vmax Posted July 10, 2017 Posted July 10, 2017 You can't. A good question is; Is the Smashmouth Era gone?
papasmurfbell Posted July 11, 2017 Author Posted July 11, 2017 Look at Dallas and Oak. That is all they do.
tsylvester Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 You can't. A good question is; Is the Smashmouth Era gone? No, it is not gone. But the Ravens last five drafts or so have been for athletic linemen, not power blockers. Yanda & Osi were the only ones who were both, one they kept, the other is in Oakland....
vmax Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 Oakland's not even close. The emphasis on passing has changed most teams from smashmouth offenses.
papasmurfbell Posted July 11, 2017 Author Posted July 11, 2017 http://www.espn.com/nfl/statistics/team/_/stat/rushing#6 is rushing with that monster OL? Really?
tsylvester Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 Look at the attempts, only 434 attempts compared to almost 500 for some of those other teams. Oakland was truly balanced and had the power when they needed it; short yardage, goal line, late in games to run the clock out....
papasmurfbell Posted July 12, 2017 Author Posted July 12, 2017 4.4 YPC shows they were getting it done. It is not like it was a bombs away offense.
tsylvester Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 4.4 YPC shows they were getting it done. It is not like it was a bombs away offense.True test of power comes wben they know you are going to run the ball. Like to see the stats for short yardage, goal line annd late 4th quarter.
papasmurfbell Posted July 12, 2017 Author Posted July 12, 2017 I don't know where to find those stats.
