vmax Posted November 12, 2018 Posted November 12, 2018 (edited) This Ravens news topic should have a separate thread as it has basically come out of nowhere during this bye week. I'll call this "rumors" for now, as it was first published by an obscure site called "The Athletic." Yet it all could very well be true as Flacco was seen on crutches. Speculation began with the announcement that this was Ozzie's last season as GM. Next, Joe's future with the Ravens was seriously called into question with the drafting of Lamar Jackson. Finally it also lead to John Harbaughs future with the Ravens, as the team has missed the playoffs and under performed in the eyes of the fan base and probably those inside The Castle.Yet all that would have gone away if this team was in the thick of a playoff race and Joe was having a great season. But the Ravens have lost 3 straight and fallen back into the inconsistent and mediocre team we have been watching for perhaps....too long. This is very serious news. Certainly welcoming news for some fans, but Buyer Beware. It is rare to have a playoff caliber team, one that can get to, and win, a Super Bowl without a great tandem of GM, HC and QB.As fans we had that. It looks like that is fading away and the time to start over is at our door step. Edited November 12, 2018 by vmax Quote
GrubberRaven Posted November 12, 2018 Posted November 12, 2018 Max, I wouldn't call The Athletic 'obscure'...it's basically where a lot of local writers have gone to get paid. Pisses me off, because a lot of guys I used to read for free are now only available via subscription. Quote

Good to know that.Since some of these writers are local, then there should be more truth than speculation. Quote
oldno82 Posted November 12, 2018 Posted November 12, 2018 When you come right down to it, is making it into the playoffs with a mediocre record going to be worth anything? They very very likely would be one and done and all the same problems would still be there. I think now is the time to focus on rebuilding with a new qb and coach and with a new GM taking over. The Super Bowl should be the target not just making the playoffs by the skin of your teeth. Quote
