tsylvester Posted Monday at 10:33 PM Posted Monday at 10:33 PM Just what the NFL envisioned when they made up the schedule for the 2025 season, 2 underperformed teams teetering on the brink of obscurity, both recording their 2nd wins of the season in week 8, slated to star opening the week 9 games on Thursday night. Phew, that was a long, run on sentences, I suppose I could properly structure it, but mentally it is too tough for this old mind. That is my excuse and I'm sticken to it. Yes, to succeed in the NFL one must be mentally strong, something that has come into question with both franchises lately; they are stuck in their heads. On paper, the Phins have a passing attack, or at least the potential for one, that could shred the best defenses. But closer look at the paper and we can see it is written on with disappearing ink. Miami is 25th in passing offense, despite their explosion last week. Which passing attack Baltimore will face is anyone's guess. Which ever, Baltimore best bring its best pass rushing plan and execute it with prejudice, to make sure this game doesn't turn into a shoot out. Only the shadow knows if Lamar will play Thursday night, and game played on this short of a week day's rest, anything usually happens. So, who ya got? Quote
oldno82 Posted Tuesday at 04:37 AM Posted Tuesday at 04:37 AM Like you said, anything can happen with these 2 teams on 4 days rest. Lamar will probably play so he can impress his south Florida fan base. Quote
tsylvester Posted Tuesday at 08:59 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 08:59 PM It's has been confirmed that Lamar w As the one who ordered the toys and toy box taken out of the lockerroom, carry on Quote
oldno82 Posted Wednesday at 07:41 PM Posted Wednesday at 07:41 PM I watched the first half of the Bears game again. Huntley was impressive. He threw hard when he had to, and put air under the ball when necessary. He just might be the 'answer' for us as a backup. Vibes coming out of the Ravens' camp sound very positive. Maybe the Bears win will get them on track. The Dolphins don't have much but they're playing at home on a Thursday night. I hope we beat the crap out of them. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted Wednesday at 08:24 PM Posted Wednesday at 08:24 PM We should win the next 4. What is Cincinnati when we get there? Then Pitt? We finish Cincinnati,Pitt, Cincinnati, ne, gb, and Pitt. There are 2 definite losses in there. I figure 1 loss to Pitt. So best case I see.9-8. That could well win the div but we will one and done. I’d rather have the high pick now. Quote
tsylvester Posted Wednesday at 08:43 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 08:43 PM Flacco has a shoulder issue, took a pounding the past 2 games. Cinci may have to go back to Browning. Joe wants to try and play through the ac joint pain. He will need a bigger spleaph to do that Quote
tsylvester Posted Thursday at 11:08 PM Author Posted Thursday at 11:08 PM 10 games left, no, 1 game left and it is tonight. Lose tonight and while you can still be mathematically alive, but reality is you are done. As it stands, they will likely have to go 8-2 over the next 10 weeks, certainly a sweep of the Steelers is almost a must, it all starts tonight..mmmmmm Quote
tsylvester Posted yesterday at 12:17 AM Author Posted yesterday at 12:17 AM What an abysmal opening show.... and Kaylee, young lady, eat something, you look like a bobble head, have a burger on a roll, with lettuce and tomato, side of fries with gravy on the side Quote
tsylvester Posted yesterday at 12:59 AM Author Posted yesterday at 12:59 AM Only our defense could have a guy stopped, surrounded for a 6 yard loss and let him get 8 yards Quote
tsylvester Posted yesterday at 01:15 AM Author Posted yesterday at 01:15 AM Defense gets a gift call of tripping, offense gives it right back with undisciplined play. Special teams, Harb's bread & butter, gives it up even more. Good hold, credit, by the defense to hold them to a field goal when they started at the Baltimore 29 yard line.. This is a playoff team? I think not. Prove me wrong when I wake up and see who won, when I watch the recording Quote
tsylvester Posted yesterday at 01:29 AM Author Posted yesterday at 01:29 AM Offensive line continues to be offensive, yet no changes, right coach Harbs? They are playing great, right coach Harbs? 1 drive for a score, 1 score took 4 plays from the 3 yard line to get in and was only possible thanks to a turnover. Change the guards! Quote
tsylvester Posted yesterday at 01:33 AM Author Posted yesterday at 01:33 AM Nobody from the outside lineback/defensive end group can hold an edge. Holding an edge means stretching it out, not getting caved in creating a huge hole. Nor, Nor get pinned in allowing for the runner to get around the corner. This defense still sucks, they looked better the past 2 games because of other factors besides being good. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Miami is a hot mess. A solid win but it’s not one you use to measure what you are. Quote
tsylvester Posted 17 hours ago Author Posted 17 hours ago It's a short week game, I try not to judge but man that first half was brutal from a defensive stand point and the offensive line. Against a better than, nay, a better quarterback, that defense gets toasted. Even so, they shut em out in the 2nd half thanks in part to a bad quarterback and scored 2 more touchdowns. Win any way you can. Shame they left Miami with just a win and not an edge rusher You could make a drinking game with how many missed tackles the defense had Quote
tsylvester Posted 13 hours ago Author Posted 13 hours ago Meh, either way they need an edge rusher for next year at the least. Green looks lost out there, not much power. He got a nice excuse me half sack. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago It has to be a contract that has yrs on it. Quote
tsylvester Posted 9 hours ago Author Posted 9 hours ago Yeppers, someone not on the back end of their career Quote
oldno82 Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago I dunno...the Ravens looked like they had recovered their confidence in the second half and looked a lot better. Lamar was out for 30 some days and really only had a couple of practices so he was rusty at the start but got much better as the night progressed. Henry benefits when the pass game is clicking and he showed he still has 'it'. The D survived another game by making adjustments in the 2nd half but Orr still can look lost at times and that's reflected in the defense's play. All in all, it was a nice win after a really low period. Hopefully, something to build on. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago They sucked with Lamar. The ol is no better. Ricard is not right yet. 1 hour ago, tsylvester said: Yeppers, someone not on the back end of their career I’m more talking someone like Hendrickson. He is a fa after the season. Im not giving up a big haul for a guy we might not be able to keep. Quote
oldno82 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Saying they sucked with Lamar only applies at the very beginning of the game; he did, after all, complete 18 of 24 for 204 yds and 4 touchdowns and no INT's. What you say about the offensive line is more accurate. It needs a lot of work and Ricard didn't look ready, I agree. The defensive line is the big problem. They need a lot of help all across it. Another problem is that they'll have 20-some free agents after this year. Quote

Oh I get ya, but lm not sure there are any out there on teams willing to trade with Baltimore Quote

Another problem is that they'll have 20-some free agents after this year. My biggest issue with the defense is 1) poor angles 2) terrible tackling It hasn't just been this past game where they take bad angles to ball carrier, resulting in more yards. They constantly let the ball carrier "out the back door" as it were. Tackling, how many missed or broken tackles does this team give up each game? If there was a way to track it for the public, I would bet Baltimore is near tops. Both parts were never a part of the Baltimore defenses of old. These issues started last year and have gotten worse. That is coaching just as is the offensive line issues, poor foot work, reaching for blocks, not getting their feet under them. All lead to linemen being run over, ha ing no power. As a team, this team appears weak, again not just this game, but every game; coaching. Something happened and needs to change ASAP, since last year. We know what happened to the offensive line, a coach died a new one took over. Frankly, he stinks, evidence is the terrible line play. Quote
