  1. Me thinks you are right.....Look what they did today after that debacle of a workout.... Ravens activate Rolando McClain It's unknown whether this is to allow McClain to participate in the team's offseason workout program, which begins Monday, or this is the first step toward the Ravens releasing the troubled inside linebacker. Ravens officials aren't providing any official comment on the move, which was reported on the NFL's transactions list.
  2. Wow, I didn't even know about that.....In eight years, Caldwell had a record of 26–63, as HC of Wake Forest U..... This guy has been silver spooned since college.....That reassures me what a phony he is....How does a bum like that get so many chances and guys like Billick don't even get a mention ?....Unbelievable !!
  3. Caldwell was handed the reigns to Dungy's team and rode his and Peyton's knowledge to the only success he ever had. Once Peyton was injured, what did he go 2-14, and fired.....He came here and was handed the reigns to Cams system at the end of the season and rode that to a SB.....Followed it up with his own 8-8 season....The guy is a fake, you watch in Detroit, he will ride a very good qb and the best wr in the game to some wins but if he lasts more than 2 yrs, I'll be astonished...... Nice guy, bad coach....Oh, and NO to the Junked Carr....
  4. They feel they can make it better by enhancing it with this new part, but they are not eliminating it. "National Football Scouting president Jeff Foster confirmed the test is not a replacement for, but rather a counterpart to, the much-criticized Wonderlic test." But thanks, I hadn't seen that though.....
  5. He would be more at home in SF or Oakland.....Know whatta mean Vern ??????
  6. We can question all we want to, it won't change what they feel is best for the league, but I have no problem with a different opinion than mine as long as it makes some sense.....Of course there are a lot of misses in the draft, and even worse decisions on vets that don't fit or are OTH, but this is the best they have come up with and I haven't heard of any other aptitude test being used besides the wonderlic..... It's like saying you don't need your gallbladder, that you can function without it, yes you can, but not as good as with it.... Good discussion.....
  7. Thank you for your minority opinion, that makes 2......But you haven't added anything to the discussion that hasn't already been said and is nothing more than a meaningless opinion to people that actually do the things that you and I can only speculate about..... If it had no merit to it as you and dc say, then don't you think that the best minds in pro football would recognize it and replace it with something better.....Come on, it's not rocket science....Mike Vick scored a padded 20, and you know his story, Plax scored a 15 and you know his story, VY a 6 then 11 and you know his story....I'm sure there are cases where it is the opposite but I would like to see a study done on the percentage of low scoring players as per high scoring ones....I am confident that it would show a pattern of failure for the low ones....But we aren't likely to see that....The league and owners are comfortable that it gives them what they need to evaluate players intelligence, and that is the only fact that matters here.....They write the checks, they make the rules, the players abide by them or they are gone.... And we get to speculate.....
  8. I'm a Cam Cameron fan and yes, he made our offense a contender from day one, and I was totally against making him the fall guy for a team problem......Yes we went on to win the SB, but it was with Cam's playbook, that's why Biscuit made sure he got a RING.... I knew Caldy was a fake and he still is.....The Lions made a big mistake hiring him but I am so thankful they did, and the difference between Kubes and him will be like the Empire state building to a dog house.....We will be back in the playoffs this yr and all the doubters will become MIA all of a sudden .....
  9. If there is anything illogical in this whole thread it is your self absorbed confidence that you are smarter than the proven system that billionaires and the best people they can hire have come up with..... And I don't want you to believe anything in particular, I have said over and over and over in this thread that the wonderlic is just 1 part of the process and that none of the steps by themselves can assure a viable player, how your twisted mind got wonderlic = SB is beyond the scope of sanity......Let me say this real S L O W for you, the wonderlic is about intelligence, not TALENT..... But here is a tidbit about it that you obviously don't know, these college athletes are first introduced to it in their 1st yr of college and by the time they get to the combine, they have been through it so many times that it is almost second nature, so with that in mind, how stupid do you think a player is that gets a 4 or 6 or anything less than the normal 20 ? Does that mean that some of the high scores are padded, of course, but they obviously were far smarter from the beginning. I've seen men as strong as a bull but didn't know how to fight and get beat up by a lesser but smarter man, so intelligence is a vital factor in any athlete's success......Just look at the latest Aldon Smith saga, all the talent in the world, great on the field, presents himself well, but off the field, he has the mental capability of a water bug.....He scored an 18 on the wonderlic........Give it up dude, you can twist and turn all you want to but you cannot discount any 1 step of the process that the most intelligent men in pro football have come up with for their business, and that intelligence test is part of it.....Plain Fact....
