  15. Breaking news, Reid has 3 Super Bowl rings, way to break the news NBC
  16. Hey buddy, good fo see you, not sure, stopped watching the bubble gum local stuff a long time ago
  17. Ugh rain, rain and more rain. Time to watch the grass grow, it is just one game... 16 more to go, some of them have to have dry weather
  18. Well, Kelce is great against zone, so there is that. Also, when the pocket breaks down, he knows where to be for Mahomes, another big part of his receptions. I agree, even in zone, you can play match up zone against him, just follow him to the next zone. Shoot, man against him at the very least.
  19. Kr man how have you been? Yes, I am starting to think the same as you and papa, that it might be time for Harbs to retire. This team has fallen flat in big games, especially in the playoffs recently. Sure, he did a great job getting the Joe Flacco team to "over achieve" and win a Super Bowl. However, last year, uch like 2019, this team underachieving. He has the excuse of injuries in between, praise for finally getting rid of Roman, changing the offense, but his inability to keep this team focussed, penalties, lack of apparent accountability, as luch as possible in the league today, is inexcusable.
  20. Hey, we fans often lose sight that only 1 team has ever won all of their games. Yes, each team can point to more than a few games that they should have won if not for an error or two. We all have a bad day at work, some days we just do not have what it takes to get the job done, properly. I know, I know, they get paid a lot more money, so they should always be at their best. However, they, like us, have family issues that may keep us up all night. Get sick at the worst time. Sleep wrong and wake up sore. A missed block, a bad throw, a dropped pass, a bad read, a penalty at the worst time. It happens in every game, leads to loss. I've come to realize that the regular season is to prepare for the post season. Get better, find out and accentuate what works, stave off the weaknesses, what doesnt3 work. Yes, it is great to win the division, have the #1 sead, but what good does it do in the end? Teams will win games, and they will lose.
  21. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/ravens/2024/09/04/baltimore-ravens-kansas-city-chiefs-lamar-jackson/75055449007/ As the Kansas City Chiefs hoist their third Super Bowl banner in five years, the Baltimore Ravens will have a front-row seat to what could have been – not that every day didn't bring its own reminders of last year's AFC championship game loss, and that was before the NFL decided to kick off the 2024 season with a rematch. Which is why, before kickoff, the Ravens will be subjected to one final deep cut. Then they can finally go about beginning to settle the score from a 17-10 defeat at home. "Any game I play in, I feel like it’s a revenge game," quarterback and reigning MVP Lamar Jackson said. "So, I’m not going just going to look at this game like it’s a revenge game. Anybody we’ve played, no matter if we’ve beat them or lost to them in previous years, I just want to win."

  23. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/lamar-jackson-im-not-just-looking-at-thursday-night-as-a-revenge-game The last time Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson took part in a game, he walked off the field in Baltimore as the Chiefs celebrated another trip to the Super Bowl. That trip was their fourth in the last five years, so there’s no question who the top dog in the AFC is at the moment. Jackson and the Ravens are going to have to knock the Chiefs off if they want to make it to the quarterback’s first Super Bowl, but Jackson said on Sunday that he’s not putting extra weight on Thursday night’s opener in Kansas City. “Any game I play in, I feel like it’s a revenge game,” Jackson said, via the team’s website. “I’m not just going to look at this game like a revenge game. Anybody we play, no matter if we’ve beaten them or lost to them in previous years, I just want to win.” While the playoff loss to the Chiefs adds some extra narrative juice to Thursday’s game, it is still just the first of 17 regular season games that the Ravens will need to get through in order to have any chance of reversing the bitter end to last season. Jackson’s answer shows that perspective, although it’s difficult to imagine knocking off Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs in their building wouldn’t be a little sweeter than most regular season wins.
  24. I am not sure what to expect, yes, the Chiefs are the defending Super Bowl Champs, again. But they have been living large this off season, Taylor Swift style too boot. How focussed will they be? Over confident perhaps? The Ravens had them in several games, but let them off the hook or gave the games away, mistakes, unforced errors were mostly to blame. They go into the game fully healthy, with a better runningback, more depth in the secondary, but, with a new, young offensive line and unproven edge rushers. It may take more than a few games, maybe some loses to start the first half of the season for this line, the edge rushers, to really get going. Still, a win would not surprise me, a loss would not affect as much, given the above mentioned. Who ya got?
  25. Sure enough, like Shingles, he is back.... oy, noodle arm signed to the ps
