tsylvester Posted December 3, 2025 Posted December 3, 2025 OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- The Ravens rewarded tight end Mark Andrews with a three-year extension Wednesday, securing his future in Baltimore. The extension is worth $39.3 million and includes $26 million guaranteed, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Andrews, 30, was scheduled to be a free agent at the end of the season. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/47193922/mark-andrews-agrees-3-year-extension-ravens Quote
papasmurfbell Posted December 4, 2025 Posted December 4, 2025 This team wants to circle the drain. They love to throw good money after bad. Quote
tsylvester Posted December 4, 2025 Author Posted December 4, 2025 I guess they just wanted to pay for his wedding Quote
oldno82 Posted December 4, 2025 Posted December 4, 2025 It looks like the team valued past performance more than future. I like Andrews and what he has done for the franchise but not so much if they cut Likely loose. They've got to sign Likely and that likely means (pun intended) cleaning up Lamar's cap hit for the next 2 years. Quote
tsylvester Posted December 4, 2025 Author Posted December 4, 2025 They can still sign Likely, pending how much he wants. There were rumors that they were negotiating with him earlier this season, maybe he wanted too much, much more than Andrews. He is good, don't get me wrong but there are a number of tightends coming out this draft just as good if not better. The kid from Oregon, Kenyon Sadiq, extremely athletic, very good bocker, not as tall as Likely at 6-3, but maybe a better runner, routes and with the ball. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted December 4, 2025 Posted December 4, 2025 Likely is gone. I think kolar is too. This was a stupid deal. Quote
oldno82 Posted December 5, 2025 Posted December 5, 2025 Kolar is replaceable. If Likely is gone, then we can wait for the draft. But I don't think his being 'gone' is a done deal yet as Tsyl points out. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted December 5, 2025 Posted December 5, 2025 I do. We gave you an offer and you didn’t take it. Basically Andrews got the same deal. As I recall we have 24 fa players this winter. One guy will take up about 25% of the cap. I see dead money on mads also. To be honest I would have gone to kolar and said how does 3 yrs 15 sound with an 8 mil bonus. Quote
oldno82 Posted December 5, 2025 Posted December 5, 2025 Kolar is the least of our worries. Cap hell along with all the pending free agents is a much bigger concern. I wonder if they even have a plan for that. I assume they're negotiating to get Lamar's numbers down, but I would be pleasantly surprised if they can pull that off. Quote
tsylvester Posted December 8, 2025 Author Posted December 8, 2025 Ouch https://nypost.com/2025/12/08/sports/how-mark-andrews-cost-the-ravens-a-wide-open-touchdown-vs-steelers/ NFL analyst Brian Baldinger pointed out during a film review that Jackson seemingly unloads the ball to Hopkins as Andrews came across the field and used his 6-foot-5 frame to deflect a ball that looks pretty clearly not intended for him. On fourth down from the Steelers’ eight-yard line with the Ravens down 27-22 with just 2:28 remaining, quarterback Lamar Jackson was moving around looking for an open receiver, when DeAndre Hopkins came free in the back of the end zone with his hands up begging for the ball. Andrews’ hand knocked the ball off its trajectory to Hopkins and fell incomplete as the drive stalled deep in Pittsburgh territory, foiling their best chance to score a touchdown and take the lead in a crucial game. After Andrews accidentally spoiled what appeared to be a sure-fire Hopkins touchdown, Jackson put his hands in the air in shock after having missed an opportunity to take the lead and perhaps win the game Quote
papasmurfbell Posted December 8, 2025 Posted December 8, 2025 They did have that shot of Andrews on the bench very unhappy at the end of the game. Quote
