varaven45 Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 If we are looking for an athletic guy, someone to shut down LeVeon Bel and other AFCN threats, and become a D leader we haven't head since drafting Ray and Reed, we get this guy in the April draft. Yes, we need to give up a pick and sacrifice a 2nd maybe, but we draft this guy. Quote
ravinmaniac52 Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 Most are saying top 5 pick, maybe top 3 Quote
varaven45 Posted January 9, 2017 Author Posted January 9, 2017 I believe it. That's why ya get him. With the way we've been drafting, you get the sure thing. I want this guy putting the kabash on Bell and Brown and the R Berger. Unless we get a playmaker on D, these guys are going to own our defense. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 So sell the future for 1 guy. They did that before and it was a disaster. Sit tight and draft around the middle. Quote
varaven45 Posted January 9, 2017 Author Posted January 9, 2017 Yep, that's what we'll probably do and I wouldnt expect anything different. But if the FO wants a potential game changer they'll move up and get one. He might even be there at 16 or 17. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 One game changer can't make up for 3-4 big time contributors. Quote
tsylvester Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 He is not a thumper, a tweener, Ed Reed potential though, he has everything else. I am not sure about trading up that far for him when his teammate, a stud corner in the makes of Jimmy Smith but with more brains and natural skill, should be there when the Ravens pick. Quote
ravinmaniac52 Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 Just me but I don't them making that type of move Quote
varaven45 Posted January 9, 2017 Author Posted January 9, 2017 Rmaniac; don't see it happening either which is why, among other reasons, we are steeped in mediocrity for years. A guy like Peppers, much like Reed, Charles Woodson and Troy P, only comes along so often and you grab him. Instead, we will make the "safe" pick and much to everyone's chagrin end up with a decent 1st rounder like we've had the past decade. It's frustrating as heck watching a team with 0 guys that play like a Raven. It's time to take a leap, grow some and draft a stud for the future. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 If they do a full rebuild they will put themselves into position to get these types of players. Quote
varaven45 Posted January 10, 2017 Author Posted January 10, 2017 Why put off what you can today instead of waiting for the rebuild. Who knows when that actually begins. In the meantime, you build with this best talent available now. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 That is what they did going forward with Harbs and all his current coordinators. They put off the firing for another yr. Quote
varaven45 Posted January 10, 2017 Author Posted January 10, 2017 So, as Andy Dufresne said in Shawshank, get busy living or get busy dying. And in the case of improving this team, it sounds like you favor the latter, right ? Quote
tsylvester Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Peppers tested positive, deluded sample, at combime.... Enters phase one of the NFL drug program.... Idiot.... Quote
