vmax Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 OK. It's a start. He's not OJB....I get it....but now they have 3 receivers who have caught an NFL pass. You have to start somewhere.... The Ravens and free-agent wide receiver Seth Roberts have agreed in principle to a one-year deal, the team announced Friday. Terms of the contract were not announced. The 28-year-old has 1,826 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns in his career. He’s also drawn praise for his blocking, a useful skill in the Ravens’ run-heavy offense. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Roberts was undrafted out of West Alabama in 2014 and spent his rookie year on the Raiders' practice squad. In an Instagram post Thursday, Raiders quarterback Derek Carr thanked Roberts for his contributions during their years together in Oakland.“I appreciate everything you did for our team,” he wrote. “From game winning touchdown after game winning touchdown. Your relentless work ethic that took you from an Undrafted rookie to someone who made a team, earned a starting spot, and always showed up when I needed you. From catching passes during the defensives [sic] set of plays every single day, to you even trying to run me over on a reverse haha! Thank you...........https://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/bs-sp-ravens-seth-roberts-sign-20190405-story.html Quote
oldno82 Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 I don’t know about this move. Smacks of another one year and gone guy. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 Prob is just a yr. Depends on what they spent. Quote
oldno82 Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 His stats haven't been very impressive as far as I can see but his highlights indicate a tough guy on YAC. As long as he catches the ball and can block I'll be OK with it. I just wonder why we're still doing one year rentals. Quote
vmax Posted April 7, 2019 Author Posted April 7, 2019 His stats haven't been very impressive as far as I can see but his highlights indicate a tough guy on YAC. It's because they are limited and stuck. All they have now to fill this position is the FA scrap heap and the draft....and the long shot hope of Lasley and Scott. How many receivers can they draft that will have an impact this year? It's another "long shot, one maybe, if we get very lucky."So you go with this as best you can. They know Lamar will need time to mature as a passer. Get him some players who he can find, dump the ball off to and get YAC yards.\He's in great shape with his TE's. He can see and find them anywhere and they will catch the ball and make the play. He's established that last season.Ingram could be another one.Snead bailed him out many times last season so Lamar's established that. At the WR position Eric's going to get a guy with great hands who catches the ball. That's all they need. They haven't had that since Boldin. Quote
oldno82 Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 OK, Max...sounds like they did as much as they can. You're right about not being able to draft a whole WR corps in one year. I still wonder, though: why only a one year contract? Quote
