That is exactly what we needed right there. Time for the defense to go to work. There you go Ray, proving those critics wrong on your speed!

Just saw video on CBS on Flacco, he looked very ginger. Hopefully he is able to turn it on when the game starts and put it in the back of his head, that is what all the great QBs are able to do.

Once again, it all goes back to the QB: Palmer >> Henne. Chad Johnson and the Bengals receivers >>>>> the Phins receivers. As for last season's defense being better than this year's, it might be true but not as much as you would think. Last year we were #2 in the league, this year we were #3. In relative measure to last season, the higher ranked defenses this season allowed more yards than defenses last season. In a sense, most of the defenses in the NFL were worse this year than last year. We just have to face it, the NFL is becoming an offensive game with all the penalties that favor the offense.

We didn't fall for Miami's tricks last season, and Chad Henne is nowhere the QB Phillip Rivers is.

Flacco needs to get into the weight room and supplement that with eating a bunch. We need to get him up to 250 so he can absorb that punishment. Yeah, Big Ben is a fatass but that makes him better as he is harder to tackle.

You're absolutely right, Winter or Carey would be horrible for us.

I have noticed this as well and I think it is purely a mental thing as opposed to a mechanics thing (although the two could be connected, I guess). I really believe the Packers game shook Joe up. In the first half of the season Joe was money with all his throws on the run, he was just letting it rip. Since the Packers game he has been hesistant to throw the ball. Case in point is the Rice throw which could have easily been thrown two yards prior. Just like a hitter in baseball, Joe is going through a slump and he will break out of it eventually. Lets just hope it is against the Pats. And hopefully next year Ozzie can get Joe some help at WR.

What concerned me even more on that play was that Flacco couldn't hit a wide open Ray Rice. All he had to do was lob it. He could have thrown that ball a couple of yards prior to the LoS as well for the TD. Those are plays we are going to need this week.

We would eat Miami, NYJ, and Denver up.
-
Do not forget, last time we played the Pats Flacco had no trouble tearing up the Pats secondary.

Holliday signs with the Cards for 7-years $120 million. NO THANKS on that contract. Amazing, Boras got his contract AGAIN. I bet it was Boras who started the Orioles rumor.

A look at Brady's numbers without Welker: http://sports.espn.go.com/boston/news/story?id=4794467 On the flip side, Welker being out could be a bad thing for us. What do we prepare for? Brady himself said the offense will "evolve" a little bit with Welker out. In other words, instead of trying to just plug someone in, they are going to change some things to work best with the personel they will put on the field on Sunday. Belichick is a genious, he will put together a solid gameplan no matter who is on the field for the Pats. A guy like Julian Edelman scares me just because you don't know much of what he can do, and the Pats must have seen something in him to draft him to be their #3 receiver. The guy had 10 receptions for 103 yards last week filling in for Welker. I hope Harbaugh and Mattison are doing their homework...

I heard Gooden has trouble keeping on the neccessary weight needed to play linebacker. I think I remember reading in the Sun that he came into training camp at 245 pounds, but the coaching staff wanted him back at 230-235 because he would not have been able to maintain that heavier weight throughout the course of a season. Could he play safety? Who knows.

As stated already, it is still very early and many studs could turn to duds and vice-versa. But I do not see this schedule as anywhere near as brutal as this year's. For the out of division games, Buffalo, Miami, Tampa Bay, Denver, the NYJ, and Carolina do not scare me one bit. We usually do very well against teams without an elite QB. Add in the anual Cleveland sweep and that is seven wins. Atlanta and Houston are games we should win, although I could see Houston as a team that takes a major step forward next season. New Orleans, Pittsburgh, New England, and Cincy and the only very tough games. Compare that to this year with games against Pittsburgh, Cincy, Minny, New England, Indy, San Diego, and Green Bay and this year is definitely more brutal at this point in time. Assuming we split with Pittsburgh and Cincy, that gives us nine wins we should have. That leaves four games against New England, Houston, New Orleans, and Atlanta where if we win two of those we have a good chance of winning eleven games. Of course, we need to see how this offseason shakes out and how teams look in training camp.

I was just about to say that Crav, you beat me to it! I am glad to see we are on the same homer network!

I would feel pretty confident if I were a Pats fan too. I am not sure if we will win, but I am confident we will give them a run for their money. If we are within sticking distance in the fourth quarter, I'll take my chances.
