papasmurfbell Posted October 20 Author Posted October 20 I started election judge training at 1 and didn’t get to a tv until late 3rd q. Quote
tsylvester Posted October 21 Posted October 21 Brave man papa, that is a thankless job so let me say thank you (I vote by mail) Quote
papasmurfbell Posted October 21 Author Posted October 21 I’ve done it before. It’s not bad. Just a long day. This is the first I’ve done early voting. I have to be there 4 days in a row. but thx Quote
tsylvester Posted October 21 Posted October 21 That scamper by Mahomes along the sidelines is why qbs who runs near the sidelines will get blasted even if they are heading out of bounds. Good move by him to help his team, bad move for all qbs Quote
papasmurfbell Posted October 21 Author Posted October 21 Exactly. I said the same thing when Lamar was heading out of bounds several weeks ago. If you don’t want to get hit step out faster. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted October 22 Author Posted October 22 Would you rather have Lamar and his contract or baker and his? I go baker. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted October 22 Author Posted October 22 That was to easy. Lock down that run game. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted October 22 Author Posted October 22 I think we are seeing how a real d deals with our offense. Quote
tsylvester Posted October 22 Posted October 22 I went to bed after the 1st quarter, Tampa looked much faster, more prepared. Shoot, even Mike Evans on a bad hammy scored. But it was his only catch. The line could not block a blade of grass... Then I awake to this? The line did it's job once again, the D clamped down, for a quarter at least. Lamar, 17 of 22! 5 touchdowns! Henry with 160+ yards rushing! 2 Picks from Humph, 1 in the endzone! Hope he is okay. With Tampa trying to take away Flowers, Bateman stood up! A win, against a really good team, make no bones about that. But, this defense is still a mess, broken coverages still haunt them. They gave up 21 pts in the 4th quarter, could not get off the field on 3rd down. Tampa dominated the time of possession, even with the Ravens ruahing for over 200 yards. Something has to change on defense, you can't win in the playoffs like this, with this defense. Quote
tsylvester Posted October 22 Posted October 22 I'm sure the league is not happy about a flag fest, watching the game now, 3 straight plays of penalties, 2 holdings, 1 offensive pass interference, 8 total for the game. 9 for Tampa, so at least they were consistent. Tucker with another convincing 52 yard field goal. 3rd and 26, 2nd and 17, 3rd and goal from the 40, yes, they overcame them. But between the defense and the penalties, let's get this cleaned up, this offense is too incredible to waste. Best offense for the Ravens, ever. Even better than the 2019, better than the Vinnie/Byner/Jackson/Alexander Quote
tsylvester Posted October 22 Posted October 22 2 punts, 6 straight scoring drives. All the while the defense kept the Bucs from scoring 6 straight times, twice with a turnover. I'll give the defense a little credit, 7 of the 31 were not on them, that fumble by Flowers on the bad pass that was returned and no one could tackle the guy Quote
oldno82 Posted October 22 Posted October 22 Due to a mixup, I missed the 1st quarter so I started out watching from the 2nd on. The offense appears monumentally great, the defense monumentally poor. Lamar was simply outstanding even when he didn't have much time to throw and his bomb to Bateman was a thing of beauty. Henry is just a beast. I'm so glad we have him. Receivers are playing well and getting separation, and I haven't seen a drop in quite a while now. Todd Monken has also been brilliant during this 5 game run. Now the defense is pretty pathetic. Tampa ran a lot of up tempo offense and by the 4th quarter it looked to me like our defense just wore out. Poor conditioning perhaps. Poor adjustments by Orr and I detected the return of Dean Pees in the bend don't break philosophy. But we won and won big. We should be able to handle the next few games with ease until we run into the Wilson led Steelers, our next big game. Of course, in the NFL you're never safe playing anybody. Look at the Raiders game we played for proof of that. Quote

Yes, my fear exactly, as we talked about in the Pees thread, if Orr has been leaning on him all season, he, from the start, then maybe he, Pees is the reason for thos defensive failure. Granted, they have runs in games where they shut teams down, but, the 4th quarter collapses are very real, very big. The end of half's are as well. If a team has the ball with 2 mins left in the first half, we can pretty guarantee that they will score before half. Todd has done a marvelous job helping Lamar and calling plays, his combinations, usage of not 1, not 2 but all 3 tight ends along with the talents at wide out. Henry is piling up yards but not carries, doing what Harbs said he wanted, less than 25 carries per game. I'm not sure it is conditioning with the defense, they have a very good, deep defensive line rotation. But more so the philosophy, bend, don't break, make a stop somewhere. Pees was well hated for his late game defense, prevent a victory, play deep, rally to the ball. It cost this franchise many games. If they can't be more consistent and get away from that, they will not beat Kc. Quote
oldno82 Posted October 23 Posted October 23 That's how I read it too. I think it was smart to bring in some help for Orr but Pees shouldn't have been selected. Quote
