The Baltimore Ravens have restructured the contract of safety Tony Jefferson, who inked a 4-year deal worth up to $37M in 2017, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.

Baltimore converted $5M of Jefferson’s $6M salary into a signing bonus, creating $3.3M in available cap space for 2018.

Jefferson, 26, notched 79 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and an interception in his first season with Baltimore.

Now if Jefferson plays poorly again they will not be able to cut him.

Why would they need more cap space? It's not as if that is a ton, I wonder if they are planning to bring in some one like say the receiver who rejected them earlier because he only wants a one year deal?

 

Stupid move, I agree... Jefferson, so far has been a disappointing player ....

Is it possible the new DC will use him to his potential?

I think he is a system guy. Unless we change the system to fit what he can do he has no value.
