  1. Driving home from work I heard Jamie Costello tell this story on MASN....It's fantastic!

My heart goes out to Matthew (who's having a rough week) and my respect level for Cam is through the roof.

Jamie wanted people to hear this because Cam would have stayed anonymous and nobody would have known about it. He said with all the Arenas and Tiger Woods stories ect... he wanted people to know there were good people in sports too.

Matthew...I'll be thinking and saying a few prayers for you.

  2. Here's a good article from James Walker on ESPN on one of the 2 big questions I have about the upcomming Ravens/Colts game.

At some point in these playoffs, Flacco won’t be able to hand off the ball and let others do the heavy lifting. There is a good chance that ends this week, as Flacco probably will be asked to match Manning with big scoring drives and key throws of his own.

    Can "Joe Cool" do it?

  3. Every Raven logs full practice Thursday

Every Raven was listed as full participation in Thursday's injury report. That includes offensive tackle Jared Gaither, who sat out Wednesday with an ankle injury.

Other Ravens who were listed with injuries were: linebacker Tavares Gooden (knee), tight end Todd Heap (back), wide receiver Derrick Mason (hand), safety Ed Reed (groin and foot) and cornerback Cary Williams (thigh).

Based on the participation, the Ravens should list nearly everyone as "probable" on Friday's injury report. Gaither could be classified as "questionable."

    Looks good to me.

Everybody is dinged up this time of year. This report tells me everybody is chomping at the bit wanting to play.

    They are fired up.

  4. Love these NFL videos...they really help the fan feel closer to their team.

That is one great inside look at Harbaugh. I love his spirit, his enthusiasm and vison of his team. Plus, now we know he gets just as excited and crazy as we do during the game.

This team faced a lot of adversity last year and this year yet look at what they have accomplished.

We really got lucky to get him to be the Ravens HC.

  5. It's not often a team comes out and tells it's defensive game plan but Mathis does it here...

If you have a good game plan, that's making a team do something they don't want to do," defensive end Robert Mathis said. "So that's what we've got to make them do. We've got to make Flacco beat us rather than McGahee and Rice."

Avoiding big gains on the ground would likely play into Indianapolis' favor, punching the team's ticket to the AFC championship game. Brackett said that is the defense's priority.

"Obviously, we'd like to stop the run and make them one-dimensional and go after the passer, but first and foremost, they're going to be running the ball," he said. "They've got a three-headed monster, so we definitely need to get after those guys."

    http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/bal-sp.colts14jan14,0,2212273.story

but then again...everybody knows this is the plan wether he said it or not.

  6. Grounding the Ravens

Grounding the Ravens For all the praise the Ravens running game For all the praise the Ravens running game receives, they've struggled against the Colts in their past five meetings -- all losses. No Ravens running back has scored a touchdown in the five losses and no one has gained more than 71 yards. Here's a breakdown (* playoff game):

Date.................Result Ravens (att/yds) Avg.. Top rusher

    Nov. 22, 2009; Colts 17-15.......... 31-98.. 3.2.. Ray Rice 20-71

    Oct. 12, 2008 Colts 31-3............ 19-51.. 2.7.. Rice 6-23

    Dec. 9, 2007 Colts 44-20............ 32-98.. 3.1.. Willis McGahee 17-45

    Jan. 13, 2007 *Colts 15-6........... 20-83.. 4.2 ..Jamal Lewis 13-53

I don't know why...maybe the speed of the Colt D is better.

  7. They're starting to poop their pants...

[quote]To start, there's a very ominous comparison to be made here, one that popped into my head just about the time the veil of invincibility fell on Coach Hoodie's embarrassing pom-pom ski hat:

TPFFFB are the 2005 Pittsburgh Steelers all over again.

» They have the same run-first, defense-heavy style of play.

    They are a sixth seed.

» They had to play all the way to the end to earn a playoff spot on the final day of the season.

» They feature a second-year quarterback, Joe Flacco, who managed the Ravens to the AFC title game one year ago. In 2005, Ben Roethlisberger was a second-year player who had taken the Steelers to the AFC Championship Game as a rookie.

    Feeling queasy yet?

Most important, though, TPFFFB is a very good team that is getting better. Their running game has improved since the Colts held them to 98 yards rushing Nov. 22. They have linebacker Terrell Suggs back in the lineup; he didn't play in the game against the Colts. They also have Suggs and Ed Reed together on the field, something they didn't have between Nov. 16 and the last game of the regular season.

  8. INDIANAPOLIS—At his weekly press conference Monday, Colts head coach Jim Caldwell announced that he will rest key starters during the divisional round of the AFC playoffs to keep his players fresh for a Super Bowl run. "You can't win the Super Bowl if you don't get there with all your players healthy," said Caldwell, who added that next Saturday quarterback Peyton Manning would probably get the first two series, which will mostly be comprised of running plays. "Dwight [Freeney] and Dallas [Clark] will get about a quarter in the AFC Championship game. But honestly, even if we make it to the Super Bowl, I can't see playing these guys the whole game. The 2010 season is closer than you think." Throughout the entire press conference Manning could be seen in full uniform, stalking and pacing in the back of the room.

