Sorry, I have to vent. This new media, these young folks now covering the NFL and the college game. Man, (can I use that term now adays) they act as if they know about the game, even use some of the common terminology correctly, but if you listen long enough, it is clear, they do not. They use phrases too often or in the improper context. Case in point 1) "high point the ball". This one really gets my goat , it is a phrase that coaches used to use for young players who do nothing but body catch, who will even wait on a pass to come down to catch it with their body. In essence, it is jumping up to catch it with their hands. Where it is over used, ney,(sic) improperly used. This new media uses it when trying to sound football intelligent, and praise a player for jumping up to catch a high pass while being covered, as if the player had any choice. If they tried to keep running and catch it with their body at chest level the pass would be over thrown. Don't describe a player as one who "high points the ball", just say that they are good at leaping and catching, have good leaping ability, have good hands even in traffic. Listen closely to most of these talking heads and you will find that they actually say nothing except what will get them hits & clicks, "hot takes". Gone are the days of real analysts, real reporting, the stories written for the papers and sports magazines is gone/ rant and yes, get off my lawn

Good to see you VA! Anyone who says they saw that dominance over the Lions coming is a liar or frankly, was just an old Homer who relies on memories of the old Lions. Yes, we could see this team putting things together, that it was either going to explode or implode. But no one truly knew what type of team the Lions were, I am sure they were just resting on their laurels and face planted into a scorpion.

The defense will be challenged, I loved Smith's response, "letting up too many yards at the end" He knows there will be better offensive lines and qbs coming their way. They got lucky a few times Goff was so concerned with the rush that he didn't see a wide open receiver for a big gain. It happened a few times, a more mobile qb, a better qb would have caught them.

It's all good, we share our thoughts even when they are the same as others. Lines take a little bit to jell and this one is starting at the right time.

It is finally healthy, back to the way it should be, one of the best in the NFL. We caught glimpses over the course of the season thus far, then, they dominated. Sure, it was a Lions team that may or may not be very good, perhaps an average team. But then, isn't that what you are suppose to do, dominate weaker opponents, not play down to them!? When Lamar has time, the receivers have time to get open, especially with these route combinations, and boom, first downs, big plays. Will this be every week? Of course not, look at the other top teams, KC, Buffalo, Miami, Philip, etc, they have down weeks. But this is another step for the line to see what happens when they work together, when they don't commit penalties, when they give Lamar time, a pocket, a way to escape. Yes, just as the defense needs the front 4 to speed up a quarterbacks timing, as they did with Goff, the Ravens offensive line is the key to this offense, and they have begun.

Yes papa, true, but they have. They did it in each game this year save 3. In Pit, they almost did it but for what ever reason, they literally dropped the ball. In the endzone, on key downs in the field. Against Indi, maybe they tried too hard, maybe they under estimated the Colts defense, the play calling was suspect, the plays run terribly.. But they have scored on their opening drive, mostly touchdowns, in almost every game. They have scored first in every game. They move the ball well in just about every game. Did you see the Chiefs, Chargers game or the Eagles, Dolphins game? Do teams routinely score on every read zone, touchdowns? Do they score on every drive in the first half and continue in the 2nd? Nope. But control. Now, the Lions are not as good as some think, not as bad as they looked yesterday. Some of those plays were just complete break downs in the defense, the one to Riccard, the one to Gus as examples. But what we saw, that will happen in every game, is Lamar had time, waited for windows to open and found them in stride. The line was phenomenal. Receivers caught the ball and, ran their routes properly, timely. They even stemmed on the comeback routes which made for easy catches and some yac. All things they did, again, in every game this year so far, save 3. Really two, again the Pit game was an outlier, the drops. Plays were there to be made.

The win means nothing if they do not stay focused, humble and capitalize on this win

146 rushing, 357 passing, not bad, not bad at all. 5 of 6 in the redzone, all five touchdowns. The one miss? A fumbled hand off between Lamar and he who trips over blades of grass

First half #'s 25 plays for them, 37 for us 97 total yard for them, 355 for us 4 first downs for them, 18 for us 10:16 top, 19:44 for us. An almost perfect first half, save for the fumbled handoff
-
2nd half will be trying, can't try too hard, just play, don't give them hope!
-
Of course they don't show us the questionable catch Goff under pressure by Madebeke, he throws it away, grounding 27 seconds, 4th down 15 From the 40 of Baltimore, 10 second run off, 19 seconds, that run off that was never applied last week. 21 seconds after readjustment Pass over the middle complete for 29, holding however brings it back 4th and 25 they have to punt 14 seconds downed at the 20. Great first half, the rush by the front four forced several penalties that helped stall that last drive by the Lions 28-0 at the half
