Assassin's Creed: Black Flag

Anyone playing this game? I got it on sale on Black Friday, which is the only reason why I have it. I'm really enjoying it. Apparently, you can invite your friends to be a part of your fleet.

I've honestly spent more time on the side missions. I've never done that before, usually waiting to do the side projects at the end. I don't even know where in the game I am in.

I heard it looks great on next gen consoles. I'm sticking with my 360 for now. My favorite part of the last game was naval combat, so I'm looking forward to this game.

Yeah. I'm sticking with 360 as well. I used to play Metal Gear Solid but it seemed like every new game was released with a new Playstation. I really wish they'd figure out a way (I'm sure they already could), get the newer games to play on the older systems. I can't justify buying a new system when AC is really the only franchise I play.

I have been playing nothing but DC Universe online for about 2 months. I think my wife is going to break my Ps3...and she bought it for me.

I love this game! I even made my girlfriend open it early (christmas gift for her), so I can start playing it as well. How much you get it for on black friday? I got Battlefield 4, and assassins Creed 5 for $25 a piece. For ps3 anyway.

Alright I got an Xbox 1 and black flag for Xmas. Awesome game so far. I haven't progressed too far in the story yet, just sailing around and exploring. I have to hold back taking on those those giant Spanish Man O War. Basically raiding the small ships to build up my hull/cannon. Did some exploring got some Mayan stones, found some chest. Side missions are fun...harpooning pretty fun.

Ha! I am just now up to seeing the Spanish Man O Wars. I see a bunch of English ones. I'm about 53% through with the game, and I've got a little over 40 hours of playtime in. I've been doing a bunch of side missions. I've only tried the deep sea treasure hunting once and the sharks got me. I'm not a good swimmer.

 

How's the Xbox One?

I will probably get an Xbox One soon. The One Guide TV integration looks amazing.

I didn't see a noticeable difference in Madden. Black Flag seems vast. The color is vibrant but its hard to tell without seeing its 360 counterpart. COD Ghost is noticeably better in graphics. I was really pissed with Madden, they recycled the audio. Really with a $60 game they use the same dozen lines from last year.

Anyone sign up for the Initiates stuff? What is it and is it worth doing?

Hadn't heard of it, but I just joined using my UPlay account. Looks cool though with different missions. It connects with your platform game to automatically keep track.

 

While I finished the game, I've gone back to complete all the side missions, etc. It's a real pain in the butt, but I hear there's some Abstergo stuff that happens that I haven't seen yet.

I just started Black Flag and they sent me an email about the Initiate stuff. I'll take a closer look

I downloaded the Black Flag app. I left like I was playing on steroids. It was nice though, that I could make money in the game while not being at home, though.

Did my first couple of diving sidemissions. The swimming mechanics are horrible. I know its a video game and I'm supposed to let reality take a backseat....but ..... fighting underwater sharks..REALLY?

Yeah, I don't really like that part. It seems like down is up, and up is stay still. Ugh. And technically, you don't fight the sharks, they just sort of destroy you and you have to find a hiding place in between their attacks.

 

Oh, and some of the smuggler's dens are in underwater caves. Fun.

I have had a couple of times when the shark attacks you head on you have to press a button combo to fight him off.

 

Just a couple other observations:

 

My spyglass shouldn't tell me what a ship is carrying. I should just raid random ships and get random goods from it.

Ship boarding has become kind of boring with only 3 animations and a couple of ship types .

I'd be nice if the money making system was different. Goods prices should change town-to-town like in real life. If Havana has a Rum shortage you should get a higher price there.

The guard's logic has always bugged me...... The guy you were talking to 10 seconds ago disappears....ok goes back to walking a linear path