  9. The most important thing for this game is:

Matt Stover will miss a game winning kick in the last seconds and then turn round and moon at Irsay with "Once a Raven, always a Raven" printed on his ass.

The next day Matt gets his own bronze statue outside M&T.

Exactly how Ozzie planned it! :)

Hey...if Stover does miss the game winner...I bet there will be questions.

  10. Watching the Jets is definately like seeing the "Baltimore Ravens North". Rex is doing the exact same thing there as is done here....same idenity, swagger...speed, physicality and smashmouth style.

It would be so great...so insane for both teams to meet in the AFC Championship. The odds of that happening are ridiculous...but what the hell...it would be so great to see all the blow hard media Colts/Chargers ass kissers suck it up.

And the League? They'd get back to work pronto to find more rules to help the passers and receivers.

  11. I'm going to go with what Harbs and Joe are saying...

What Joes done is hes done what he needs to do to win the football game. Hes very much healthy enough to play and to play well, Harbaugh said before adding a special request of the media. So, the more you guys want to make of the injury situation thats great. I mean, make it really dire. You know, hes really in bad shape.

    http://www.baltimoreravens.com/News/Articles/2010/01/Will_the_Ravens_Pass_More_vs_Indy.aspx

It was a testament to his will that Flacco was able to handle himself adeptly against the Patriots.

I felt pretty good, actually, Flacco said. When we got out there and adrenaline got going, obviously a little stiff. But I felt like what is asked of a quarterback, I was able to do everything.

And he was adamant that hes capable of launching it 30 times if called upon.

Oh, definitely, without a doubt, Flacco said. I could drop back perfectly. I had to scramble a couple times and was able to do it. So, definitely, I couldve done that.

The O line protected Joe in the last game vs the Colts...no sacks. They need to do that again.

The story of that game was the redzone...Colts scored 2 TD's... Ravens FG's

  12. Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco’s statistics were nearly as ugly as the purple bruise decorating his hip.

The Ravens managed to win handily anyway.

Despite a painful right hip contusion that’s also affecting his quadriceps and hobbling his mobility, Flacco gutted it out to help lead his team to a 33-14 AFC wild-card victory Sunday over the New England Patriots on Sunday at Gillette Stadium.

It’s my quadriceps,” he said. “I don’t know if it’s just the fluid running down and doing that to me or what, but as the week went on it started to feel a little bit better.

“I have to make sure that I take the next couple of days to give it a little rest and then get ready for Indianapolis. I feel like I’ll be feeling great and moving 100 percent when we get there next week.”

    http://www.carrollcountytimes.com/articles/2010/01/11/sports/3_ravens_notebook.txt

Bottom line: this affects Joe's mobility and ability to square his hips open on his throws.

  13. Soon...anytime now...the media will start telling us that the Ravens have lost 7 straight to the Colts and never won at Lucas Oil Stadium...that Peyton Manning will pick the Ravens apart and end their season...'nice run Ravens (pat on the back) but you don't have a shot"...

Before we let that bullshit infest our brains...turn it off...it's only part of the reality of what is happening in these 2009/10 playoffs.

We heard the same crap about the Pats and guess what? The Colts are almost the same team as the Pats.

They are last at running the ball. 24th at stopping the run...both factors worse than the Pats. This plays into the Ravens hands who run at will and close the door on the run.

The same game plan as Sunday's will beat the Colts Saturday night...with a little more help from Joe.

The Ravens can and will run on them and Joe will have opportunities to make 2-3 big plays during the game. He may even be healthier since he basicly had the day off Sunday.

I don't expect the Ravens to jump out 24-0...that is a rare occurance, but the Ravens lost a close 17-15 game to them this year and they have a very decent shot to get the win Sunday. This is not a dominant playoff field. Just as those were not the Pats of old, so too, these are not the Colts of old...except for Manning. They are a below average team without Manning...think Redskins...:D

The Colts lost their last 2 games and it will be 3 full weeks before the team takes the field with all their starters. The Bills spanked them. They can be had.

It will take the same kind of performance to win that the Ravens gave Sunday and they are very capable of duplicating that because they are hitting full stride right now.

Unlike the rested, but rusty, Colts.

"Oh shit! It's not the British..The Ravens are comming!"

  14. One more game ball:

All those Ravens fans that made your voice heard at Foxborough!!

    Amen cleetz...

That was after another interesting moment, this one coming prior to the game, when during the national anthem, Baltimore's trademark "O!" shout was audible.

Let's just say that the Patriots players took note of this, took note of all the empty seats and the trouble the team had sellling tickets this week, and most of all noticed the booing that started just minutes into the game. By game's end, there weren't many fans left to boo, and most of those that remained were wearing Raven colors anyway.

"It felt like we were playing an away game, that’s what it felt like," said sixth-year Patriot Vince Wilfork. "Even if we’d moved on from here, we probably would’ve played two away games, back-to-back. I’m telling you, for all this team’s done in the past … I don’t understand it.
