  1. Have a Facebook page? I am trying to join the 21st century and signed up a while ago.
  2. I try. And Max, I agree about "Proud To Be An American", I hate that song. Appreciate the sentiment, but hate the song. And I really do like the current Raven's fight song a lot better. Cravn, I think generally some people are focused too much on the past, particularly here in regards to football, and do not appreciate what they have in the present. That's just my 2 cents.
  3. C'mon, we've all done that and sent the photos to various journalists....whats the big deal?
  4. The old song is an outdated relic from a moved team whose glory days were50 years ago, there is no reason to continue to pander to old fans. And really the most important thing is that the newer song is much better, but it will lose because of people with their heads stuck in the past, to a musty old song written for a team thats been in another city for almost 30 years.
  5. I dont mind getting a new song, but I think we should move away from the Indianapolis Colts song, not toward it.
  6. Funny! That would be a super secure password thought. Much better than my drowssap one I use.
  7. This is one of my favorites. Only because Matt Cooke is a cheap shot artist who usually takes his shot then hides behind his bigger teammates, but he likes this match up with the young Evander Kane. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLqpw_uKyds
  8. After protracted negotiations and plenty of rumors, the Orioles made it official Thursday, naming Buck Showalter the club's manager, two sources confirmed. He will replace Juan Samuel, the club's third base coach who compiled a 16-31 record after taking over for Dave Trembley on June 4. Showalter, 54, will lead his fourth team in what will be his 12th season as a big league manager. He becomes the Orioles' 10th manager since principal owner Peter Angelos took over in August 1993. read more
  9. I think its a good signing. If it works out he can have a lot of upside and if he is disruptive they can cut him with little penalty.
  10. Well honestly it really doesn't matter to me how we find out about the players unhappiness with his current contract, that's irrelevant to me. Like them or not holdouts and comments in the press are all part of the game now. Now if these were real contracts meant to be honored then I would be bothered by them, but they are not. With the rules in place I have no problem with a player 'spouting off' to the press or other irrelevant people. My entire issue is with fans bitching that a player should honor his contract when they don't do the same when teams do not. I think its unfair and hypocritical but I also know after a similar debate the last few years that I am pretty much alone in this opinion here so I guess I should have known better than to chime in again.
  11. With a name like LeCharles he should be suing his parents! I'll be here all week folks, try the veal.
  12. So, its often known when a player is not in the team's future plans even if under contract whether the team comes right out and says it or not. I don't think either side negotiates contracts in good faith but only the players get called out on it. Unfortunately a player gets attention by talking about his situation to the press.
  13. As long as you feel the same way the next time the team cuts a player with years left on their contract. People beat up on players for wanting a new contract or holding out yet they dont mutter a word when the team does the same things. If you expect players to honor their deal then you should expect the team to as well. If I disliked a player because of things he said when posturing for a new contract, I wouldn't like any of them at all. So therefore I dont hold any of it against any of them.
  14. I thought of that the other day when I read this thread. I agree, if I recall correctly Mora was the only current player to attend Elrod's funeral.
  15. Good luck! I'd love it but dont see it happening. Now there is something people should be mad at Angelos for, even though he was cheered at the time. His refusal to field replacement players helped keep the disparity in salaries and payrolls alive.
  16. I dont mind the lack of scoring, its the lack of overall scoring chances that ends up boring me. If there was a lot of action by the goals I'd be more interested even if the scores were the same. I think Spain had one shot in the first half yesterday and the Dutch had 3. I like the tournament structure and think they are great athletes (and actors!) but I just dont enjoy the game itself. Oh well everyone likes different things.
  17. I like the sounds of this. Odlly enough as bad as the Orioles have been, if my math is correct, if they play 500 the rest of the season they will finish 2 games better than they did last season.
  18. I am not saying that what Loewen has done isnt good or impressive. It is. I just dont think its a big loss losing a 26 year old AA player. He might make it and have some good years for someone, but I still wont kick myself over this loss.
  19. I was playing MLB The Show 2010 and I was in single A and the opposing team had a batter named Rocky Cherry. I checked to see if he was playing somewhere, perhaps not pitching, but he wasnt. I remember we wanted to keep Loewen but he was still set on pitching so he left. What are you going to do? I am glad he is doing well, but its no great loss. He is a 26 year old AA player after all.
  20. Me too. That was the last time I listened with any regularity. Haynie seemed like a nice guy and seemed knowledgeable, but he put me to sleep.
  21. I know you do. You said as much when you claimed his quote backed up that he turned down the job. You used the comments then as some kind of proof to your theory that no established manager would take this job. A job that it doesn't seem was ever offered to him and after an interview you stated you thought he took just to be polite. And as I said before I feel that is taking a huge leap in logic.
  22. That would be a lot closer than the huge jump to conclusion you made a few weeks ago. Its still turning down a job that doesnt seem that he was ever actually offered. Oh well, at least he was 'polite' enough to interview here.
