One series the offense and defesne are the best in the league, the next, the worst. But they are not alone. If you watch other teams, they are much the same, the NFL as a whole is playing terrible football. The relaxed practices, the shortened preseason, if this is the new NFL, no thanks, I'll stop watching it, college offers the same if not better play and, I can freely choose between 15 games each weekend throughout the day. This is terrible, how do you not only need to call a timeout on 3rd down, but then call one with the game on the line and a minute less left in the game? The Browns should never have gotten the ball, never. So it is not just the players who are playing terrible, but the coaches are just as bad. 1 Quote
tsylvester Posted October 24, 2022 Author Posted October 24, 2022 Five teams scored 23 pts today, so far, 3 of them won... The great Roger's only out up 21 pts, lost to the Commandos.. The great Brady managed 3 pts against the Panthers, despite 290 passing yards... The great young talented Hebert threw for 293 yards but only put up 23 pts against the sad SeHawks and lost... Bad football 1 Quote
papasmurfbell Posted October 24, 2022 Posted October 24, 2022 The chargers have a lousy coach. Brady and Rodgers are on bad teams. Quote
oldno82 Posted October 24, 2022 Posted October 24, 2022 The quality of play is leaving a lot to be desired. Is it just me or do most players seem both less able and less motivated?? 1 Quote
tsylvester Posted October 24, 2022 Author Posted October 24, 2022 Wow, just saw this on ESPN, I knew it wad bad but; the Ravens have been outscored in the 4th quarter, ready, 71 to 25. Just in the 4th quarter through 7 games. Yes a lot of that is on the defense, something happens to then; Â out schemed, not likely but some, the players are there to make the play but fail. Conditioning, oldno mentioned this earlier, very likely. I've seen players fall down rushing the passer over and over, a clear sign they are tired, even with all of the substitutions they do. We also see players in the secondary unable to keep up with receivers they had previously shut down for 3 quarters, a clear sign they are tires. We see more scheme break downs, a clear sign of mental fatigue. A loss of strength, unable to dominate at the Los, get pressure on the qb, more missed tackles, a clear sign of being tired. 7 games in they should have their game wind, keep their strength, know their assignments, be able to keep their speed, yet they don't. Can this be fixed? Sure, it might be fixed by season's end. Hopefully any way. Quote
oldno82 Posted October 24, 2022 Posted October 24, 2022 Maybe the coaches wake up and begin to stress conditioning. Crap, ditch the game planning and run around the field every day for a couple of hours taking a break here and there. Geez this team is so hard to watch in the 4th quarter! Quote
papasmurfbell Posted October 24, 2022 Posted October 24, 2022 And this is the franchise with the hardest conditioning test. Quote
oldno82 Posted October 25, 2022 Posted October 25, 2022 Conditioning only holds up if you keep at it. I would really like to see a breakout of weekly time spent on aerobics vs strength building and other practice activities. Â Quote