  10. For sure, and will more than likely get in a few fights on the field, let's just hope it's against our opponents and not our own..... He don't seem to know the difference sometimes, lol.
  11. All we need now is a RT and we're set on the Oline.....I have never been more impressed with the effort the FO has put forth than this off season..... Can't wait to see the draft, and get some young blood in here to become the next super star Raven....
  12. True to form, you take every comment to some bazaar extreme when anyone with any level of common sense knows what was really meant. And listen Sonny boy, criticism doesn't bother me in the least....I'm an old scrapper from the streets, and there ain't no reverse in this old dude. But let's take a look at your point of view, the wonderlic is a joke, no need to see how intelligent a player is to determine how he can learn and process information.......scouts are a joke, all they do is feed the media a bunch of PR nonsense......The brain is flawed and cannot store info without being hindered by too much......A qb that wins 2 SB's in half the time it took his brother to win one, is dumber than him because the other one is more complicated.....So to prove your point, whatever in the clouds of Sandy that might be, you want me to pick a draft, God only knows where you're going from there......I got an idea, why don't you go down to the Ravens FO tomorrow and show them your Einstein plan to eliminate all these unnecessary positions and how they will hit on every draft pick and see how that works out for you... Be sure to wear a helmet to deflect all the hits to he head you're gonna get while being thrown through the exit door.....
  13. Correct me if I'm wrong but are you guys actually questioning Kubes over any OC we've ever had with the only comparison being Cam, and after Caldwell the Terrible ?????? Man, I feel like we just brought Bill Walsh to town and scrubbed Joe the Plumber.... We are gonna be the best you've ever seen this offense under Kubes, you can "book it".....
  14. I would just like to see him on the sideline during one of those cold windy winter games in Buffalo or NE... It would be priceless to see if he goes airborne or not when his 3 ft comb over flies up on him....lol
  15. You are like talking to a 2am drunk, I explain to you 5 times or more and you continue to ask, what about this !!!!! As far as Eli being smarter than Peyton, absolutely yes....He has won with less trickery, smoke and mirrors than his brother Peyton has had to use to get half the Lombardi's he's got....And to that point ,Peyton said when he came into the nfl and I quote, "He is way smarter than me".... And if you actually think you are smarter than nfl scouts and their systems to evaluate players, then you are mentally unstable.... But keep trying, just don't hurt yourself trying to find a point....
  16. He has previous experience with the usfl and is a very successful business man, I don't see why not when you have the likes of Irsay, Jones, the late Al Davis etc....He would be fun to watch, lol.....
  17. Trump plans to make a run at buying the Bills This should be a hoot !!!!.....I can hear him each week when a play goes bad saying; "you're fired" to players, coaches, GM, and even trying the refs too....lol...sweeeeet !! Posted by Mike Florio on April 14, 2014, 8:58 PM EDTAP When Donald Trump first disclosed his interest in the Bills, he said he’d been approached about investing. Now, he says he wants to take over. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/04/14/trump-plans-to-make-a-run-at-buying-the-bills/
  18. I'm hoping for Tom Savage, more down the line of Joe with the big arm and pocket passer. http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/9418/player Tom Savage | Quarterback Team: College Player Age / DOB: (23) / 4/26/1990 Ht / Wt: 6'4' / 228 College: Pittsburgh Share: Latest News Recent NewsPittsburgh QB Tom Savage is scheduled to either visit or work out for 24 or 25 teams before the draft.Savage's stock is sizzling. His agent has had to tell two teams who wanted to set up a visit that his client literally has no days left available before the May 8 draft. At 6'4/228 with what "some are calling" the "best (arm) in the draft" per SI's Peter King, Savage now looks like a candidate to come off the board in the second round. King suggests the Texans at No. 33 overall as a potential fit. Apr 14 - 8:57 AM
  19. You haven't shown anything to discredit the wonderlic, just another minority opinion... The wonderlic is part of the combine, so let's take a look at the process.... 1. Scouts observe players thru their college play, can that alone determine if he can play in the NFL, NO..... 2. They observe them at the combine, can that alone suffice, NO. 3. They observe at Pro Day, can that alone, NO 4. Personal workouts, can that alone, NO. But when you put them all together, as any prudent professional would do, then you can make an intelligent decision..... You can spend your time looking for off the wall articles to support your opinion if you like, but I am very secure in my own opinion which is supported by actual team owners, scouts, GM's, HC's etc......I'm sure they are all jokes in your eyes, but they are millionaires, what are you ?
