vmax Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 McAlister has been released, so any team with interest can sign him now...right? If so....why haven't they?
ravinmaniac52 Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 His age? His Knee? I may be wrong in this one but I think I was hearing that he couldn't do anything untill late April/early May?
vmax Posted February 23, 2009 Author Posted February 23, 2009 I heard he failed his exit physical...but I'm not certain as to the truth on that. Cris is out of the NFL right now...homeless...tons of teams need secondary help...they should be looking at him now. Unless his knees are bad and he wants to wait until he can pass a physical.
ravinmaniac52 Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 At this point until he can take the field I do not see any team looking at him. Chris may be one of them players that sign with a team around camp or after. Teams would be taking a big chance at signing Chris at this time.
BMoreHon Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 over/under on the next alcohol related arrest?
yagersports Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 Wouldn't it be crazy if we ended up resigning him at a discount??? haha McAlister and Reed playin Safety, not bad.
ForceEight Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 Wouldn't it be crazy if we ended up resigning him at a discount??? haha McAlister and Reed playin Safety, not bad. Not happening, because he's pissed that Ozzie and Co. That was stated the other day. Max: No other team can sign McAlister yet, as free agency doesn't start until the end of the week. That's all there is to it, so far.
vmax Posted February 23, 2009 Author Posted February 23, 2009 Max: No other team can sign McAlister yet, as free agency doesn't start until the end of the week. That's all there is to it, so far. He's not under contract...with anyone. Fred Taylor, who was released, is visiting teams... According to Shalise Manza Young of the Providence Journal, the Pats and Bills appear to be the top candidates to land veteran running back Fred Taylor, who was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier this week in a salary-cap move. Taylor, 33, is expected to visit both teams this week. He is represented by Drew Rosenhaus. http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/nfl?page=2 I don't think players who are out-right released are bound by the rules of the Free Agent signing period. I think those rules only apply to players who are elligeble be Free Agents but are currently under contract until Free Agency begins. I have some doubt on this so that is why I asked the question.
BeenAround Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 CMac's not a free agent, he was released. That's all there is to it. An article from a few days ago

He can sign with another team at this time. So can Fred Taylor. Anyone who is cut can sign at this time, they don't have to wait.
yagersports Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 If McAlister finds out that there is no market for him, he may change his tune. Maybe. haha
