oldno82 Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 The only thing I have to say about this one is, 'Where is all this cap money coming from?'. I know next to nothing about this guy. https://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/bs-sp-ravens-brockers-signing-20200316-vem4ki6dgvg23knsf4egq4dyka-story.html Quote
vmax Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 Quote When the Ravens struggled in September and collapsed in January, they could blame a poor run defense. In less than a day and a half, they’ve remade a unit in shambles into a brick wall. After agreeing Sunday afternoon in principle to a trade for Jacksonville Jaguars Pro Bowl defensive end and run-stopping extraordinaire Calais Campbell, the Ravens on Monday night reportedly agreed to a contract with Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Michael Brockers. The three-year deal for one of the NFL’s top interior defenders is worth $30 million, according to ESPN, including a guaranteed $21 million. Quote
tsylvester Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 I dunno about a brick wall, an aging vet and an over achieving rotational guy; the defensive line is getting expensive.... Quote
vmax Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 Quote When it was first learned that the Ravens traded for and agreed to a new two-year contract with Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Calais Campbell on Sunday, the first person to come to mind was Sam Adams. The Ravens signed Adams, a standout defensive end/tackle with the Seattle Seahawks, to a a four-year, $20 million deal in April 2000. Nine months later, they won Super Bowl XXXV in Tampa, Florida, as Adams finished the season with 27 tackles, two sacks, six batted passes and seven tackles for loss and earned his first Pro Bowl and All-Pro selections. That isn’t to say that Campbell will lead the Ravens to a third Super Bowl title, but he can have as much of an impact. Combined with Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Michael Brockers, who the Ravens agreed to sign to a three-year, $30 million deal Monday night, and nose tackle Brandon Williams, the Ravens have one of the best defensive lines in the NFL......https://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/analysis/preston/bs-sp-ravens-preston-campbell-pass-rush-20200317-5w6sipbsgfhajok7plh6i62gry-story.html Quote
tsylvester Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 Pierce & Brockers are equal, keep the home grown talent, unless he wanted more than Brockers. Campbell has had 2 very good years, the rest were average at best, nothing worth the money he is getting unless his best two seasons were his recent years and his recent years were when he was 25 and 25 is the present. But he is 10 years older; it remains to be seen. Quote
vmax Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 All I get from this is that teams won't be able to run or throw on the Ravens. Defense, defense, defense. With it you can go into any stadium with a chance to win. The game is won in the trenches. The team with the most points wins the game. The team that surrenders the fewest points wins the game. It's that simple and the Ravens are looking to be that team on a consistent basis. Quote
tsylvester Posted March 19, 2020 Posted March 19, 2020 Pierce just signed for slightly less... I know, he had weight issues, but home grown and young.. I wish him the best Quote