  20. In response to both of your posts....I have been very clear about the validation of the wonderlic as being just a part of the many ways to evaluate a player for the NFL....You just keep twisting it back to what you want the discussion to be about....I could provide studies that show the ones you posted as very questionable but I don't care in the least about that.....It has far less to do with this conversation as the wonderlic does in evaluating talent.....I am smart enough to know that the reason a football team has a staff is because 1 person can't do it all, or remember it all.....The issue here is not some brain study with more views than politics, it's about a process of determining if an athlete has the full package to play for your team and your system.....And as for your last twisting of my words, I was giving an example where it could be applied but you want to quickly discount that one. You might have a case of confirmation bias.... But Eli had a 39 not 29 and if you ask a NYer, I'm sure they would say yes he is better, since he beat Brady both times in the SB..... Enough of this, if you have something to actually prove the wonderlic to be a joke as you call it, show it.....If not then you can quit trying to change my mind because it ain't happening, as I am sure I'm not going to change yours.....
  21. And he never got a SB.....I'm not saying it dictates an absolute evaluation of a player but it does lend to the measure of how intelligent he is or isn't and that can drastically effect his play on the field....More for some positions than others.... Dan was a very good qb, and may not have tried very hard for the test, he was far from dumb, that's for sure, but no SB with all that talent makes you wonder.
  22. First off, you did discount scouting as a joke as you called it. Secondly, it is amazing that the opinions you post are from people who say too much info is a negative and that we are not equipped to handle it, etc, yet they flood the mind with useless and bias opinions that just contribute to junking it up......Listen, everyone has an opinion, that don't mean it is right, even on the internet. But we are talking about the process of making an intelligent business decision that could cost millions of dollars down the drain if a bad one is made.....Gathering all the info you can get to help you is just plain common sense, and these very successful owner's and far more intelligent men than you or me, also have computers and programs to store and help process all that info.....Flacco's wondelic was 27, Brady's 33....Now who do honestly think is the smarter qb of those 2 ???? I'm a homer, but not that big of one.....
  23. They are talking about pushing each other this yr......Knowing Steve's reputation, wonder how long it will take for him to punch someone in practice ? Maybe Webby.....In the world of a roughneck, when you come to a new neighborhood, someone won't like you there and will push to see what you got, it's protocol, so to speak..... I know a dangerous man when I see one and that little dude is a dangerous man, you can see it in his eyes, like a lion gettin' ready to kill his prey.... http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/Late-For-Work-414-Steve-Smith-Lardarius-Webb-Already-Start-A-Lil-Trash-Talk/241ece48-377a-4131-9d05-1f4b62fcd4a6 "He’s a big-time player,” Webb told reporters during a press conference prior to throwing out the Orioles’ ceremonial first pitch Friday. “I told Harbs, he plays like a Raven, physical, hate to lose, that toughness. He fits in our locker room. That's going to be big for our offense and defense. "With me going against him every day, with how he practices and the way he plays, his attitude about the game, is going to make me 100 percent better. I love the matchup. I can’t wait to meet him. It’s going to be big.”
  24. I showed you facts, all you keep doing is stating your opinion which for sure is in the minority that scouting is stupid and needless and unsuccessful....Where do you think the news media gets their info from anyway ? Where are these human brain research stats and failed scouting stats that you speak of at..... If too much info is bad for the brain than why is it a master at storing all it can get, and why do you think some people are smarter in specific areas than others ? It's because of all the info they learned about it....And Davis does count, he was a RB in college and took the test, maybe they felt he was too stupid to draft as a result of it.....But you can use Morris Claiborne who also scored a 4 and was drafted by Dallas and has been pretty much a bust.....And why would you think a test on common sense would be stupid metrics as you say ? Are you tippin the jug a little tonight ?
