  1. I am not sure either of these mean anything, but I find them interesting. And I just like this one:
  2. Two me its not just the two party system, its the fact that the parties are so powerful and they end up shaping the candidates into their cookie cutter forms. I work for a small company that has tried and struggled to provide healthcare for its employees for years and finally had to give up and force us get our own coverage. If things go as planned with health care reform my company plans to offer coverage again next year. Other policies had my company's owner and the CEO hoping Obama would be re-elected. My wife works in the pharmaceutical field in a business owned by a family of doctors and they are not worried about health care reform in the least. They dont all necessarily view it as a great thing, but not a bad thing either. Just a different process. Her previous job at a senior care pharmacy supposedly had jobs created in part because of the health care reform. If CEOs or companies lay people off now "due to the election"- that is on them, not Obama. Especially since there was no clear cut specific plan from Romney. Who knows what would be better or worse under his non expressed plans, its just silly fear mongering that makes me sad when I see people buy into it. Hopefully most people are smart to see through the leaps of illogic.
  3. I am not going to argue with you because there is no way to find out. I think a lot of people like Paul's ideas and consistency and wish other candidates had some of the same, but I think very few people view him as a legitimate candidate or want him as one. I am certainly not going to waste time arguing whether a person who no one thought had a serious chance of winning his party's nomination would somehow win the presidency easily. Or at all.
  4. lol, I had forgotten about that.
  5. I like Ron Paul and think he has good ideas and think he is a good man. However I do not think there is any way he is was or is an electable president. I think he loses against anyone the Dems would run against him. I think that's partially why the Republican party doesn't take him seriously.
  6. I feel the same way, I think he is far from perfect but I think Obama is a good person and I just do not feel the same way about Mitt. I dont like Mitt's "business background" and I hate American royalty. Plus as silly as it is, laugh about terrifying a pet over and over and it shows me how suspect you are as a human. The system is flawed, each party is too important - more important than the candidates themselves.

    We're Screwed

I was lucky. I lost power for a few hours but not long enough to have to toss the food and it came back on before the basement flooded. I found a shingle in the yard and I think I see where it came from so its going to cost me a few bucks to have that fixed but overall I fared well.
  8. I think its harmless fun and I am not criticizing it. I just think it could be a 'famous' anything (2nd leg of the National Tractor Pull) and the crowd would still show up and the actual horse race doesn't matter to most people there.
  9. I feel good about the team at the same time I have my doubts. I still think we will win 5 out of the final 10 games (or more) and that will get us in the playoffs. Hopefully by that point we have a few things figured out on defense.
  10. I do not think there is room for a track down there, I could be wrong though. I also think that slots or no slots, gambling or no gambling - that horse racing is a dying industry. At least around here. How much of the Preakness is actually about horse racing and how much is about infield debauchery?

    Webb done

This is the kind of thing that happens when Cravn puts his jinx on us, its one of the proven jinxes in the world. This time it was an almost loss and Ray and Lardarius went down. Next time, and we know at this point he can not resist, it might be Ray Rice and Flacco. Just say no Carvn, just say no.

A lot of players have trouble walking away from the game, especially when teams still offer them money. Sometime lots of money. Walking away a huge change of life event that is hard for some players to get passed. I see no reason to assume a poor financial situation is a primary reason for Ray's desire to keep on playing.
  13. Cravn, cut it out. You almost cost them the game.
  14. Great season. I spent a lot of time 'with' them this season and enjoyed myself immensley.
  15. Is it 5pm yet?
  16. Whew. Grey hair, check. No fingernails, check. Win, check! Yeah they havent been great. Davis had a big game a couple nights ago. Hopefully one of them steps it up.
  17. The bright side is we are hanging tough with the Yankees. Think Markakis would help in this close series? I do, but who would sit? Just a bad time for dead bats.
  18. Some Orioles pitcher is probably going to have people mad at him but its the offenses fault. The Orioles had chances all night long but couldn't score.
  19. Bad time for Johnson to have a rough spot. Really though 2 runs in 12 innings is not getting it done.
  20. Another nail biter, another very entertaining game. Hopefully the bats wake up a bit more. I cannot find the numbers but I think they played well in New York this season. Didn't they?
  21. Well a terrible 9th for Johnson and the Yanks blow it open. We need to score more runs than 2 and need to make their starter work gharder. Need to win the next.
  22. McLouth!
  23. Fantastic! Now it feels like the playoffs, one game didn't to me. I am so impressed with this team.
  24. In a 5 game series I think so too. In a 1 game playoff....who knows.
  25. Well the whole season has been a surprise so its not like any of this was expected. So I am going to be happy, on the whole, no matter what happens Friday. I just do not like the one game play off. Baseball and baseball playoffs is all about a series to me, this just doesn't feel like the playoffs to me.
