vmax Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Head Coach John Harbaugh said he thinks Smith is going to have a “breakout season.”“In my opinion, he’s a premier player in the National Football League,” Harbaugh said.“You have to pull the guy back. You have to grab him and say, ‘Hey, man. Take a blow!’ You have to do that because he’s like a horse – he’ll run himself until his heart explodes. He’ll do it. He’s just a great, great young man.” Quote
vmax Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Harbaugh debuted a new motivational t-shirt. The shirt represents the “One Accord” and “All In” mantras he said will be themes of this year’s camp.- Wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. had the most impressive plays of the day. He chased down a beautifully lofted pass over the middle from quarterback Tyrod Taylor, and made the over-the-shoulder touchdown catch past cornerback Chykie Brown. A little bit later, he caught a deep pass down the sidelines with cornerback Lardarius Webb in coverage.- Rookie linebacker C.J. Mosley showed off some impressive speed and instincts on several plays. On one of the plays, Mosley blitzed off the edge and flushed quarterback Keith Wenning out of the pocket for what would have been a sack.- Offensive Coordinator Gary Kubiak is very active on the practice field. At one point, he ran through a drill himself to show Wenning exactly what he wanted.- Torrey Smith made a nice snag over the middle of the field and then got a little shove in the back from cornerback Jimmy Smith. But there wasn’t any feistiness between the two of them this early, as they hugged it out after the play.- Defensive linebacker DeAngelo Tyson made a few standout plays. He ended up in the backfield on back-to-back plays, shrugging off blockers and forcing his way behind the line of scrimmage. That is a good sign with last year’s starter, Art Jones, leaving via free agency for Indianapolis.- The defensive front could be really good. Really, really good. The Ravens have so many players they can use up front with Haloti Ngata, Brandon Williams, Chris Canty, Tyson, Timmy Jernigan, Brent Urban and Kapron Lewis-Moore. They have a number of combinations up front, and that group could be a problem for offenses. http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/July-24-Training-Camp-Practice-Highlights-/160dc64d-400d-489d-8fdc-8a80cf2bd095 Quote

vmax Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Since Harbaugh was hired in 2008, the Ravens have more wins (71) than every team except the New England Patriots. They are tied for a league-best five playoff berths during that span, and their nine postseason victories are four more than anybody else's. - See more at: http://www.carrollcountytimes.com/sports/ravens/bs-sp-ravens-john-harbaugh-0722-20140721,0,3961979.story#sthash.TdNkflej.dpuf 1 Quote
vmax Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Here are some other highlights from practice:•Head Coach John Harbaugh was asked whether Ray Rice will appeal his suspension. “I do not, and if I did, I wouldn’t tell you,” he said.•Outside linebacker Elvis Dumervil visibly can’t wait to strap on the pads. He ran over tight end Owen Daniels with one pass rush and Daniels got up with his arms out wide as if to say, “What the heck?!”•While first-round pick C.J. Mosley is getting a lot of attention, don’t forget about second-round defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan. He has explosion off the line and knifed through a guard and center with a swim move to get at Tyrod Taylor. It would have been a sack in a game.•Back-to-back false starts by rookie tight end Crockett Gillmore and left guard Kelechi Osemele did not make Offensive Coordinator Gary Kubiak or quarterback Joe Flacco too happy. After the second one, Flacco yelled out, “C’mon guys!” It wasn’t the cussing Terrell Suggs mentioned a couple days ago, but it’s Flacco’s way of reprimanding players.•It was good to see running back Ray Rice playing around with fans on the sideline. Rice was joking with some children like he has in years past, taking pretend falls and tumbling down a hill.•The defense owned a fourth-down drill. There were five snaps in a fourth-and-3 situation, and the defense won four of them. The offense had a pair of drops from wide receiver Marlon Brown and wide receiver Mike Willie.•Brown atoned for the drop later on in practice when he dove to catch a long bomb down the sideline just short of the end zone.•Undrafted rookie wide receiver Jeremy Butler continues to make plays. He made a nice catch diving to the ground for a long first down.•Right tackle Jah Reid’s athleticism was on display during a screen. The pass went to Daniels, who isn’t as fast as he once was but still not slow. Reid went step-for-step with him down the field, paving the way for a long gain.•The wide receivers have a fun new drill in which three players will stand around one that’s about to catch a ball. As the pass comes in, the three other players swat around at it, simulating making a catch in traffic.•Quote of the day goes to Steve Smith Sr., who had another strong practice: “I wanna stretch by osmosis.”http://www.baltimoreravens.com/team/roster/cj-mosley/9b3357fe-21bd-4fc4-9553-f7ed102e3204/ Quote
