varaven45 Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 With 10 games left, we are 2 1/2 games behind LA Angels. LA closes its season with Texas at home, followed by challenging trips to Oakland and Seattle - two teams struggling to make the WC.Meanwhile, we have Bosox at home, then trips to NY and Toronto. In short, its unlikely but we could catch LA and capture #1 seed. As I understand, #1 seed plays the WC winner, while #2 plays #3 (likely Detroit or KC). If you had your druthers, would you rather see the Os capture #1 and play WC winner or get #2 and play Detroit or KC ? What's our more favorable path to the WS ?
dc. Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 If the wild card is Oakland... I want them. If it's Seattle, I'm torn between Seattle and the central champ. All are similar in pitching/hitting
cravnravn Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 I want the #1 seed. As many games as possible at the yards.
cravnravn Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 2 games behind LA and they start a series with Oakland, oh boy
varaven45 Posted September 22, 2014 Author Posted September 22, 2014 We need to win 5 out the last 7 and hope Angles get virtually swept by As and M's.
varaven45 Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 Well, judging from tonight's laid egg at NY, we aren't likely to catch LA. This team is unofficially in cruise control, well maybe sub cruise control. We might as well gird ourselves for Detroit or KC.
dc. Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Given that we're playing with a semi pro roster, I don't care.
varaven45 Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 Well sort of. We had all our starters except Pearce and managed only hit tonight. It's no big deal if it's one night. We just don't want to take our foot completely off the gas pedal and limp into the playoffs against what looks like the Tigers or Royals. I am sure Buck will have em ready.
cravnravn Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Detroit lost last night, Os clinched home field for the ALDS SERIIES!!!!
cravnravn Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 6 games left 2 in the loss column behind the A's
varaven45 Posted September 24, 2014 Author Posted September 24, 2014 We aren't catching the Angels. If I am Buck, I'm girding myself and the team for the Tigers and Price, Scherzer, Verlander and company. Go Os !!!!! .
cravnravn Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Im holding out hope bro, we spanked the Yanks this afternoon..
varaven45 Posted September 24, 2014 Author Posted September 24, 2014 Yeah but the As are in the fetal position today and look to be conceding the series. Bring on the Tigers !
cravnravn Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Oh Lord, walk off by Jeter I guess it's fitting.
varaven45 Posted September 26, 2014 Author Posted September 26, 2014 Yep. Jeter is a classy individual and we are blessed to have watched him for almost 20 years. We may not see another like him again. For the Os, rest up in Toronto this weekend and get ready for Price, Scherzer and Verlander and the Tigers next week.
dc. Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 I have never really cared about homefield "Throughout" in any thing... you have to actually win the early series to get there... Meanwhile, if you watched last night, my buddy was the "MASN" token O's fan in the crowd for the night. He was by himself on a business trip - so one orange shirt in a field of blue. They kept showing him when they wanted the "crowd shot" of local support. Funny to see.

cravnravn Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 KC is still only a game behind going into play today.A game behind who? We've already clinched hfa thru the ALDS
dc. Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 One back of the tigers. He's saying we may have to play the royals in the alds if they pass the tigers this weekend.
thundercleetz Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Tigers it is! This series worries me, but if we can get to the Tigers bullpen and keep the Tigers offense away from the big inning we have a good chance.
dc. Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 We've struggled against them recently, but that was also way back in the season. We're the better team now - or we were a month ago! Hope we can rekindle that. Interesting to note... the Thursday game will be at either 5:30 or 6:00... and the Friday game will be either Noon or 3:00. I'm not opposed in either case, but we never play that early! Adam Jones is the best day-game hitter in the league, though...
varaven45 Posted September 30, 2014 Author Posted September 30, 2014 Gotta get to their bullpen- early and often. We need many high scoring games. if we do, we have a shot.
Spen Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Well I guess I will be doing very little work Friday.
thundercleetz Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Who do you guys start at third? I'm leaning Kelly Johnson. I don't think we can risk bad defense at that position.
