Ravens trade for Dre’Mont Jones from the Titans

They acquired edge rusher Dre’Mont Jones from the Titans for a conditional fifth-round pick, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports.

Jones has 4.5 sacks in the past four games, with nine quarterback hits, after going sackless in the first five. He also has 26 tackles, including five tackles for loss this season.

Seems like a weak move just to make a move.I don't see where he brings much more than Oweh.

Eric made the wrong call on keeping VanNoy instead of Clowmey. I agreed with trading Oweh, 4 sacks in 4 games since the trade but 2 in the last game. So is he doing anything or was that just an easy match up for him?

Seems just as Ozzie couldn't draft a wide out to save his life, Eric cant find an edge rusher

Remember defensive guys would leave and were crap elsewhere.  For quite some time it has been guys who do nothing here perform in other spots.  That is a coaching issue.

Ya know, just as some are better coaches as assistants than they are at head coaches, maybe Eric is better as a number 2 rather than a GM..... time will tell but it hasn't been a great start

I just have to see him without the black hole of turdy.  If he still makes bad decisions he needs to leave.  If that’s the case can we give howie a promotion out of philthy?

Not sure Howie would leave for a lateral move essentially. But that dude is making some great moves. Not sure how he is working the cap with these guys..

Nice. No major move by the Ravens, tells me that the front office is not sold on the idea that this team can turn things around completely. I wonder, do the players feel the same....

Of course they aren’t.  Make a couple nibble move to keep the fans coming game day.  We should have been like the jets.

Well, the Jets had good drafting, except at qb. Coaching and front office are the issue.

The Ravens got into this mess because of bad drafts the past few years and stubbornness by the coaching to stay with favorites who are not getting the job done.

Madds is a good example. His neck injury, who knows if he will play again. With what was given up for Williams, get him, you don lose much and cover the base if Madds has to retire.

They know that they have to restructure Lamar before next year, why wait? Had they got it done, even more cap room for Williams and if Madds does come back, trade Williams next year after the season, let those two play together- better than Goose and Adams.

You are facing losing a defensive tackle or two after the season anyway....

If I’m Lamar I don’t do anything so I can get out.  Why wait for a rebuild?

Where is he going to go that is better than here? This team is not, yet, a perennial loser, it honestly needs a few tweaks. Fix the evaluation process for the drafts and free agency.

Something is a miss there either scouts, coach, or front office.

Clearly they need a new line coach as we have discussed.

A new DC perhaps.

But does he want to go to Carolina? Or some team like that that is far worse, from owner to ball boy, than here. Lamar does not strike me as that type of player or person.

Look at Burrow, as good as he is when healthy, and the great weapons he has, they have to score a ton of points to win. Not a fun career especially when his line falls apart and he gets beaten to a pulp.

Well, that is an interesting thought that Lamar would want to leave. I don't think he does, but I think it is something he has to think about because I believe the Ravens don't have a clue on how to handle the renegotiation process with him. They can't afford the current out years for sure. The cap can't handle it. But there's been a lot of foot dragging on getting a new deal done. Don't know for sure if that's on Lamar, the Ravens, or both, but nothing has been getting done. Ditto in that nothing being done was the 'solution' to the Andrews situation. The Ravens seem like they don't want to trade or pay so Andrews or maybe even Lamar may leave, or ask to be traded in the latter's case.

I'm just bummed that our front office is the opposite of pro-active. They appear to be indecisive to the point of paralysis.

Why is that? Is it DeCosta, Harbs, Bisciotti? Do too many hands have to reach a consensus to get anything done?

I just don't know.

They are far from a few tweaks.  They need 8 starting and good players.  This is not a quick fix.  Off the top of my head if mini is willing to give up on McCarthy that’s a good spot.

I don't know if the vikes are interested in trading McCarthy. That's tempting for us, but not for them, methinks.

Get rid of Harbs, Lamar, Stanley, Henry, Andrews, build the draft picks and have a rotation of grest drafts with crappy coaching, great coaching with crappy drafts year after year cutting loose players after their 4, 5 years is up?
